We have visited this theatre on numerous occasions and have always been made to feel welcome by the (volunteer) staff. Theatre is well kept although the looks defiantly need updating. Only negative is £2.50 for a very small tub of ice cream is rather in the expensive side.

We visited the theatre to see a play called Before the Party, starring Tom Conti and Gwen Taylor.
The theatre is in an excellent condition, although it is in an ongoing restoration project.
It was like walking back in time.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
We ordered coffee for two at the intermission and we were told it would be outside ready for us. At half time we walked out and found a row of trays with teas, coffees, and biscuits. Each with the seating numbers on a small table place card.
This cost us £4.00 and it was a good price. It is served in the corridor on shelves that drop down and fold back after to leave the corridor clear.
There are three circle levels and the lower stalls.
It was nearly full.
A good play, in a good theatre, what more could you ask for.
Well worth a visit if your in Eastbourne.

Have been to this theatre many times now and still love the experience but not all the shows of course, as can't enjoy everything. Staff very friendly and helpful and will continue going. I have set up a local theatre group in my part of the country and so hope to experience more shows at this venue.

Good for plays and shows. Nice old building and friendly staff. Toilets need a bit of improvement ! Overall well worth a visit and if staying overnight the nearby New Willmington hotel is excellent

Love seeing plays here. Delightful old building, which is not too large. Great views from the dress circle. Saw a couple of the Murder in the Park series over the summer. They were good productions and reasonably priced.

Went here to a show last week and although The great Gatsby has never been or ever will be a personal favourite of mine in any shape or form.
I really enjoyed the evening mainly due to the location and the building itself!!!

My wife and i have been visitors to Eastbourne for many years now. One of the highlights of our holidays has always been a night at the Devonshire Park Theatre.
This year we went to see the play, Round and Round The Garden, which was very well presented and very funny. The one problem we had was the lack of a sound system to mike up the performers. It was difficult at times especially when actors were speaking towards each other to hear what they were saying. I think some consideration should be given to providing some stage mikes for these kinds of performances. As a stage manager myself i do tend to be critical about some aspects of production, but apart from the lack of sound, the production was perfect. It is nice to see the renovations taking place at the moment. Long may the theatre remain Eastbourns LITTLE GEM.

We went to see 'Stone Cold Murder', part of the Murder Mystery season. Probably not my first choice but what a great performance! We really enjoyed it....the play kept you guessing and the individual actors were very good. All this in a beautiful theatre and for about the same price as going to movies. What's not to like! The bar is also lovely and looks out over the Aegon International tennis courts.

My wife and I saw a matinee performance of The Mousetrap here, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had seen it a few years ago in London, and were keen to see it again.
It was an excellent production, the acting was perfect, and all the cast members were word perfect. The setting was just right because the Devonshire Park Theatre lent itself to the play's period.
Just right.

I moved to eastbourne from Brighton and feared there would not be enough theatre on offer . I was wrong. Eastbourne have several theaters and all offer some great shows. However, Devonshire Park is my favourite. It is very original with a real olde worlde feel to it. There is a nice bar area too. Toilets are a little disappointing but they always tend to be in old theatre buildings. The prices here are much less than Brighton but the shows generally the same. The Christmas panto is always worth seeing but also be sure to check out the west end touring productions which generally visit eastbourne. Although some shows do book out you can generally get tickets at short notice. Worth a visit to this old lady of theatre buildings.

A small traditional theatre with a good acoustic and good sight lines. The Upper Circle had its own bar, with, on the night we attended, a single member of staff working at an amazingly fast rate.

Excellent "am dram" production of "High Society". Only on until the end of the week - 30 May. If you are in Eastbourne do try to get tickets. The music is also very good.

The Devonshire park theatre was hard to find, but once there and inside it was very impressive.
Grand décor and fittings. The upper balcony is very high up and some seats were slightly restricted.
The production of Peter pan goes wrong was excellent and ticket prices were very reasonable.
A great night out when in Eastbourne - will be back some day I hope.

This was our first visit to the Devonshire Park Theatre and it definitely will not be our last. This is a theatre with character and history, a jewel of a bygone theatre - long may it be preserved. Compared to other theatres the Devonshire Park seat prices are extremely good value and it would not cost a small fortune for a family night out, the programs and ice creams are cheaper too (well done!). There is plenty of leg room, and viewing from any seat is acceptable. If you wish to see a good stage production there is no need to pay the exorbitant prices of London theatres, go to Eastbourne. There is ample parking on the streets close to the theatre and numerous restaurants close-by for a pre-theatre dinner.
We went to see Agatha Christie's Secret Adversary which was very entertaining, being funny, thought provoking and an all round pleasurable experience. If you are looking for a stage performance with something different then this the one to see, we are sure that Agatha Christie would have enjoyed it as well.

We visited this theatre to see Peter Pan goes wrong, the play itself was excellent, one of the funniest I have seen. As a venue the theatre itself is a treat, although externally it looks like it could do with a little renovation work, the interior is not the same. This is a fantastic example of a Victorian Matcham theatre in excellent condition, the seats are extremely comfortable and being reasonably small all seats give a good view.
if you have the opportunity visit this theatre

A bit aged but adds to the experience. Lovely theatre full of history seats not very comfy but for the recent play that I saw the other night it was worth a sore bottom. They have lots of good shows/plays here just need to get there more. A must I think if you like a good well acted play.
Confectionery is very expensive and I guess this goes for any theatre/cinema why is that I wonder?

Visited to see the Agatha Christie play " And then there were None", A really enyoyable evening and prices compared to Brighton theatres are alot cheaper.

The venue was clean and tidy and the staff really helpful, Remember if you are escorting someone in a wheelchair use the side entrance but beware only get there 30 minutes before curtains are up or you will end up standing in the cold.

I have watched at least 3 shows here with friends and family and have been impressed all 3 times. The venue is kept clean and has a good atmosphere. It can prove to be a little hard to find however if you are a new comer so I would recommend you look up directions first if you are walking from Eastbourne Town Centre.

Lovely old theatre, pleasant helpful staff. Production was excellent. The cast worked their socks off and created an amusing and delightful time. Tucker and Maryn Knight have a great partnership, but the whole cast was superb. Carley Stenson has a fantastic voice. Lots of modern songs used that made it even more enjoyable for the children. It suited all ages, hilarious on many levels. Highly recommended. Our party age group was from 5years to mid 60's.

I love pantos' , oh yes I do. I have never been to this theatre before but I dare say the stalls would have been a lovely place to be but as this was a last minute booking we were sat up in the grand circle. It obviously needs a lot of money spending on the staircase and walls as most of it was crumbling away. We all know how costly these old theatres are in their upkeep and I hope they can get it all restored one day.
But this didn't put us off the show, well done to everyone concerned. A special well done to Carly Stenson who played the wicked Malevolent we thought she was fantastic.
