We took a bracing walk on the pier, they are still working on it after the fire, but it's worth a look for the view. You can have something to eat and drink in the café or browse the gift shops, if it was better weather the view would be spectacular, a good old fashioned thing to do.

The victorian pier is the epitome of an English seaside attraction, and the one at Eastbourne is a fine example, but is in desperate need of a full refurbishment. Great to walk to the end to appreciate the views, but sadly let down by peeling paint, a lack of maintenance and missing sections of the decorative lights at night.
It has a couple of cafes, although the Victorian Tea Room is an overpriced disappointment, and the chippy at the entrance is substandard. If in need of good quality fish and chips then take a stroll along to Qualisea in Terminus Road or one of a couple in Carlisle Road.
Sadly the fire in July 2014 destroyed the Blue Room arcade on the pier, and hopefully it's demolition and the plan to rebuild it will see something new and exciting take it's place.

This is a lovely old-fashioned pier to stroll along on a sunny day, have fish and chips or an ice cream, explore the lovely little shops, cafes and boutiques and just soak up that view. Even though the restoration of the burnt-out section is under way, there are viewing platforms to see the work and walkways on each side to reach all the attractions out to see. A must visit.

I would say good, rather than average, however the shops on and around the pier failed to capture my attention (except the mid-pier Victorian tea room), and architecturally, she could do with less concrete, otherwise no complaints.

The pier is quite nice and big with shops inside of a good choice as well the pier is quite big and you can good views of the seas as well.

Eastbourne pier is a great sight as you near it along the promenade.
Free to walk along to the end -the middle part is being repaired after severe fire damage but you are still able to walk to either side of this.
Great views on a clear day with fishing aloud at the bottom for a small fee.
Tea room at the end and no sign of any amusements , which makes a welcome change.
Well worth a stroll along.

It was interesting looking thro the peepholes at the progress of the work. The Victorian restaurant serves very good tea with leaves rather than tea bags.

Lovely Victorian pier which sadly, was extensively damaged by fire last year. It's currently undergoing restoration, but is being kept open as far as possible. The high fences around the work-areas have holes cut out so people can peep through to watch the progress - nice touch! I love the freshness of the blue and white colour scheme, and the lion head details on the lamps! Wonderful, uninterrupted views up and down the coast.

Provides a good view of the shore although most shops were closed when we visited late in the day. Careful of where you step as some of the flooring is in need of repair.

What a shame, the pier Fire last year has really devastated what was a lovely old Landmark. But it is in the process of being restored now and hopefully it will be back to its former glory soon.
It was interesting to be able to view some of this process through windows in the barriers. Lots of dangerous work going on and quite amazing to see it .

unfortunately due to a fire last year pier is not fully open . lovely views of the coastline from here and interesting prints to look at all around the pier . we look forward to returning when work completed

A great shame, because it really is a wonderful structure which could be quite magnificent. Unfortunately it has, in part, become the sort of building which lends itself to the cheap side of sea side life. Nevertheless, there are hopeful signs of improvement. At the time of our visit there was quite a lot of building work going on.

Despite a devastating fire during JULY 2014 I am pleased to report that the pier is open for business and the workmen are making good progress to restore this iconic building to former glory.

Great walking along the pier was very windy but nice with plenty of activity around you. Fish and chips sold here as was ice cream really great .

The pier is a huge part of Eastbourne seafront and I can't wait to see the building work finished. I hope it looks similar to how the old pier did because it's what made it stand out. The story behind why one half of the pier is higher than the other half is also amazing, definitely a lot history on it! Lovely to walk down on a hot summers day with an ice cream!

The Pier is being refurbished at the moment, due to the fire. All the little shops and cafe's were closed when we visited on Sunday. The views towards the beach are lovely

Very relaxed atmosphere, staff excellent, we ordered a Victorian Tea Party, and when it came we was exceptionally satisfied, the tea was freshly made from loose tea with tea strainer and china cups and saucers, choice of freshly prepared sandwiches with all crusts removed, freshly homemade scones with fresh cream, strawberry jam and butter, followed by a choice of freshly made cakes, fantastic, you must go.
