We take our line dancers to this amazing hotel every summer. It is spotlessly clean, the communal areas are lovely and airy and the ballroom is stunning. I cannot praise Jonathan and his staff enough for their impeccable dress and the attention they give to make sure our events run smoothly. The food is delicious and perfectly cooked. And the Eton mess is to die for. Thank you so much for helping us during the switch over from strict covid regs to more relaxed ones and for keeping us, and our dancers, safe during our stay. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

This hotel is the jewel of Eastbourne. I cannot praise the staff, the management, the grounds enough. The covid pandemic has been incredibly hard for hospitality and other businesses, but our recent stay at The Hydro was wonderful. We felt safe, the standards and service have not declined one bit and we could relax and enjoy our stay.
It's wonderful that all key staff have been retained over the various lockdowns and the experience they have is obviously valued by senior management and the owners.
We stayed a few nights, and then a small group of dancers joined us for a midweek break. The bedrooms our group were allocated had been refreshed over the lockdown and there wasn't one complaint from our party.
The food, breakfast and dinner, is exceptional quality with service to match.
With many hotels finding post lockdown difficult for a variety of reasons, The Hydro with their investment in staff, who some have worked at the Hydro for over 20 years, are providing a wonderful hotel where you know from the moment you check in to the moment you check out, you will be looked after in a clean, comfortable hotel, with impeccable service in a superb quiet location.
From one manager to another, I congratulate Jonathan for running a lovely hotel in very testing times.
P. S. Bring your swimmers, the restidents only pool is warm and not overlooked.

I have just spent another wonderful, relaxing stay at The Hydro. This hotel is special with its many lounges, conservatory, beautiful gardens & delightful views. All the staff work hard & are so friendly. I was unable to get a sea view room on this occasion however, the classic single I had was spectacularly clean & comfortable with good Wi-Fi. I look forward to my next stay.

Went back yet again and still found excellent service given by the Staff. Following loss of some Staff due to lockdowns, the Hotel had many loyal Staff back but had employed a number of youngsters who mainly served the breakfasts. Well trained and all very smart. Dinner Staff, more mature, were excellent and were very ready to give advice and help with menu choices.
The lovely sunny Conservatory was always a pleasure to catch a lunch or afternoon tea and from this delightful place one had brilliant views towards Beachy Head and the wide expanse of sea. Also the beautiful garden, croquet pitch and the putting green were immaculate. For swimmers there is also a very nice pool, much used by some guests.
A delightful stay and though sadly I had to leave two days early due to medical tests (no not Covid!) I was given money back for unused days. What a great place to be.

Recently returned to the Hydro since my last stay in Dec 2019 but have been a regular guest over many years, have always had a lovely time and this was no exception. Reception was friendly & helpful, but missed Howard to assist with the luggage! Had a single room which was suitable for my needs, which was kept spotlessly clean. Only downside was the water flow in the shower was very weak. The food in the Restaurant was excellent & the waiting team although mostly young were attentive & smart. Nice to be recognized & welcomed back by several of the longer serving members. Had PM and pre dinner drinks from the bar, but had an issue with branded mixers served warm as not kept in the fridge, but the wonderful lady who served me said she would keep some in the fridge for me. Full marks to her & thank you. I have been assured by the GM, Jonathan that this practice will be reviewed. Overall completely satisfied & have booked to return this Dec & in Spring 22.

Wonderful hotel, friendly and helpful all the staff members, view of the sea from the room blissful, delicious breakfast served by host oriented staff members and wedding venue like wedding in paradise. Wedding Emcee Franciso and his staff members were professional in making the wedding evening with three days very memorable experience. Thank you

Absolutely fabulous venue for weddings! I had the pleasure to photograph a wonderful and joyful wedding recently there and here is my honest feedback:
The hotel is extremely well ran by the management and well organised. Everything related to the wedding was seamless which was not only for me as a supplier, but for the couple and the guests really helpful and made us feel more relaxed. The hotel was busy, but this did not affect the service nor the experience being on a wedding.
The wedding took place outside with a view to the coast and lovely fresh air. The private garden is a perfect place for group and couple photo session. We did not feel the need of going elsewhere to take photos as we had everything around us we needed.
The reception took place inside just by the garden in a lovely large room with three staff helping the service.
Great experience and I cannot wait to return!

We had a pleasing short break in this traditional hotel. Our best decision was to have our evening dinners at the hotel. The food was superb and presented well and as there are no other food outlets in the vicinity, we had no travel to contemplate. The hotel communal areas are large and on a nice day there is plenty of outdoor seating in the spacious gardens. Our room however was a bit on the small size but it did have plenty of storage. It did not help that the bed was a standard double and we are used to much larger at home. A couple of things I would like the hotel to improve. Our bathroom door would not close and the entrance door had a faulty closer, so room inspections need to be tightened. There was also a laissez faire attitude to masks. Frequently not worn by some guests and on one evening there was a function with lots of young men in D J's and not a mask in sight. We found this somewhat unsettling

This is a first-class hotel. Service was particularly friendly and attentive. Our room was very comfortable, spotless and had a beautiful view of the hotel's immaculate gardens and the sea. The food in the restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner each day was of a very high standard. Although the menu did not change, we could always find a meal to enjoy as the standard of the cuisine is imaginative and highly professional. Altogether a great experience.

We got married here Saturday and we could not be happier. The venue is stunning and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. Francois- our Manager for the day, was so helpful, the food was amazing and the place is so clean and well run. It has a relaxed atmosphere where you feel that anything is no trouble for them. We could not place higher praise on this place. Please visit or book your dream day here too, as you won’t be disappointed.

My partner and I spent 3 nights in room 308 last week and very much enjoyed our stay. I heard about the Hydro by chance , through an ex work colleague. The hotel is traditional in style and comfortably furnished; our room spotlessly clean, very quiet (apart from the seagulls outside!) while paying a little more for side sea views added an extra sparkle. What really impressed us was the staff - very friendly, very informed and approachable. This was most particularly so in the restaurant for breakfast and the evening meal . One felt nothing was too much trouble. As a keen swimmer I loved having the outdoor heated pool to myself (being up very early paid high dividends on the second morning.) You needed only to ask Reception for the code to access the pool area to be provided with a couple of towels.
Elsewhere, some slight confusion (quickly solved) about the car park - there is one for disabled customers, and a larger one at the side of the hotel. Free street parking is also available for any overflow.

This is a traditional English seaside hotel. We had a comfortable room with sea view, The wifi was particularly good, although not a secure network. We ate in the main rdining room each evening. The menu did not change, but there was enough choice for the length of our stay. The service was exceptionally friendly and efficient. The outdoor pool was heated to a pleasant temperature and was most enjoyable. The rear garden was nicely landscaped with plenty of seating. Parking was relatively easy and free. The property is about a 15 min walk from the town centre.

My husband and I had a lovely modern, sea view room. We dined in the restaurant for my husband's 60th and enjoyed a cooked breakfast the next morning. The staff were friendly and provided a good service.

Hydro Hotel, Mount Road, Eastbourne
I recently visited the Hydro for lunch in the stunning conservatory, with its lovely views over the hotel garden, the outdoor wedding terrace and to the sea beyond.
Stepping into the reception area via the revolving entrance door, I was greeted by a helpful staff member and directed to a seating area to await my dining companion. I was lucky to have those few minutes to take in the sense of space, beautiful decor and furnishings. Areas had been created to establish a library/reading room and a relaxing lounge filled with cosy armchairs, and with a stunning fireplace to one end of the room. A large piano was situated in the large hallway, the pianist providing some non-intrusive background music to the general atmosphere of the hotel. I had a chance to peek in to the Crystal Restaurant, a more formal room but with a modern, relaxed decor.
And everywhere I looked there was a mixture of period decor....architectural details such as decorative mouldings and panelling.....alongside stunning floor coverings in mixed designs and colours creating a very tasteful ambience.
Once seated in the conservatory, we were able to choose from a variety of foods from cakes, sandwiches through to "light" lunches which we could see from the portions of other guest's meals, were of main meal size! As a non meat eater, I was keen to explore the vegetarian/vegan options. Of the latter, there was only one cooked lunch option which was a calzone pizza which came with a large side salad. I chose this option out of curiosity, and after being advised by the helpful waitress that it was a substantial meal, I wisely declined a side order of fries. Drinks arrived promptly and the food arrived soon after.
The calzone was huge, taking up two thirds of the plate, but it was delicious! The filling was substantial and so tasty, as was the mixed salad that went alongside it and I ate most of the meal, leaving room for only a cup of fruit tea after. My companion also found the meal tasty and filling and settled for a coffee to follow.
And if the food and views weren't enough, we were also lucky to observe a beautiful wedding ceremony taking place on the outdoor terrace, and had the opportunity, along with our fellow diners, to give our best wishes to the happy couple.
There was no pressure to vacate our table after dining and we stayed on for a long while just enjoying the views and chatting.
Bathrooms were spotlessly clean, service and food were excellent and the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing. The only downside would be a lack of choice in vegan friendly meal options.....vegetarians were just slightly better catered for. I can't knock off a whole star as the experience was otherwise perfect, and I can't take off a half star so five it is. I would appeal though for one or two more vegan options on the menu to appeal to what is a growing lifestyle choice.

We love this hotel and normally stay at The Hydro twice a year for four-day breaks. My husband and l were back there again at the end of June.

On this occasion we were allocated a ground floor bedroom with windows facing the lawns and the sea beyond. Fabulous! Our twin-bedded room was amazingly spacious and comfortable. We’ll certainly request this particular room when we book future short breaks.

We recognised several familiar faces from previous visits when we into the dining room for breakfast and dinner. Those members of staff recognised us too! The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, food to suit all tastes. Because of the current pandemic, the breakfast buffet has temporarily disappeared. All food and drink is served at guests’ own tables by waiting staff. Guests keep their allocated tables for their entire stay. No doubt some of these safeguards will be relaxed on 19th July.

Thank you Mr. Owen for another comfortable and relaxing stay at your lovely hotel. Please pass on our thanks to your staff members. Will you have us back again later in the year please?

Stayed at the hydro last week of June in a side sea view room. The room was spotlessly clean with all necessary items included, although extra luxuries had been removed due to covid restrictions. The room was only serviced once during our one week stay, but extra towels, toiletries were left outside our door so this wasn’t a problem. We stayed on a dinner, bed & breakfast tariff and found the food excellent. My only criticism would be it’s the same menu every day, which is very repetitive if staying for a week. Having said that, there are lots options and nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are all immaculately turned out both at breakfast and dinner. The weather was not good unfortunately so we didn’t get the chance to use the swimming pool, but it looked good and had lots sun beds and chairs surrounding it. There is a light and airy conservatory leading out to the gardens, but on every occasion we went in, every table had a reserved sign on, although we never saw anyone sitting at them. On the whole I would recommend the hydro for a lovely relaxing break with good old fashioned service from all involved

A lovely, lovely hotel. We've stayed there before & really enjoyed it then. This time we took their last room which had zero view (which to be fair they did explain to us when we booked by phone) & also the shower was pretty feeble. The breakfast was delicious but the service was slow. The staff were brilliant & there was nothing that would stop us from returning.
