Group of 4 of us had dinner there. 2 really enjoyed it but 2 thought it was ok. Benefit of the doubt so 4 out of 5.
Starters good but my main dish of veal was a bit tasteless. However my wife loved her fish. Garlic bread overdone. Nice apple strudel though. Will give it another bash if we are around that way again.

The restaurant was a wonderful place for a romantic meal. Although busy, they had taken care to create a fantastic atmosphere.
The service was fantastic, with staff very quick and on the ball at all times. The food was very good although perhaps a little unadventurous.

Lunch for 3 at this delightful Italian. Decor is very nice, service top level and ambiance perfect for me. Very extensive menu, everything we had was just as expected. Will definitely come back

Visited this Italian restaurant last evening. The place was buzzing with a lively friendly atmosphere. The menu is pretty extensive and you are spoilt for choice. However my friend and I decided to choose from the excellent set menu. Plenty of options here and what we chose was well cooked and nicely presented. We could only manage two courses each followed by coffee. Overall a lovely evening in convivial surroundings. Would definately recommend.

Some friends invited us to a meal here as a treat for our birthdays and what a fantastic evening we had.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. They seemed genuinely interested in all of us and wanted to ensure we had a good time. There is a large choice on the menu, catering to all tastes, and so it took us a while to make our selection. My husband had the white bait, I had parma ham with mango, and then for main my husband had the fish skewers whilst I had the prawn linguine with saffron sauce. Absolutely delicious.
Our one complaint is that the portions were so generous that we couldn't manage any pudding! Perhaps next time we'll forego the starter and then have room for a pudding as everything looked tempting. It's not cheap but considering the service and quality of food it's not that expensive and definitely worth it.
As well as the a la carte, there is a set menu which seemed very reasonable with a good selection to choose from.We will be back!

A wonderful Italian restaurant which reminds one of Italy with its authenticity. Ample choices for every one on the Menu. The Staff are very much an essential contribution for the success of La Laconia. Just love it.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a day-trip to Eastbourne. I fancied Italian and Trip Advisor rated the 'meeting place of the dukes' scored 4.5 stars - so we booked ahead and had a wonderful meal there.
The waitress told us that the restaurant was a family business (she was actually Portuguese but had married into the family) and had been open for about 14 years. We liked everything about the place - it was neat without being over-fussy. The waiters/waitresses were efficient and friendly, the food was delicious. It is not cheap but the quality justified the price.
My wife had Fileto di manzo griglia (a lovely piece of steak which she said was the best she had ever had); I had petto di polo - fillet of chicken with mushrooms. Both were amazing! We didn't have room for desert and in any case I've given up puddings for Lent.
The coffee was also first class. All in all, a very memorable experience.

We found restaurant by chance and it was nearly full, but they found us a nice table. Service was perfect, we were offered drinks while we made our choice from the menu and service was attentive but not rushed. Everything was freshly cooked and excellent. After our starters we were brought a mouth freshening raspberry sorbet before the main course and at the end of the meal we were offered a limoncello on the house. One of the best Italian restaurants we have visited in this country. Thanks for a great meal, we'll certainly be back next time we visit Eastborne.

For our annual visit to Eastbourne we ate at this restaurant for the whole 4 days. The staff are very pleasant and professional and the atmosphere is fantastic. There is a very wide menu selection and was difficult to chose as we liked everything. For Friday and Saturday you must book as the restaurant gets very busy

Whenever we go to Eastbourne we always book a table in advance as this restaurant is very popular- go there and you will see why- it's more than just a resturant it's like being invited into one big Italian family - recommend the Monkfish cooked to perfection .

Arrived at 12 for lunch and by 1.30 when we left this authentic Italian restaurant was full of local people enjoying very good food. The staff were very welcoming to us and to all their regulars. And even cooked a zabaglione for us (not on the menu) which is a dessert very difficult to find in restaurants today, even in Italy, and is quite time/labour intensive.
Overall an excellent experience from a non local choosing a restaurant at random.

As I could not go out this evening I treated my wife to a Valentine meal last night at La Locanda Del Duca in Eastbourne as we were in the area.

Fabulous meal with excellent service from all the staff.
Highly recommended.

We turned up for a pre theatre meal without a booking. It was almost empty but they said they could squeeze us in if we left by 1930. This was fine for us. By 1925 it was packed. The food, seafood risotto and lasagna was very good. The olives and bread were excellent and the service just right. Prices are what you would expect and over all a good experience.

This is probably the best restaurant in Eastbourne. We often visit before going to the theatre. The menu is excellent and the service top notch. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. Most locals know its reputation and it is well founded. Try to eat here if you are a visitor to the town. You will not be disappointed.

We've been here several times over the past decade, and the food is always good, the service is also just as good and the place is usually full, so reservations are a very good idea.
The decor isn't my cup of tea, though I can't put my finger on why - the artworks are attractive. The food however is always good, as I said before. I had the calves liver with what was purported to be Italian pancetta (streaky bacon, I'm sure), it was delicious, I've never had liver so tender, the bacon was cooked just right as were the deep fried potatoes and the vegetables - lovely!

Whilst many other restaurants in Eastbourne were fairly deserted this Saturday lunchtime La Locanda Del Duca seemed to be doing a roaring trade. It's not exactly cutting-edge, nor even great value for money, but its traditional Italian fare clearly goes down well with a loyal local clientele mainly of retired people and pensioners. Although in our fifties ourselves we felt part of the younger generation here. Unlike its slightly larger but more downmarket sister restaurant almost next door there is no children's menu although a smaller portion of spaghetti bolognese was recommended for our daughter. From a set menu (£19.95 for two courses, £24.95 for three) I strarted with a prawn cocktail served on a large bed of lettuce in a large metal bowl with a generous number of prawns swimming in a fairly retro Marie rose sauce. My main of liver and bacon felt more English than Italian. Vegetables festuring sauté potatoes, a huge cauliflower florets and carrot slices would have been trendy in the 1950s but felt a bit perfunctory now. My wife enjoyed her tagliatelle but eyeing seabream and salmon at other tables thought she might have preferred those. My daughter finished with a single scoop of vanilla ce cream nicely served with strings of tiny red berries. Espresso was excellent.

This is everything one could want from an Italian restaurant. Good service, wide ranging menu, reasonable prices, good wine list, everything freshly cooked. I had veal in mushroom sauce which was very tender and cooked to order. Home made Tiramisu. The restaurant was very busy on a Tuesday evening in January so essential to book. Every town should have a restaurant like this. A hundred times better than those dreary chain restaurants.
