Fantastic food, very good portions and welcoming service.
I recommend for starters: the goats cheese salad, scallops wrapped in bacon, and fried prawnsMains were delicious however the lamb a bit dry. The steak with pate and truffles was delicious and so was the cannolini with ricotta and spinach.
Loved the home made ice cream.
A great restaurant to go to for a celebration.

Visited this restaurant many times and thought it the best in Eastbourne - not any more.
The food is always the same and the serving staff now look if they have been doing this job far too long. The decor now looks as tired as the staff, the whole restaurant needs a re-think. La Locanda is very lucky as there are very few good restaurantes in Eastbourne therefore little competition. At least put up some weekly specials for moré choice.

This is a lovely family run place always busy with a great atmosphere the food is excellent and have been here many times.
However next door is also run and owned by the same family and both use the same kitchen but is a bit cheaper and you can order from both menus. Some local knowledge goes a long way
Whichever one you choose you will not be disappointed.

My partner booked a table for an anniversary lunch time meal and it was excellent. We were given a window table and the service and food were very good. We have eaten here before and on both occasions we have really enjoyed our meal. Would recommend it. Not really suitable for children though.

We always receive a warm welcome and the owner Luca always visits every table to ensure all is well. The food is excellent and the service is speedy and considerant . Booking is essential though. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Really good value for money. Everything as it should be, service presentation taste. If you want Italian then this is good. Central location easy walk from the sea front. Portions a good size all well cooked. Good all round restaurant nothing special about decor or atmosphere.

You really must visit this restaurant if you love Italian, and we do.!!
Fabulously cooked and prepared food and drinks. We always go there for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries etc.
The staff are wonderful and polite and I believe all Italian, which gives it that great atmosphere. You may have to book, especially on a Saturday night as it is a really popular venue, but you won't regret it.
Booking this Saturday to celebrate a birthday.

Far more than the usual Italian restaurant chains, this restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and offers a wonderful a la carte menu. If you want more than the usual choice of pizzas and pastas then treat yourself to an evening at La Loans a.

Lovely menu with good selection of Italian dishes. I am not a great pasta lover so I had the grilled calves liver which was excellent. My wife loved her pasta. Service was very good. The only criticism I would have is that the starters are slightly pricey compared to the mains. Very good Italian wine. We would eat here again.

My wife and I dined at La Locanda as part of our celebrating 50 years of marriage.
The menu is extensive, but that does not detract from the quality of the food, which we found ideal to our taste. Much, better than the food one buys in most pubs, but not too "cheffy."The staff were attentive and very pleasant: the restaurant itself was busy with a good ambience. As it was a special celebration, we were not counting the cost and "pushed the boat out," yet, to our surprise, the quite expensive dishes we chose were nonetheless priced at their special offer price.
What's not to like?

Excellent restaurant - I had the scallops and saffron risotto. Service was impeccable too. I was advised to go by an Italian and that is high praise in itself.

I am new to reviewing but not to reading reviews and most definitely not new to dining out, It is what I call my hobby!!!
This place I have been going to for nigh on 15 years and still love it. All the important factors are consistently good.
The service is exceptional, both friendly, professional and highly efficient. The food makes me excited when I know we will have the pleasure of going there for a night out.
The set menu is fab and I just love the side dishes of vegetables that come with the main meals, fresh veg cooked to perfection.Calves liver is devine, pasta cooked in most delicious sauces with perfected al dente texture. I think our favourite is the starter Melanzane, a veggie aubergine towered bake and is big enough to share with bread for a starter, orgasmic...just try to refrain from a when Harry met Sally moment,
The pinot grigio and La Manzane are absolutely delicious.I love the little touches like complimentary liqueurs after dinner.
It is a place we go to now for most birthdays for friends and family, which may sound a tad boring and autistically repetitive BUT when one is limited for decent eateries one sticks with the best...I do highly recommend...NOW do you take my recommendation, you don't know me...I have eaten at Hotel du vin, Riddle and Finns, Raymond Blancs ponsey oxford retreat, Brasserie Blanc, The Grand, the Wyngrove etc so Im not just a Harvester type of chick, so take your chances and go for it...you wont regret it.

Just had and absolutely fantastic evening at this little jewel in the crown of Eastbourne Restaurants. A brilliant and extensive Italian menu to suit all tastes and pockets. In fact it is one of those menus where you feel like ordering everything! Now that is unusual. The staff are professional and attentive, the food was first class with an excellent wine list. I had mussels in saffron tinted sauce to start followed by the fillet steak with pate and truffles in a marsala sauce which was melt in the mouth and to die for. The vegetable selection was fresh and complimentary to the main courses. My wife enjoyed scallops in bacon and spinach as a starter with a beautiful veal dish to follow. We ate with friends, the atmosphere being convivial and welcoming. The staff were attentive but discreet. This is a really enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant was busy but not rushed. Many people would give this a miss thinking it would be out of their price range, however, the extensive menu provide dishes across the price spectrum and I can honestly say that eating here you get excellent value for money.

My son is hard to please for restaurants and he rated this first class for food, service and price. Now he knows where he wishes to eat in Eastbourne. and I agree with him.
Absolutely delightful!

Myself and my family booked a table and I am so glad we did as when we arrived the restaurant was almost full ( this gave us high expectations ) We had a almost private boothed type table with complimentary olives ( that tasted very fresh ) near the front of the restaurant which gave us a bit of privacy but without secluding us completely . The waiting staff attended our needs promptly without rushing us and were very attentive during the service. The fillet of beef (roast dinner sunday special ) was cooked to perfection, tender and moist with little fat and was not soaked in a overload of gravy. If I had to guess I would say that the yorkshire ,gravy and potatoes were home made (fluffy and light tasting ) unfortuantly for me though my partner stole half my yorkshire so I couldnt fully enjoy it. We enjoyed 2 bottles of white wine with our meal. Normally I am a person that can only enjoy a white wine if its made into a spritser but the wine they served ( I believe was the house white ) was truly perfect on its own. The desert was to die for . I had the home made ice cream in a edible chocolate lined bowel that was rich in flavour. I could not recommend this place more if I tried . All 5 of us left feeling satisfied and in utter amazement that we couldnt think of one bad thing to say about the experience. Thank you for making my mums birthday extra special . We will be retuning!

Walked in without a booking and were given a table for the early evening. It's a lovely dining space.
A basket of bread arrived, very good with a slightly salty aftertaste, good start. I don't like pasta so Italian menus can be a bit limiting for me, I chose the Figato con Pancetta. Liver and bacon isn't a dish that usually looks that good on a plate, this was a visual delight, the thin ribbons of liver tasted delicious. My partner, who loves pasta, assures me hers too was delicious. The staff glide effortlessly between tables and are warm and friendly.
It's 10 years since I last ate here so the Proprietors won't get rich on me, but when I'm in the area next time I will definitely be eating here.

This restaurant was recommended to us locally and it did not disappoint. The menu was long and varied. This isn't always a good sign but here it wasn't a problem. One of us is a meat eater - his Osso Buco was excellent. I am difficult to please but my fish was fresh and perfectly cooked and all the vegetables in a good selection were just as they should be. Our guest is a vegan but even he was pleasantly surprised that there were dishes he could enjoy. We were told the kitchen are happy to be flexible. Very busy on a Friday evening

We are midlanders so don't get to visit too often, but this is our second visit in maybe three years. Last time I had a knockout trout cooked in a herby pesto crust - it was delicious. This time, that wasn't on the menu, I would have tried something different anyway, but it's nice to see they ring the changes and don't sit on their laurels. Let me cut this short - I had a fantastic piece of salmon in a creamy sauce - marvellous others in the party had veal, cannelloni, spag bol, achicken dish and a steak - they were all wonderful. As were the starters, particularly enjoyed were the tricolore, and the king prawns. We had a one year old in the party, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive or forgiving - lovely family business.

Good, authentic food and friendly efficient service. We had a bit of a wait for a table ( we hadn't booked) but they looked after us with bringiong a pre-supper drink in the foyer - not ideal, but they made us as comfortable as could be under the circs but very accommodating of them and we thought it amusing

The staff, including the Italian owner, were all friendly and attentive. The tables were well spaced out and full, the service prompt, the atmosphere refined/quietly buzzy. I've tasted better Italian food but no complaints here, enjoyed it....certainly would return and recommend.
