We enjoyed a truly delicious meal in this restaurant with excellent and attentive service. The food is traditionally Italian and was of very good quality and well presented. The restaurant had a busy, buzzy atmosphere, clearly some of the diners were locals who ate there regularly. We would highly recommend.

We weren't familiar with Eastbourne but found ourselves there on a one-off visit. I was surprised how barren it was when looking for a reasonable place to eat. But after quite a bit of searching we came across this restaurant. It, and the place next door (also an Italian) were thriving on a cold, windy Monday night.
We chose this restaurant by virtue of its fixed-price 3 course menu. It was a good choice. Service was excellent from the moment we entered and throughout. Although they were full and could obviously have re-used the tables we were allowed to eat at our own pace, with good gaps between the courses. The menu offered good choices and the food was plentiful. The wine list was slightly expensive, and no house wine was offered.
But all-in-all an excellent night out, at an acceptable price for such quality food and service. I'd happily return.

My husband loved his seafood risotto, whereas I did not particularly enjoy my spaghetti bolognese. I was comparing this to our local Italian Restaurant I suppose, and it did not compare favorably. Rather dry, very little meat/sauce. There are so many restaurants in Eastbourne to try, I do not think I would return to this one.

I partner had been here on business and decided to take me for the weekend. The staff were very, very friendly and the meal was excellent. I would recommend you try this if ever you stay in Eastbourne

Had been told this was quite good for lunch when in town so we gave it a try mid week. Quite busy but we did not have to wait for service. Batter on my prawns was a bit heavy and under cooked inside but my veal in mushroom and cream sauce was delicious. My OH enjoyed his liver too. Decent choice of wine by the glass so we will go there again I am sure.

While this restaurant is slightly more pricey than the one next door, it is also quieter, though nonetheless busy. There is a good range of food on the menu and the food was well presented. Good to have brown rice risotto choices. The salad looked amazing. The food was excellent and very tasty although the salad ingredients, while they looked fantastic, did not quite deliver on taste.

Visited on a wet bank hoilday Monday. Restaurant was very full but got a table quickly. Drinks were reasonably priced. Starter of grilled Sardines was cooked to perfection. The Pizza was so much better than the ones dished up in the chain restaurants. It can get noisey here but that is all part of the atmosphere.
Will visit here again when in town.

A very busy restaurant, which as it gets busier, puts more pressure on the staff, and the service is then not as good. Food was ok, but nothing special, yes its ok, but could just be so much better, with good service.

We went for dinner with a couple of friends who were down for Airbourne. First impression was that they couldn`t have squeezed in any more people if they had tried, we were like sardines! It was very noisy but that was just people enjoying themselves. The food was very good and when we were eventually served the service was efficient, with our waiter remembering that I had asked for extra tomato sauce even though he was very busy. Our friends liked the fact that the waiting staff were Italian. Quite expensive so won`t be rushing back.

This restaurant is next door to Pomadora and Mozarella which are jointly owned. La Locanda is the 'posh' end but with much the same menu, just silver service (almost) on top. The food and service are excellent and the value reasonable. Eastbourne has a lack of 'ggod' restuarants and thism is probably the finest.

We went here on Saturday 29th August. Friendly staff and a good choice of menu although some might find it a bit pricey. The quality of food is good and it's certainly enough. Good range of wines to suit all tastes.
It did provide a "old tradition" of the owner going round welcoming the guests but it's an old fashioned thing and more "creepy" than a nice touch and something I personally would change if I was them.
Overall a nice place for lunch though so worth visiting.

I dined with a friend I hadn't seen for ages, and the staff were really nice, very tolerant of the fact that we took ages to order and eat our meal because we had a lot of catching up to do! The food was tasty, though not spectacular, and portions were quite small though enough. I suspect the demograpic in Eastbourne tends towards a smaller appetite. The restaurant was light and airy, and spotlessly clean. I would return if in the area.

Recommended to us by Jon at the New Wilmington Hotel.
My wife had swordfish and I had calves liver. Both dishes were excellent, as were the vegetables that came with them. Actually, my calves liver was one of the best I have ever had.
The profiteroles were a little disappointing, but it was late on Saturday (10:30 pm) so I imagine that they had been prepared quite a bit earlier. They weren't bad, just not up to the very hight standard of the rest of the meal.
The wine ( dry rose) was excellent and remarkably good value for money.

The restaurant came recommend so we booked in advance. Although completely full, we were served very quickly and our drinks arrived (a lovely chianti amongst others) with bread and olives. The menu was very varied with everything you would expect: salads, pastas, fish, meats. No pizza, although they can order it from the from the place nearby! I ordered from the weekday set menu (£18 for 2 courses or 3 for £21) minestrone soup, followed by veal in a wine, garlic, mushroom and cream sauce, served with fresh veg. The other half ordered salad caprese (tomato and mozzerella), followed by spag bog. Kids ordered 1 adult spag bog plus kids menu breadcrumbed chicken and chips (around £6 inc dessert). They didn't want starters but wished they had as when my soup arrived, they dug in like seagulls on a chip-wrapper! The waiter noticed and kindly brought more soup out and we all had some. Mains arrived all together and piping hot. Mine was cooked to perfection and the selection of veg was plentiful and varied. Youngest said her chicken was as good as mine and the other two enjoyed their spag bol (good portions). Desserts were fab - tiramisu for me, fresh fruit and icecream with the kids meal for the youngest, strudel for the other half and my eldest was too full. Polished off with coffee and complementary lemoncello slushy shots. I couldn't fault the food, service or atmosphere. We even got to 10% off with our "Tourism Passport" given to us by our hotel. This is a map and guide to the local area with a dozen or so recommended restaurants offering some form of discount (mostly 10% off food).
Throughly recommend and will be returning very soon!

It was a total delight to eat at this restaurant. Great atmosphere and lovely staff were matched by an extensive menu which provided us with excellent food. Not only was the food excellent in taste and cooking and presentation, but at the end of the evening, the bill was extremely reasonable. If we lived in Eastbourne,we would be regular patrons of La Locanda Del Duca.

The service and food can not be faulted, although I thought the rack of lamb was small for the price. The different tastes of everything we had were wonderful.
The staff are so efficient, well rehearsed , friendly and thoughtful. We mentioned it was a Birthday and we got a complimentary birthday pudding with candle and Happy Birthday sung by the staff with a limoncello to end. Thank you for a fab evening .
If there is something I would change its the lighting, it was a little stark but wouldn't stop me going back.
We all enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend to others.

Whenever we go down to Eastbourne to a show we always have dinner first. This restaurant is by far and away the best we have tried thus far. The place is lovely, staff efficient and very courteous and the food is the best we have had in Eastbourne. The Calves liver and bacon I had was excellent and my Wife's veal was superb, followed by lovely pancakes filled with cream.
We will be going back!

It has been some years since I've dined here. It was excellent then and still is. Perfect for a special occasion although this was just a Sunday evening dinner treat. An extensive menu and drinks card although not that expensive for the quality of food. The place was packed and it is a delight to report that this did not affect the high level of service. The owners are to be commended for having a large number of staff to deal promptly and efficiently with the demands of full premises. I won't be leaving it so long to return.

Reliable. Efficient. Popular - teeming with customers. Large menu - quickly and efficiently dispensed. Dishes seemed rather formulaic.

My husband and I didn't have a plan and came across this place at 10 at night on a Friday. They served us as if it wasn't that late at all, we didn't realise we were the last customers of the night but they never rushed us in any way. We had asparagus parmigiana and melanzane for starters which were excellent. I had gnocchi a la ragu and my husband had fegato a la veneziana. Both were excellent and the portions were more than enough. Would definitely go again!

Second time here with friends,
Can't really fault it either time, food good well presented and hot.Service very professional although friendly.
Excellent mussels with chorizo, also good calamari.Very good sea bream with nice veg and good bread.
To our Belgium friend, of course it was not full of Italians, in case you didn't notice it is in Eastbourne, and also what's wrong with frozen prawns anyway. It is quite old fashioned but we love that and you are never made to feel you should always be eating off the a la carte menu., if you just want a set lunch.
All in all it's great so go and enjoy it.
