An enjoyable dining experience needs something more than just good food. This restaurant has all the extras - a warm welcome - friendly and attentive staff - attractive table setting with floral decoration - comfortable chairs - and a dish of olives on the table. Then a basket of fresh bread quickly delivered. All this has you feeling good before you even read the menu. And the food didn't disappoint either. We ordered from the fixed price menu - the food was hot and attractively presented - well deserving the excellent ratings this retaurant has received from others.

Great italian food,a good selection of dishes priced to suit all budgets and good sized portions we could not eat all the vegetables and we dined in a party of 4. There is also a lot of staff so we were always well looked after.Really enjoyable evening .

2nd year running here, after the tennis. our 4 starters & 4 mains were all served well & enjoyed by all. Cocky waiter spilled red wine over the table with little apology (not impressed).Food menu is extensive & up to scratch. I estimate the wine list to be over-priced. As regular wine drinkers I consider we know which wines are reasonably priced without professing to be "wine snobs". Only other factor which slightly spoiled an enjoyable evening was that their tables are too close together & waiters/diners are constantly brushing past your chair. My rating is based on food quality however.

Called on spec without booking. Choice of tables offered on a busy night in a well lit, attractive clean and tidy restaurant. Waiter most polite when ordering and food arrived within reasonable time. Happy with both the extensive menu and choice of food ordered.
Typical of Italian staff, all were most polite and charming. We will return when next in town.

Monday's are not good days to visit places, quite a few people take a rest day then, so my friend and I arrived in Eastbourne with no plans in mind... However we are fairly local and had previously looked up the best Eastbourne restaurants on Trip Advisor so when we came across La Locanda del Duca, we knew it was in the top ten and we felt confident that we would be well served with delicious food.
We were not disappointed, the staff were quick to welcome us, were attentive throughout the meal and unobtrusive. (I hate waiters/tresses coming up to the table every five minutes to check we are enjoying our food - it's intrusive)
The menu was varied and reasonably priced and we had not difficulty finding something interesting and appealing for our meal in spite of my diet restrictions.
Our drinks and food arrived quickly in spite of the fact we were first through the doors. It was delicious and generously portioned, the house wine was good and the food presentation appealing. Additionally the restaurant was smart and comfortable, we appreciated the comfortable chairs and the coordinated table linen. They do recommend you book ahead, but as we were early there was no problem getting a table on a Monday.
Thoroughly pleasant experience and would recommend the restaurant unreservedly.

In town for the tennis and took pot-luck on finals day evening. They found a table for us, possibly due to a late-show, and we were delighted with the service, the food and atmosphere. Our half-bottle of house white came very quickly, as did our starters. More bread was offered and our mains, Ravioli and Inviltini Di Procuitto were excellent. The waiting staff and management work at a breakneck speed to make sure everyone is promptly attended to, but without feeling that they're being pressurised to finish and leave. Our bill, for the 2-course menu, was £47.80, not cheap but worth it, in fact we went to the local convenience store to get cash back so we could return and give the lovely lady (red dress) a well-deserved tip for the staff as the card machine didn't offer the option to add a gratuity. I imagine a good Restaurant in Italy would be just like this one!

Fantastic authentic Italian food at this restaurant with a wide choice in the menu. We went in tennis week so it was packed and bustling but the service was still excellent.

Excellent value, good food and good service. Always eat there when visiting the area, but unless booking a table unlikely to get in at peak evening times.

Every time we decided to have dinner at La Locanda Del Duca there is no faults, always great food, very attentive, polite service from the all staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Well recommended.

Very nice restaurant. We came there with friends at quite busy time, Saturday night. The service was very good, had to wait a bit for the main dish, but not too much. Delicious salmon, cannelloni and sea bass. Not expensive, we paid 93 for 4 persons and was absolutely full and happy :)

We dropped in without booking during tennis week. Seeing the number of people turned away whist we dined we were clearly lucky to get a table as the place was packed. We were told that our table was booked for later so we had to be out no time. Not a problem for us but it required prompt service which was great and was delivered. The service was first class and the food very good. There were however two downsides: the tables are packed in; and we found a particular client ignorant in the extreme. In short this fat guy on his way to his table forced his way between our table and the next, nearly taking our table contents within and wiped his bottom on our bread as he went. No apology, no class but total ignorance.

We would rate this as the best restaurant we have ever been to! The food was delicious, the staff attentive, friendly and the overall ambience second to none.
We have already booked our next two dinners!

Have been visiting this restaurant for many, many years during the Tennis week. Ate in Friday evening and the food was as expected, superb. Very busy evening and some visitors caused quite a scene over a booking. The staff handled the
whole episode wonderfully and remained polite. I think I would have asked them to leave, they were very rude to some of the staff. Despite this and every table booked, service was excellent, the staff remained very cheerful.Always on top of the list when eating in Eastbourne, whatever time of year.

The owners of this very special Italian really know what they're doing!

Everything is top notch about it - food, service and wines - yet it is good value and quite relaxed.

Every year we visit Eastbourne to see our relatives & have a sort of reunion. They say the best family time is around the dinner table & that couldn't be more true of this amazing restaurant. It was by far one of the best meals we've had in Eastbourne.

We went here for an evening meal and we were again not disappointed. The place was buzzing (it’s best to book a table here, in fact, I'd say it's a necessity to avoid disappointment) and the waiting staff were friendly & welcoming, attentive but not pushy and they were efficient.

The menu offers a good choice of food even on the fixed price menu and the wine selection is also very good offering wine by the glass and/or bottle.

The only, slight disappointment was the starter of deep fried prawns which weren’t crispy and, to be honest, were nothing special, the rest of the food was excellent. La Locanda is slightly more “upmarket” than it’s neighbouring “Pomodoro e Mozzarella” and is worth going to if you want a meal just that bit more special.

The venue is located just off the Memorial Roundabout on the edge of the shopping area.
Restaurant offers set menus as well as individually priced dishes. The cuisine is international with some Italian flavour. We had lamb chops and veal in tasty sauce and both were excellent. The portions are not that big, though.
Friendly staff and good ambiance despite the rather dated décor. The tables are well spaced out and all diners had plenty of room.
Considered the best Italian in town and for a good reason.

Our first time in Eastbourne and we booked lunch here prior to seeing a theatre show. We couldn't have been more delighted with our choice! A lovely traditional Italian restaurant with linen tablecloths, fresh bread and olives on the table and welcoming . and professional staff. There was a great atmosphere, lots to choose from on the menu and the food was absolutely delicious. It felt very special. We appreciated lovely touches like the complimentary lemon sorbet at the end of our meal too. We had a really enjoyable lunch and would highly recommend it to anyone.

This was the first time we had visited Eastbourne and were looking for a restaurant for a meal for our anniversary. We chose La Locanda del Duca based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The meal, ambience and service were excellent. We couldn't have asked for more - it was a lovely way to celebrate our anniversary.

Have been to this restaurant and it's sister restaurant Pomodoro next door too many to remember. Have gone with large groups or date night with my husband. Always efficient and professional. Food always good. The menu is extensive and there is a "chefs special" option. The owner always comes to every table to ensure things are OK and you are always offered an after dinner drink on the house. Recommend thoroughly.
