We have had three great evenings in this fantastic restaurant since Christmas and whether as part of a couple, a family group or a birthday gathering we had brilliant service and delicious food each time. Highly recommended.

I have been a regular diner since they opened. The owner regularly walks round the restaurant keeping an eye on thing making sure the customers are well served. The manageress also is always on hand and checks the customers are happy. The food both pasta and meat courses are always good as are the deserts.

My quiet romantic birthday meal was excellent in every way. Excellent food, excellent service and atmosphere. Company was good too.....but that was my husband!

This restaurant never fails to deliver excellent food, in good surroundings, with fantastic service. We tend to come here for all our family celebratory meals and have never had a bad meal. Lunch time is our favourite time, as evenings, particularly weekends when we have been, have been very busy, as you would expect of this outstanding restaurant. I have a dietary problem and they cater for this brilliantly and without any fuss. Would not hesitate to recommend La Locanda Del Duca!

This restaurant is simply excellent its a must go! The pasta was divine and the service was excellent.. To our surprise the bill for 2 without wine is around £40-50 .. Which is super cheap compare to the quality of the place .. We will surely visit it again when we are in the area.

A group of us decided to have a meeting with a meal at La Locanda. The venue was great as was the food and service and the owner Luca was as welcoming as you could be. A perfect evening.

We eat here again mid week after being impressed by our first visit a few months ago.
Nice atmosphere, lively & accommodating staff & most importantly good Italian food with an acceptable wine list.
The gnocchi is obviously homemade & very good, this visit I had the baby calamari which could not have been better cooked, my husband enjoyed his mussels in a light saffron juice, my only disappointment was my seafood risotto which was creamy but weirdly chewy - made with 'brown' rice so the menu stated, definitely not the usual risotto rice, it certainly gave my jaw muscles a work-out that's for sure - not what you expect from a risotto & not recommended - if it ain't broke guys, don't fix it!

Ate here with a friend on a Friday evening and enjoyed an excellent . The calves' liver and cinnamon ice cream were especially good. Very welcoming atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. Would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.

We didn't have a reservation but got a table quickly on a busy Sunday lunchtime.
Portions generous, good value for money with no hidden extras. Service was a bit rushed to start, but then slowed down.
My husband's starter was disappointing and not what we expected, my starter of soup was hot and generous, but a bit bland and unsure if homemade or not. My husband had pasta for main and I had the roast lamb. I was pleasantly surprised by the lamb - an English roast in an Italian restaurant could have been asking for trouble! However, it was tasty, the lamb was a bit fatty, but again generous portions. The tables are quite close together, so not much of a romantic feel. The clientele seemed to be mainly "mature" people, but that just made us feel young! Would definitely go again.

Very welcoming upon arrival by taking coats etc. The service was excellent. We both had Sea Bass after excellent starters, very tasting and plenty of fish. As we were both full, we had Tiramasu to share, which finished the meal off perfectly! It was quite noisy but a busy evening. Would have liked a candle and or flowers on the table, but considering the price for valentines weekend of £32 for both of us including soft drinks, very much value for money.

What a find. We had an excellent lunch. The food was superb and the staff were really friendly. Nice atmosphere and a good wine list. I can thoroughly recommend the fish stew; one of the best i've had. We will return as soon as we can

This is a great venue (refurbished since my last visit) and I would highly recommend the three course set menu offer (which is not available on a Friday or Saturday). At around £12 this included an excellent pan fried sea bass which was very fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented with crushed potatoes and a zingy, fresh tomato sauce. The fruit salad was also delicious and well worth paying the small difference over the two course option. The Montepulciano served by the glass was excellent quality.
My only criticism was that the “prawn salad” is served ‘cocktail’ style without the option of declining the sauce and that the leaves were too chilled for me. We were also given the wrong bill although this was speedily withdrawn with genuine apology.
Arriving at midday, we were far from the first diners and the restaurant was buzzing by 1pm with many obviously regular customers.
Highly recommended.

My partner, Francois, and I had the great pleasure of attending the 10th Birthday party of
La Locanda del Duca on Wednesday 5th February. We had a wonderful evening - the staffhad taken so much trouble to decorate the restaurant with numerous balloons in the Italian
colours of red, white and green and they continued to provide exceptional service throughoutthe evening. The splendid chef, Carlos and his team had prepared a superb menu which was
a delight. To add to the atmosphere we had the wonderful singing of Mike Barber to entertainus throughout the evening.
Luca, the owner of the restaurant, was there to ensure that all his guests were cared for - his
warmth and friendliness always make dining at his restaurant a special experience. Luca originally came to Eastbourne as chef with his business partner Vittorio. During those earlyyears he trained his chef to his own high standards. After the sad death of Vittorio he was
able to take over "front of house" happy in the knowledge that he had left his kitchen in verycapable hands.
We dine at La Locanda del Duca on a regular basis and it is far and away the best
restaurant we have visited, not only in Eastbourne but elsewhere.
CONGRATULATIONS TO LUCA AND ALL HIS TEAM AND GOOD LUCK FOR THEYEARS TO COME1

We were in Eastbourne to celebrate my wife's birthday and La Locanda Del Duca had been highly recommended to us by friends. We were certainly not disappointed.
Right from the start there was a welcoming atmosphere and the service was friendly and efficient, without in any way being rushed. There was a good menu with plenty of choice and we enjoyed the food very much.
We certainly hope to return to Eastbourne when the weather is better and a meal at this restautant will be something to look forward to.

I was astonished, to say the least, at the comments that one of Your Senior Advisers gave to the best Restaurant in Eastbourne.
Let me introduce myself: I have been in Catering for a few years, trained in Switzerland, worked in Lausanne, Paris, Bruxelles, then I came to England.I started as low as "commis debarasseur" but less then 3 years later I was Restaurant Manager in a top London Hotel.
Several years are gone by, and now semi-retired, having moved to Eastbourne, I do other activities and enjoy good food, wine, atmosphere, eating out.I dine out with my partner at least twice a week; we have been in 100`s of restaurants, and being very critical, but not demanding, I only choose the best!!!
SO:How can YOU honestly judge "LA LOCANDA DEL DUCA" as:
- terrible - miserable OWNER - and \2micro waded LASAGNA?
I eat at this restaurant very often, so do my friends belonging to the several societies of which we are members: WE all consider "La LOCANDA" as the best Restaurant in town and surroundings!
Just look at the comments received: 172 of them VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT against the 8 poor/terrible....Now just read those 8:
the young gentleman needed a larger portion...another had to wait 10 minutes for his minestrone (and was too hot...)
the party were wrongly put in the restaurant next door, so the NEGATIVE comments were NOT concerning cooking/service of the Locanda..!!Anothert had more spaghetti than vongole (could one name a restaurant serving more vongole than spaghetti???)
BUT then came YOURS:
At first I thought that Your adviser was mistaking with some other restaurant:"MISERABLE OWNER"?? how can anyone say that??
Luca is one of the most kind, gentle and obliging person that We know, very professional too!
But then the comment "micro waved lasagna" then I knew...HE should be judged and NOT the Restaurant!!
I make my own lasagna: it takes at least ONE hour to prepare; this dish is prepared in advance, let it rest, and needed put in the oven or microwave and served.Everybody knows that, even a child......
I always had respect for professional comments, but if Yours are that, I will then consider them with a pinch of salt....and make sure that my many friends do the same!!
Have a nice day

In the past 6 years we, a group of 9 friends, have taken in the New Year 5 times at La Locanda. We travel from Kent, Herts and Berkshire. All agree It has been excellent every time. Menu good for both carnivores and vegetarians; service warm, friendly and efficient. We will be booking again for next year. Thank you, staff of La Locanda, for all your efforts.

The best Italian restaurant we have been to for a long time, superb food beautifully presented in clean and pleasant premises, the service was friendly and efficient without being too fussy, Nell was our waitress and she was a delight. My wife ordered Sea Bass it came with a delicious creamy saffron sauce, I had fillet steak which was cooked medium, as requested, and was really tender. This is our fourth visit to this establishment and is now firmly part of our Eastbourne experience. A REAL TREAT.

We loved this restaurant, the service was very good and the main was also very good but we was a little disappointed with the deserts we had and would not order them again. We would definitely go back and would recommend it to others, just don't look forward too much to the desert.
