An exceptional restaurant in terms of excellent, reasonably priced food. Superb waiting and attention, free bread and water without being asked. Our first visit but we were treated like old friends and we will certainly be returning. The food was also very well presented, superbly cooked, and served in a timely manner. Superb.

The fixed price menu with a choice of 4 dishes in each of three course was great value at around £20 in an otherwise medium priced restaurant. There are main courses at around £20 but plenty under £10.
The ambience was great if a little noisy as it filled up during the evening. The service was very attentive yet not rushed and there was no hustle to clear our table at the end of our meal. Complimentary liqueurs rounded off the whole experience. We will be back.

This is our regular "special" restaurant. Every time we go the food, service, ambience -in fact everything - is excellent. It is not expensive unless you want something extra special. Whatever you order - will be made to the best standard possible and only ever from the best ingredients. 4 restaurants at this time are listed ahead of this on tripadvisor - however, it's worth noting that they are all tea rooms or cafes. If you want a marvellous meal for either lunch or dinner THIS IS No 1 in Eastbourne ... and probably quite some distance! Thank you to the staff for their always attentive service. Just waiting for the next visit :)

This is a real italian restaurant, which also means that the interior is not very stylish. But the food is great and the service is excellent, which makes up for it. We went at 7 PM and the restaurant was still quite empty. However, by 8 PM it was completely full (this was on a Friday night). I had a warm goat cheese followed by salmon, while my wife had the mozarella salad and the lasagna. The food was good, the lasagna was even excellent, while not being "haute cuisine" (but it is not expected to be and the bill is not haute cuisine either).
I had a truly excellent wine, a Barolo of 2006. The only snag was that I am convinced the menucard said it was 19 GBP for the wine (which was surprisingly little), where it ended up to be 39 GBP. I did not complain as it was the price I had expected. In total, our bill was 80 GBP, including bread and sparkling water, an italian coffee and a grappa on the house.
Good value and excellent dining.

Quite the best Italian restaurant ever and that after two recent trips to Italy! If this is the fourth best restaurant in Eastbourne the other three must be off the scale. We were not over impressed with the town itself but will return if only to eat at La Locanda again. .

Fantastic food, best Lasagne outside of Italy. Free breads and Olives to start and ordered the delicious Tiramaso for pudding.
Will definately come back when next in town

This is the sister restaurant of Pomodoro and is in fact next door. If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Pomodoro, then this restaurant is ideally suitable. I would describe it as slightly more formal than Pomodoro and ideal for a quiet meal for two or with the family. Again, I have been using this restaurant for twelve years and on not one occasion have I had anything other than a pleasurable dining experience with a wide choice of good value but exceptionally tasty dishes.
The staff are brilliant and again, some of them have been there for a very long time.

I visited this lovely restaurant last evening with my wife and some friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. The setting was wonderful, the food and choice of menu was excellent and the service and staff were very accommodating, polite and courteous.
Nothing was rushed and nothing was too much trouble for them, they even allowed our own Birthday cake and the staff even sang Happy Birthday with us to my wife. This is a wonderful experience of true Italian food and atmosphere, and we would return again without doubt.
Definitely worth a visit and a return.

Excellent Italian food at this gem of a restaurant. The portions are enormous, and the food is high quality. Also very impressed by the attentiveness of the waiting staff and the welcoming atmosphere.

First visit for me, my friends who are locals use it often. I was most impressed with the quality of the food, its presentation and
the service we received. The cost and the choice of the dishes served is excellent. If you have not eaten there yet, give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We visited this restaurant recently for a lunch to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday. We hoped for somewhere a bit special and both the food and the service were excellent. The menu has a very good fish section as well as meat and the normal Italian offerings. Would definitely recommend it for a special occasion.

The food was excellent, we all cleared our plates, the staff were very attentive and the prices were very good apart from £3.70 for a bottle of beer. If you come to Eastbourne you must give this restaurant a try.

We stumbled across this place when we were in Eastbourne for the night. We hadn't booked a table but were able to be fitted in as long as we ate earlyish - about 6.30 (they were fully booked after this - it was a Sat night). It was a little early for us but are glad we did as the service and food was great. Really friendly but non intrusive service, staff were attentive and courteous, attention to detail was there and service was at a good pace. The food and wine was lovely. We'd definitely eat here again.

Servers
The staff were friendly and attentive though obviously very busy.
Atmosphere
Was very busy and so had a good atmosphere. The decor was very nice and the place was clean and well looked after.
Drinks
I had a pepsi and my partner had a Pina Colada which was very nice.
Starter
I had a lovely prawn cocktail though the salad could have done with a dressing as it tasted quite bland on its own.
My partner had a goats cheese starter which was very nice.
Main
I had veal escalopes in a creamy sauce which came with sauteed potatoes and some veg. The veg was cooked very well, the potatoes were nice. The Veal and sauce were ok though nothing to write home about.
My partner had spaghetti bolognese. It was a decent sized portion, which I had to finish for her, and it was nice enough but nothing really special.
I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend the restaurant but if I was ever asked about it I wouldn't try and steer anyone away from it

The best Italian restaurant we have been to for a long time, superb food beautifully presented in clean and pleasant premises, the service was friendly and efficient without being too fussy, Nell was our waitress and she was a delight. My wife ordered Sea Bass it came with a delicious creamy saffron sauce, I had fillet steak which was cooked medium, as requested, and was really tender. This is our fourth visit to this establishment and is now firmly part of our Eastbourne experience. A REAL TREAT.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Starter of prawn cocktail huge but tasteless. Excellent wines. Main courses ranged from good to average. Steak was good, sea bass good, liver adequate. vegetables horribly bland.

Went here for dinner on our first night in Eastbourne. Got there a tad early (5pm) but they were happy to let us in early for dinner. Staff were very welcoming and friendly which is always a plus. We had the Chianti Classico which was quite delicious, followed by a shared starter of mussels which were excellent. For mains my wife had the spaghetti with clams and I had the gorgonzola gnocchi. Really enjoyed both dishes, the spaghetti was much lighter and tasty, and the gnocchi was as expected. I would rate 3.5 if that were an option as the overall experience was really enjoyable and I would visit again if back in Eastbourne.
