We spent a lovely few days here for our Ladies Festival, and the Proprietors Neil and Wendy Kirby worked hard to make the event a success, which it was. Our rooms were clean and spacious with lovely sea views, and every comfort provided. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and made our stay and us feel special. The food was excellent, with a good choice and served effeciently.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone, whether celebrating a special occasion or for just a relaxing break, and we look forward to returning for one in the very near future.

We enjoyed our first stay in Eastbourne and had a room with king size bed overlooking the sea which was a lovely view. The room had been recently refurbished I think and was well stocked in the bathroom and on the tray. The room was a good size and had plenty of drawers, hangers etc and was spotless - the housekeeping seemed excellent. The breakfast deserves a special mention. It was served at the table in their conservatory overlooking the sea and it was lovely not to have to use a buffet but to have table service for all parts of the breakfast. The fruit salad was exceptional but everything you could possibly want was available. The staff serving our breakfast were delightful. I was quite sorry we were only staying two nights. The corridors are a bit of a rabbit warren and there were a few problems with the lift when we stayed but I am sure that was quickly fixed. They have a very pleasant bar with seats over looking the sea and very reasonably priced bar food. I had a really excellent and massive ham and cheese toasty before driving home and it was real proper ham off the bone and a meal in itself. Thanks to a lovely member of staff who moved her car we were able to find parking on the street easily on our arrival. There is only one reason I have not given five stars which is that I found the room very warm at night despite being autumn and fear it might be very hot in summer. [There was a small portable fan in the room]. Also when we were there some work was being done on the outside of a room below us which caused a lot of mess and dust to land on our window rather spoiling the view and our desire to open the window. Hopefully this is just temporary, We would definitely consider staying again.

We stayed last week end for a Ladies Festival. Our rooms were on the second floor with lovely sea views. The rooms are comfortable and very clean that is down to the house keepers so thank you. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming nothing is to much trouble and they will go out of the way to help you. On arrival at the hotel we had to park in the overflow parking which is just a short walk so no big deal, on returning to hotel our cases had been taken to our rooms so that was nice. We had a wonderful weekend stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Its all down to the management and staff that we were made to feel so welcome. Thank You All

Langham is a nice hotel and the staff are really first class but I've always felt that stars alone don't make a good hotel. Langham needs to pay attention to small things which make all the difference. There was a little mould and mildew in the shower which could have been easily dealt with...the loo seat was loose and the box which should have contained a sewing kit was empty - the telephone was also unplugged. Room was otherwise clean and comfortable. Breakfast very good and room service food although limited, was prompt and very nice. Would happily stay here again but would like to see the Langham do itself justice and pay more attention to the little things.

The Langham in Eastbourne reflects the experience of the hotel owner having worked in some top class west end hotels. The food is as good as it gets and the staff have been trained to the highest standard. Good quality fixtures and fittings mask the fact that in some areas there is a slight, but only slight tiredness. This however should not put you off. You will not find a better hotel in Eastbourne and be pushed to find one its equal on the South Coasr

We spent last weekend at this hotel in Eastbourne at a Masonic Ladies Festival. The room was on the second floor, overlooked the sea front and was nice and clean. The food was beautiful and plentyful, I don't think anyone who stays there could complain about being hungary! The staff are all very helpful and go out of their way to make sure that all your needs are catered for. Our only complaint is that they do need to sort out some kind of air con. Everywhere in the hotel is extremely HOT and airless.
It was a shame that it was all over so quickly but we do have some nice memories of the weekend.

I stayed here recently with my partner, having left our original hotel after a very uncomfortable night in a cold, damp room so when we saw the four poster room that i managed to book,we were pleased to find a comfortable and clean room with a lovely seaview. We found it warm but we weren't going to complain. We had room 124 which apart from the usual refreshments, had two decanters containing port and sherry.
The ensuite was fine with good quality toiletries and towels. The bed was firm with sheets and blanket.
The hotel has nice communal areas with sun terrace and a ramp for the disabled at the front.
There is room service with sandwiches served from about 11 to 7am.There are sandwiches and some hot food available through the bar, including sandwiches, salads, fish and chips and whitebait.
I found the staff polite on the whole, the exception were those waiting in the restaurant at breakfast, they seemed grudgingly polite to us,we were not aware of a dress code for dinner(presumably smart casual)but hardly applicable at breakfast. We were dressed casually.I found the staff mercenary, making judgements in some cases about who would be the better tippers. Some clients it seemed were favoured on a promise, look after dad and me and i'll see you right. We were often made to wait,i had a menu snatched from my hands while i was reading ,only for it to be given to a "smarter"looking woman at the next table,i asked why we were waiting for our order to be taken ,the waiter gave me an inane smile that came close to a grimace, this same man snatched the card and when my breakfast arrived,it was plonked down. The food itself was mediocre. We didn't eat dinner in there.
The waiting staff have the gall to pre-empt a tip by saying thank you when the guests are leaving and a basket placed near the door.I didn't leave one,i feel that polite service to all is important.
There is a conservatory which is popular and we ate there once.the service was slow compared to those who came after us.Twice were told that the space was full and the last day,we were told that there was only space for couples as there were only four seat tables available, only to see another more favoured couple walk straight in.
The hotel has been renovated in the early 2000's so its all fine in the communal areas and our room,i can't say anything about others.
I would return gladly but not eat in the restaurant.I understand that the Christmas four day package is popular.
They cater for weddings and formal large groups and there is an Honeymoon Suite.I think that they can hold conferences here in the basement space.

Stayed at this hotel on Saturday for one night, one of the best nights sleep I have had in a long time, staff all very friendly. All rooms I understand have been recently refurbished - and from what we experienced this has been done to a very high standard. We will definitely be back, Breakfast was excellent freshly cooked and served to your table.

We stayed on a sat night. Our greeting was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean, comfortable and contained all the usual tea, water ,biscuits toiletries, hairdryer ext. Although unfortunately without the stunning sea views, our room was at the back and very quiet. The bar staff we encountered were cheerful and helpful and as the hotel was hosting a large gathering, there was a nice bustly atmosphere. My only slight complaint was that everywhere was too warm, as was our room overnight , even with an open window.
The hotel is a little dated but the view and position sort of help to counter that. The breakfast choice was extensive and speedy even though they were extremely busy.

This is a hotel which seems to be a favourite of coach parties and therefore attracts an older generation. As such it does cater to such a clientele and therefore the hotel lacks some more modern touches.

The room we had was very dated although the bathroom was really modern - a bit of a paradox. Having said that we did sleep well.

The dinner was priced at £16 for two courses and appeared good value but the food quality was very average and the menu certainly lacked imagination and wasn't particularly well cooked. I guess the presence of so many people from the coach parties meant that there was a lot of prepared meals served and a lack of any real cooking. If we were staying longer we would have eaten out.

The breakfast was OK but everything had to be ordered from a menu. There was no buffet even for juices and breads. It was OK though but again nothing special.

For the price paid the hotel represents good value but it's rather like stepping back in time.

We were in Eastbourne for a Ladies Festival and stayed here at the Langham. The hotel is very nicely appointed, with wonky floors and a warren of corridors - it's an old building - and spacious dining halls and bar areas.
We spent 2 nights there in a lovely double room with en-suite (lovely shower) and lots of storage and used it as a base to explore Eastbourne.
As the hotel is quite an old building and is located right on the beach, there is very limited parking on site, so we had to leave our cars at the local TA base which is just a few minutes walk away - not a problem.
The food was excellent, befitting a Ladies Festival, and the 5 courses all arrived in good time with no rushing of the guests at all.
Breakfast, on the other hand, was a different affair.
Once seated at the table and with our breakfast order taken, the coffee and juice arrived within ten minutes but the meals routinely took 45 minutes or more - not just for us but for most people in the restaurant. How can it take that long to cook a full English or prepare a croissant?
Anyway, breakfast aside, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This was the 4th time we stayed at the Langham and it just gets better. The hotel is well cared for with many loving touches. This makes it stand out from others. The views of the beach are stunning whatever time of year you visit. It's well worth paying a little extra for a sea view room. The choice and quality of food is excellent and very reasonably priced especially compared with other establishments. The staff are a great asset to the hotel being friendly, caring, efficient and helpful.
Thank you to everyone at the Langham for making this hotel so special.

We stayed here on a short break as it came up as an offer on a discount site. We stayed in a superior room with a sea view. The view was great, although the room was a little on the small side. It was adequate for the two of us and our stuff, but I wouldn't describe it as spacious.

The bed was very comfortable' although there was a gap between the bed and the headboard that allowed pillows to slip down. I had used the cushions as additional support under my pillows on the first night and housekeeping provided an additional pillow when making up the room - without being asked - so a bonus point here.

The place was generally very clean, although the towel radiator in the bathroom could do with a proper dust.

The welcome was warm and efficient, and the staff and service throughout the hotel and restaurant were very good. We only had breakfast in the restaurant - in the conservatory looking out over the sea each day. The service was faultless here. Food-wise it was also good, although you only get one rasher of bacon with the full english and the sausage had a consistency indicating a lower meat content than I would have liked. The rest of the breakfast stuff was good - the smoked salmon in particular is very nice and the porridge a great consistency and very creamy. A good selection of preserves, honey, Marmite etc. for your toast as well. They also provided soya milk for my wife, and checked with us when she ordered things (porridge, scrambled egg) that were made with normal milk to see if that was OK - another bonus point.

I had booked parking at the rear of the hotel for the three nights, although someone else had taken my space on the first night. The hotel offered a 'half space' free of charge which worked out OK and I got my space for the other 2 nights.

There was a discrepancy on the bill at check-out - somebody's dinner, wine and water had been incorrectly charged to our room but this was quickly rectified without any argument and we left happy customers.

We would definitely return as we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel.

Not knowing what to expect on our first visit to Eastbourne it was a wonderful experience to be greeted by a courteous and efficient staff and that continued throughout our visit. The service in both restaurant and bedroom was outstanding as was the food and in a delightful setting. In all of this what stands out in our memory is the attention to detail. Those little extras which mean so much to a guest.

Stayed four nights in superior sea view room which was great, comfy chairs in bay window which were super for relaxing/admiring sea view, very comfortable bed only headboard fitted to high on wall causing pillow to fall between it and mattress topper also when bed was remade daily it looked super until you pulled the bed clothes back and discovered the bottom sheet had not been smoothed and tucked in on its own, aside from the headboard and not good bedmaking everything faultless. Super walk in shower, all very clean.
Breakfast served to your table and delicious as was the three course evening meal that we had on two evenings in dining room, staff very attentive and helpful. Pre booked parking at rear of hotel for £8 per day which was great due to mobility problems. Hope to return.

This hotel has a delightful restaurant with seating in their conservatory overlooking the sea and promenade. Had lunch there today but dinner too is always excellent.. Great food, service is exemplary and such comfortable surroundings. Certainly good value for money.

We have just had our Ladies Festival here and cannot praise it enough, the room overlooking the sea was amazing, the staff were very helpful and friendly , the food was delicious, hot, tasty, plenty of choice and well presented. The Manager Simon was very attentive and listened to everything we had to say. The only negative point was it was very warm in the restaurant and the gentlemen were wearing jackets. Thankyou so much the Langham.

Stayed for 2 nights at this charming and comfortable hotel. Had a sea front view double room. Bed was comfortable and room plenty big enough with coffee table and two chairs in the bay window to look out. Bathroom clean and tidy. Tea and coffee makings in room with kettle. Had full English breakfast in the restaurant, very nice and great views. There is a lovely veranda at the front with plenty of seating and again great views. The hotel has limited parking, however there is plenty of free parking in the adjoining streets and a parking bay opposite the hotel which is free after 6pm till 8am and then £4.10 for the day which can be paid by bank card and on the phone. There is a bus stop across the road from the hotel, buses running into town. Sure to return.

We visited the hotel for 2 nights for an organised ladies weekend. The room we had was fantastic with great sea views and a lovely decor. The hotel staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The room was fantastic with great portion sizes and there was lots of choice. We were really lucky with the weather and enjoyed lovely walks along the promenade to the pier and typical fish and chips. We played mini golf nearby and visited the Redoubt fort which was free to visit. Beachy head was also a short drive away and well recommended with the amazing coastal views.

We arrived on Wednesday 30th August on our Anniversary. The room was amazing, clean and over looking the sea front. We decided to have our meal at the hotel and sat in the conservatory. The meal was fabulous, the staff are lovely. They make sure everything is as it should be. We were only booked to stay the one night, but we decided to stay another night. We were very happy that the Langham could accommodate us. We had the windows open at night and it wasn't noisy at all. The bed was very comfortable, and the towels were very luxurious. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, again the staff were brilliant. All in all our trip was fantastic. Thank you to all the Langham staff, well presented, very polite and professional. I am reading the owners book at the moment. I am really enjoying it. Neil has had good training and experience in the past and it definitely shows in the running of his hotel. We will definitely be coming back. We couldn't fault the room or the service. I would just like to point out the bar area does need lifting light wise, and also the small lounge could be a tad brighter.

This hotel has become a regular trip for us a few times each year.
We have just enjoyed another stay at the Langham during the air show weekend and loved it as always, so much so that we are back there in September with friends.
Welcome is great, rooms are lovely, restaurant and breakfast are first class and best of all are the friendly well trained staff.
Neil (the owner) although very busy, always takes time to have a chat amd make you feel welcome.

First stay. Decor a bit old fashioned. Bar area awful - needs some soft lighting and updating. Room OK with good bed, storage and modern shower room. However the shower room was tiny and the smallest ever shower cubicle. Housekeeping excellent.
Breakfasts excellent. Staff good and Owner very helpful. Downside is the parking.
Although we reserved 2 car parking spaces beforehand - they were taken and we had a lot of hassle with parking issues. Room on front also noisy with windows open.

This was the most recent visit, and I have to say that this time we felt a bit disappointed as we always normally get perfection in everything ,from the room to the service etc.Our room was impeccable ,as usual but then it was little things at breakfast time that became a let down .There was quite a lot of staff changes that you can't help but notice as we have been used to the same faces over the years.I understand that the hotel industry has a bigger turnover of employees than most work environments but as a guest ,you do begin to perhaps take things for granted when you have previously received 100%in all areas. It was things like the breakfast order wrongly taken on more than one occasion burnt toast each morning, stains on the table cloth ,water for the tea not hot enough to brew the tea!The staff were all lovely I think that we over estimated that everything would always be as the year before(perfect) We did not see senior staff around as we have before maybe someone has taken their finger off the pulse of the hotel for a while and that is the reason for the little niggles that I have told about. We do not like complaining but we looked forward to our holiday so much and even with the abovementioned we would be happy to return.
