We didn't actually stay at the hotel but felt we should tell about the food we had there.
We were passing through Eastbourne and stopped here for lunch and had one of the best ploughmans lunches.
The staff were lovely and the lunch was great I had a Latte and it came with a large shortbread biscuit which was a lovely touch and delicious- so good I ordered another coffee to get one more. I will be visiting again if we are back in Eastbourne

Wonderful hotel, food amazing value and quality. We had the a la carte and couldn't fault it. Two large parties were in for dinner whilst we were there but the staff were excellent and as we were seated away from the main dining room we were not bothered by the noise. The only downside was parking away from the hotel at the ATC centre. My tip would be don't park under the trees there.

From the moment one enters the hotel you are made to feel welcome, the staff throughout the whole of my stay and in all departments were wonderful, helpful and courteous. Their training is superb.
I stayed in Room 331 and would recommend this room to anyone dtaying, at first glance it appears a long way from the lift but it is so comfortable that I could not wish for better, the view of the sea is magnificent, the bed wide and comfortable, the en-suite facilitities spotless and the shower was large, the toiletries are first rate, Gilchrist & Soames, was there a downside, the only one was the light over the bathroom mirror could have been brighter.
The food is first class and the wine list very reasonably priced. On arrival my wife and I enjoyed a bottle of Chenin Blanc, properly chilled and we chose Cod and Chips, beautifully cooked and served and not dripping in fat. In the evening we had a starter of Terrine and a main of Braised Rump Steak, both excellent and again reasonably priced.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing and pleasurable time and know that you will be served with the utmost courtesy and efficiently.
The hotel has arranged with the TA centre, about 3 minutes walk away, for Car Parking, quite convenient.
I will be going back an d it is not often that I can say that about many hotels.
I enjoyed a first rate experience.

We only stayed for one night. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast. Has the feel of a "coach-party hotel" .......but is non the worse for that. We went in high season which was quite expensive, but I would imagine that it would be more reasonable off-peak.
Having stayed at (and reviewed) many 3 & 4 star hotels over the years If I'm honest I would say that the Langham is more 3-star than 4, but an overall was a good experience. We would be happy to stay here again.

Just a few words on our trip spent in the Langham Hotel. Our room with a seaview was so nice. We appreciate the service and friendly staff even though the restaurant was busy. Food was delicious (sirloin steak were perfect!) and breakfast with such a huge choice of starters and cooked meals is brillant as well.
Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so pleasant.
We will most certainly return.

My wife and I only stayed here for one night in September but we are planning on being back in this area and staying here again. Our room had a view of the ocean and was quite spacious as european hotel rooms go. The room had a small "faux" balcony, but from what I could tell, I am not sure any of the rooms had an actual balcony you could stand on. The room was very comfortable. We slept with the windows wide open, and once the street traffic died down, we could hear the waves breaking on the beach. We never did get in the water, but we did see several "die hards" out distance swimming in the morning. The breakfast and bar area on the first floor is very nice. This hotel appears to get a large number of "tours" so the bar and breakfast area always had people there. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the people that were on the tours...everybody could not have been nicer. One morning we had breakfast on the porch area and it was so nice to have breakfast and look at the ocean. My wife went for a run in the morning to the top of very high hill and just raved about the view, about a 3 mile round trip run from the hotel. The area directly next to the ocean has a very nice walkway/bike path that people use. This is a very old hotel that has been meticulously maintained and has great unique artwork all around.

Our room looked as if it had been newly refurbished and was very clean and comfortable. If I had any critisisms they would be about the bathrrom: The basin was very small with a single tap that got in the way. I would also have preferred a shower with an adjustable head....not everyone likes water pouring hard, directly over their heads!
The food was lovely and the staff all very polite and friendly. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would like to come back in the not too distant future.

I arranged this tour, first week in September, for 25 of our bowlers and we were certainly not disappointed. The rooms are all very good and most had sea views. Our room, 320, albeit with a small shower room, had recently been renovated and was very clean and comfortable. Above all the food and service in the restaurant were excellent and the menu also offered the option to pay a little extra for items from the a la carte menu. Some of our members made use of this option, but really just to spoil themselves, it was certainly not necessary! Throughout the 7 night stay I only received 2 minor grumbles from my entire party which, as any bowls tour organiser will tell you, is a sound recommendation. Some of my group even commented "the best tour yet" All the staff, from the owner to the chambermaids, are extremely pleasant and I would certainly recommend The Langham to any prospective bowls groups. The Hotel, and Claire in particular, are used to receiving bowls groups and will even go a long way in arranging suitable fixtures. Cogenhoe B.C., Northampton, will certainly be returning in the not too distant future.

My wife and I have just departed Langham Hotel following a three night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed in room 120 'The Honeymoon Suite'. It was as luxurious as described and more! Four poster, grand sea views, walk in double shower and so much more. From the moment we arrived until we departed we felt looked after with nothing being to much trouble for the staff who were always courteous and helpful. We had dinner on one evening in the conservatory where we also took breakfast each day. The conservatory is a delightful setting overlooking the sea where a first class evening three course meal was served. The choice was varied and we were delighted with the quality and value of the meal. The Langham's bar has a welcoming feel to it which is greatly enhanced by a fine outside veranda area to sit and sup as you overlook the sea and promenade. This we did!! All in all a grand experience which enhanced our celebrations and made us determined to come again!

Just spent two days staying at the Langham Hotel which which was made more enjoyable by the pleasant efficiency of every member of staff that we met. We ate in the restaurant and the meals were all as tasty as they were presented. The room had just been refitted with a splendid new bathroom suite. We plan to return in the near future.

The hotel is lovely. The room was great apart from a small double bed which we struggled with. The breakfasts - you can have as much as you want it appears, and the quality is fantastic. We had the steak for dinner and it was very good. Do speak up when ordering though, they got our order wrong and gave us a more expensive course than we had ordered and didnt offer to charge us the lower price. However....... don't let them put you in Room 101. It is right at the top of the stairs by reception and so you get all the noise from the desk and the foyer. Also, at 6.30 EVERY DAY, we were awoken by the hoover. On complaining about this at the desk we were told categorically that no one hoovers at that time of day. On checking out the hoover was in fact parked right outside our room. Had they apologised it would have been fine, but to deny it happened, when it happened each day, was disappointing. Would we go back, probably, but we wouldnt accept that room.

After reading the review of a fellow bowler who was unimpressed with his visit to your hotel I feel further comments are needed. All tours have standard rooms, my husband and I were impressed with the size, décor and cleanliness of our room, and the en suite was also a good size with the bonus of having a window. The room was at the back, no sea view but very quiet which we needed for a good night's sleep after bowling and very comfortable beds.
Breakfast was excellent, sandwiches from the bar at lunch time were well presented and the evening meal had choices for every taste. I must admit our last night's main course, was not up to standard which I believe the management accepted. That was the only disappointment.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Well done to all.
A bonus for those who have not got their own transport, the bus stops very close to the hotel.

I booked this hotel for my parents and we joined them for dinner to celebrate their Wedding Anniversary.
From beginning to end the staff were friendly and attentive. They had a sea view room which was roomy and beautifully clean. The food is fantastic and great value for money

Lovely hotel right on the sea font. Stayed in a room for 3 nights, facing the beach on the top floor. Food was excellent all weekend. Staff very friendly and helpful and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was very large and comfortable, bed was just right! Plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom slightly cramped, but had everything we needed. Shower was very powerful.
Room was spotless and well maintained. Would certainly stay again.

On 23rd August the Hotel hosted our Golden Wedding Celebration. We had 42 Guests for this celebration and I cannot speak too highly of the service and attention that was paid to us before and during the event. Neil Kirby, the Proprietor and his wife and Simon Brown the Hotel Manager had all ensured that everything was just as we had wished and all of the Staff were so professional but also friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the Hotel really helped to make our day very special. Thank you everyone at the Langham!

I am always a bit unsure about reading reviews about Hotels (Are the comments genuine) But I can assure everyone my thoughts are for real. This Hotel is the most friendly, Cleanest, Proffesional establishment I have had the joy to stop in. The owners, Mr & Mrs Kirby, Have got all their staff singing from the same 'Hymn Sheet' all really caring & making your stay one to remember and make sure you return again. Food excellent, Rooms always clean and tidy. The Restaurant, Bar & Reception Staff do really care. Only Hotel I can ever say 9 / 10.... Nobody is perfect !
Give them a try, You will be amazed.

We stayed for one night on 28th August as visiting family in the area. Not disappointed.
We had a sea view room that appeared to have been refurbished and no complaints at all as all very comfortable. I enjoyed just sitting in the window bay watching the sea.
We decided to eat in the restaurant and glad we did. Two choices of priced menu. We opted for the cheaper of the two but for a basic of £14.50 it was excellent and very good value for money. As for the mussels.... They obviously have a versatile chef.
All staff very polite, courteous and cannot do enough for you.
We both enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we return to the area.

Came to the Ladies lunch club in July for the secrets of the langham hotel talk by the owner Mr. Neil Kirby. We had an excellent lunch and a very interesting talk by Mr. Kirby with some funny anicdotes about his life previous to starting out on his great adventure of owning and running the Langham Hotel. After the meal Mr. Kirby personally signed his book for me, it is entitled Celebrity Hotel and a very good read. I have been to the Ladies Lunch Club several times before and each time the theme was very interesting and an excellent meal was served. The staff have always been very courtous and helpful.

Me and my Husband came down to Eastbourne for a relaxing break, had a lovely room and the staff were very helpful. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the first night and the food was outstanding we were offered two menus and we felt spoilt for choice, ended up eating in the restaurant the other two evenings.
I will defiantly be returning to the hotel and I will recommend this place to my family and friends.

We spent a week there 9th to the 16th august. Lovely location. Very disappointed with the room. At back of hotel with no view. Room was small and only small shower and toilet area. Breakfast was very good. Evening meals were very poor. Most of the meat meals were tough. When we asked to see the chef he was always to busy. On the last night the beef was so tough lots of people just left their meat. Still the chef was to busy. I must say that the waiting staff were great sometimes under difficult circumstances because of the chef's refusal to see us. Would I go there again absolutely not

So, this hotel is right on the seacoast so there is a lovely view with the waves crashing in. The hoitel is clean in general, so that is nice. In general this is a hotel for the elderly though.
It is a bit away from the city centre.

Pros
No loud neighbours, dont know if it was because its soundproof, or if they were asleep or simply a vacant room.
Nice big room
Cool bedside lamps
Decent bathroom
Nicely assorted bathproducts
Seasideview!
Firm bed
Free wifi, good connection

Cons
The shower was not more than a weak pressured tap
Furniture is adjusted for the elderly, tall hard chairs
TV small and on the opposit side of a big room
No aircon, was very warm and opening the window ment bugs inside
The woman at the frontdesk wasnt very experienced so checking in got a bit awkard.
Breakfast was table service, though the food didnt havet a "personal touch" kind of feel or taste even though the servingstaff was nice and competent!
Bedding was the old blanket on a sheet-type, no duvet!

Hope youll have a nice stay but were probably will try a new hotel if we come to Eastbourne again.

Visited with my daughter for 3 nights. This hotel does need updating in some public rooms, the bar seemed dark and dingy when we arrived at night and the reception and lifts have the same feel but it's clear updating is in progress. Our room was also a little old fashioned but it was large and comfortable and had a new, modern and fabulous bathroom with walk in shower so even though the room wasn't exactly as described on the web site (it didn't have a bath) we were happy. The room became very hot but we were supplied a fan on request. It was at the front of the hotel and we had amazing sea views.
The customer service was very good with every effort made to please. We had some problems and niggles during our stay but we were compensated and left satisfied, Only one member of staff had a slight 'attitude' everyone else we encountered was welcoming and friendly.
We found the breakfast, which isn't a buffet, to have very small portions (one veggie sausage, half a tomato and tiny triangle of fried bread for example with the vegetarian breakfast) but it could be the case that a larger portion is provided on request. It would have also been nice to have the option of fresh fruit salad. However no complaints whatsoever concerning the cream tea which was fantastic and also the dinner which was very, very nice indeed. We only managed to eat dinner once in the hotel but would definitely recommend it and eating in the conservatory looking out to sea was lovely.
There is entertainment at night which everyone seemed to enjoy. Car parking is charged extra and in some secured army barracks about five minutes walk away. Overall a nice break and a good hotel.

We stopped in room 242 from 14th August - 17th August for the airshow, we had a side room with one window facing the sea and the other the road, so partial sea view. The room was fine with everything you needed. They have a nice little bar and weather permitting a lovely outside area to eat/drink and watch the world go by.The breakfast, which was included in the price was very nice, you choose from a menu and then it is brought to your table. My husband opted for the fish one morning which he thoroughly enjoyed, I had full English as well as the continental for a change. Most of the staff were very friendly at breakfast time but there were a few that really didn't want to be there!! This is the second time we have stopped in this hotel and cant fault it.
One recommendation for the hotel manager - Please can you get a shaving mirror to put on the windowsill in room 242 as the mirror is right in the corner of the bathroom besides the sink and impossible to shave properly. Only a slight niggle, other than that a lovely stay. We hope to return for the airshow next year.
