I booked a sea view room at the hotel through Booking.com several weeks before the actual stay. When my husband and I arrived at the hotel, we were informed that they had not received any notification from Booking.com of our reservation. They were extremely busy as it was the lead up to the bank holiday weekend but to our surprise they arranged for us to stay for 2 nights in a sea view room and then the remaining 2 nights in a non sea view. They were most apologetic which was unnecessary as the fault lay completely with Booking.com.

Now on to our stay. From the minute we walked into the hotel we felt the atmosphere to be very relaxed. The staff were amazing. We were offered assistance to take our bags to our room and nothing was too much trouble.

Our first two nights were spent in a family room which while spotless with wonderful views did have rather dated furniture and fittings. Please don't think this is reflective of the hotel. When we moved into the other room for the last 2 days it was the epitome of chic. The decoration in the hotel overall is one of understated elegance whilst at the same time being comfortable and relaxing.

Meals could be taken in the dining room or the conservatory and in both the service was nothing short of outstanding. We also had some very delicious bar meals in the bar area and outside on the terrace. My personal favourites were the club sandwich (the best anywhere) and the cream tea.

The owner obviously has a very well managed hotel. The staff are the jewels in his crown and he is to be commended on them. On speaking to one of the lovely girls that served us we were told that she had been at the hotel 9 years. This to me sums it up.

We have already booked to return in October.

Large luxurious and very comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated. Top class meals and top class evening entertainment. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable personnel. Great location and reminiscent of days spent at the seaside in times gone by. Would I go there again ? Definitely !

Stayed 2 nights at The Langham over August Bank Holiday weekend with my Mum to celebrate her 77th birthday.
Nothing is too much trouble for everyone at The Langham and you are made to feel very welcome by each and every member of staff.
The food was unbelievable - couldn't fault breakfast, lunch or dinner!!!
Mum's lunch on the day of her birthday was made even more special by receiving a birthday cake and glass of wine with compliments from the Hotel and the jazz band played happy birthday to Mum and another lady who was celebrating - fantastic - made Mum feel very special indeed!
My Sister had arranged for balloons, champagne, flowers and chocolates to be delivered to the hotel (she lives in Venezuela) and these were all placed on a side table next to our table at the jazz lunch on the Sunday.
All in all excellent - couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend the hotel not only for its rooms but also for the amazingly great food and extra special staff - thank you to all at The Langham you made our weekend into a wonderful weekend!!!

Staying in eastbourne and looking for somewhere to eat and noticed the 2/3 course set menu at Langhams, what a good choice. We sat with a sea view, looked after by excellent staff and enjoyed a very good meal with coffee at a very reasonable price. It made our evening, many thanks.

This was our first ever visit to Eastbourne so were a bit reserved. Arrived friday lunchtime to nice friendly and efficient staff who made checkin a doddle. We picked the weekend of the Eastbourne Airshow, no sea view rooms avaliable (although we booked 3 mths in advance) however the room we had was excellent, clean and very comfortable with a nice bathroom. The bar and restaurant staff were all very helpfull and friendly even though they were obviously extremely busy because of the airshow. The breakfast and evening meals were very good and the conservatory provides lovely views whilst having dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were, coupled with a relaxed atmosphere we were quite happy to stay and relax in the bar. As it was airshow weekend, we took the opportunity to book one of the hotels private garages at the rear for £10 per day. This certainly paid off in our case, however on a normal weekend parking would probably pose no problems. Very pleasant hotel worthy of its 3 stars.

This was our first stay here and we had a very enjoyable and comfortable time. We had a deluxe roo with a sea view which was well-equipped and very comfortable beds. Our 2 sons had a standard twin room and the difference was obvious from better quality tolietries, a better shower and lots of extras. Breakfast was very nice although we didn't realise the first time we had it that there is no buffet, as in most hotels, and you actually have to specify what you want or you end up with a general plate of food. We learned from copying from guests on other tables and got what we wanted the next time! The service was fast. There was live entertainent in the bar on one evening but it was very low-key for which we were relieved but may be a disappointment if you want a disco. The hotel has a nice atomosphere and I can certainly imagine Hercule Poirot staying there while he was investigating a murder case! Our room had an excellent view and the hotel is excellently located for a walk along the sea-front which is lovely.

The Langham Hotel in Eastbourne is on the sea front along with a full string of other hotels. The building is a grand Victorian building with wonderful views out to sea and along the promenade passed the pier.
The public rooms were clean and very well presented, nice comfy arm chairs to relax in, news papers and various board games. The bar was well stocked and had outside tables and chairs over looking the sea. There was entertainment each night, which was aimed mainly at the above 60 age group.
The bed room was a sea view single. Well decorated clean, fresh towels daily, TV hair drier, bathrobe, tea/coffee etc.
The staff were excellent. Well presented in uniform, efficient, polite, cheerful and very helpful
Eastbourne has plenty to offer, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

It is just by the seaside so quite convenient if you want to take a walk along the beach. Reception staff is friendly and helpful, room is not too big but clean and comfy. There is a lift but somehow a lot of the rooms are on a 'half-story' place so you might still need to carry your luggage a few steps down from the floor to be in your room.

Breakfast was not bad, and they prepared a group table for us which is quite sweet. The waitress can be faster when serving though, as we were in a hurry but she seems to be not able to keep up our pace.

Paid another visit to the Langham Eastbourne, using our gift voucher won at our Masonic Ladies Festival Weekend, it really is a gem of a hotel on the seafront. Owners Neil & Wendy Kirby's high standards and attention to detail rub off on all the staff, who give you a warm welcome from the moment you arrive, with excellent food, and first class rooms, the friendly and happy staff make your stay a very special occasion. We are both looking forward to a return visit in the Autumn

My husband and I had our wedding reception here last year and came back to celebrate our first year anniversary courtesy of mr and mrs Kirkby. We stayed it room 120 and it was gorgeous. We were also treated to a fantastic meal in the hotels restaurant where nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We were greeted back as if old friends and everyone was happy to do anything that made our stay more enjoyable. If you fancy a personal hotel experience with a high end feel that the langham is the place for you.

We found this hotel excellent value, our room was comfortable, the bathroom looked as though it had very recently been completly modernised , with a good shower and full size bath, lots of lovely clean towels which were all changed each morning. The food was first class, we stayed for dinner bed and breakfast, the choice for these was good and the food well cooked, with great service by friendly helpful staff . Entertainment is available each evening. As the hotel is on the front at Eastbourne nicely situated for a walk along to the pier.

We first met the owners of this Hotel Neil and Wendy Kirby nearly a year ago when we were looking for a new venue for our Ladies Weekends. It became apparent very early on that they knew exactly what they were doing and what we wanted from the weekend. We have been involved with orgainising these events for over 15 years and could not have been happier with the service and attention to detail that we were given from the start to the finish. We wanted a themed 1940's style party atmosphere on the Friday evening and both Neil and Wendy along with their staff decorated the room with bunting and flags to enhance the atmosphere. We could write so much more about their kindness and professional attitude, however, in short - all the staff are exceptionally professional and friendly and will all go the extra mile to help you. The food is superb, Although some rooms are still awaiting refurbishment, those that have been upgraded are top notch. All this at reasonable prices on a seafront location. There were 116 guests in our party, all of whom enjoyed it so much that we have already booked the Hotel again for next year.

I can not fault the Langham Hotel at all. The staff were professional and patient and helpful. The whole hotel was clean and comfortable. The food was very good and plentiful and considering how many they had to cater for, it was planned very well without a hitch. The hotel had a wonderful character about it and everyone there was chatty and happy. Thankyou for a great stay.
Value for money was very very good.
Hope to return next year. I was in a group tour. Caught the bus to bottom of beach head on open top bus(free if have bus pass) or you can go to top of beachy head. You can get on and off where you like. Continual recording telling you the history of everywhere. Very worthwile trip to go on. Bands at the bandstand were very good and fireworks. So lovely to be able to walk straight out of hotel onto prom.

I stayed here on a group tour and the hotel is truly hard to fault. Staff are unfailingly courteous and professional , the place is spotless and the meals beautifully presented and delicious - no pre- catered food here ! It all appears to be really well-run throughout and I would unhesitatingly recommend it - if even just to visit the restaurant alone

I am sure that a lot of the rooms in this hotel are better than the one we had. However, we got a late room price and I am sure that the room we had was one of the last on offer. Third floor, back street view and old bathroom.
However, all clean, beds ok, furniture new. Blanket instead of duvet. Odd!
Breakfast VG served in conservatory with great seaview on a brilliant sunny day. Staff excellent.
Obviously a coach party hotel but hey....what the heck!

This Hotel is wonderful with the best breakfasts in England!! First morning we had smoked salmon and scrambled egg in piping hot plates, served by lovely waiting staff. Second day was delicious kippers - beautifully cooked. We sat in the covered sunroom overlooking the Front and watched the world go by. The Hotel has made a theme, in their crockery of the red and yellow changing sheds the Victorians used, and there is one parked outside. Wonderful prints all through the Hotel. Our room was tiny - only downside of a wonderful stay.

Stayed one night in early June 2013. The hotel is located on the waterfront and the Eastbourne Pier and town centre are within easy walking distance.

Our room appeared to have been recently renovated including a very modern and spacious bathroom. The room itself was quite large and immaculately clean. The free WiFi was excellent.

Parking is an issue as the hotel has only a handful of spaces available that can be reserved on a first come first served basis for a nominal fee. We were able to reserve a space and it is well worth the extra cost.

The night we were here there were also a number of large bus tours staying at the hotel. We were a bit concerned that the restaurant might not be able to cope with these tours all arriving at the same time. For non-tour guests, the restaurant has a separate glassed in area directly facing the waterfront and dedicated staff serving this area. The restaurant offered both a fixed price and a la carte menu. Despite the tours dining at the same time, our meals arrived well within normal waiting times and were excellent. Similarly breakfast was served in this area and the full English breakfast did not disappoint.

There is also a comfortable bar with seating inside as well as outside facing the water.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at one of Langham's master bedrooms for our wedding anniversary. We were amazed by the views and size of the room, everything was nice a clean and the bathroom was spotless. The overall experience at the hotel was fantastic the food was great, the staff were friendly. We would like to say a special thanks to the owners of the hotel Mrs and Mrs Kirby who made this experience and fantastic one. The best part of our stay was the afternoon tea, the flack jacks were to die for! great place!

My wife and i arrived for the weekend on Friday 28th to a genuine welcome by the reception staff the hotel looked clean and all seemed well. We were given the keys to our room (a twin,) early, the receptionist explained the room was ready and all went well. As we entered the room, i immediately noticed that the beds looked like children's beds they seemed small and although the pillows had some stuffing in them, it wasn't much, i would have needed four of them to make one normal pillow. The beds were very hard and i was glad we were only there for two days as i found it hard to sleep. Also although we had been told the room was ready, it wasn't, and the cleaner came back to hoover the floor, which she did willingly. I understand that the upkeep of these old buildings must be very difficult and expensive, hence our bedroom looking a bit tired. The rest of the weekend was excellent, and all the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us, They were very friendly and helpful at all times, and i don't believe you can improve on the venue apart from the sleeping arrangements.

I almost feel a little guilty about writing this review as the hotel has been given glowing reviews previously & ranked no.4.
This was an overnight business trip stay so we are not the norm of guests who come to stay in Eastbourne.
I did make my niggles known to reception on check out it was received graciously & noted.
I'll mention the negatives first, our room was on the 3rd floor with side sea views. Quite spacious & light. The bathroom was a but tired looking. The mattress on the bed was very hard & the springs on my side protruded up so a very uncomfortable nights sleep. The walls appear to be very thin surprisingly so for an old building so we could hear our neighbour coughing all night & then talking early morning( I know the hotel can't help this, but maybe not put light sleepers in this room) There was also some kind of water tank gurgling away all night! My only other gripe is that the warren of corridors were rather smelly stale food etc. Maybe some air fresheners.
Onto the positives my husband enjoyed the delicious full English breakfast whilst I chose a lighter option. We sat in the very nice conservatory with wonderful views out to sea. Breakfast staff were very efficient & courteous. I like to have a morning run & was offered some distance/route advice from someone who may have been the owner/manager. All staff were very efficient & pleasant. On check out I was helped to my car with our luggage by a very nice girl on reception, really sorry can't remember name, but thank you.
This hotel is obviously doing something right as it has glowing reviews,my niggles are small. I have even read a previous review about the hotel providing & buying a special mattress for a guest who had forgotten his, that goes beyond the call of duty.
My husband visits Eastbourne maybe 3-4 times a year on business & I sometimes go with him. We might try The Langham again, give it the benefit of doubt.

An amazing weekend was spent at the Langham Hotel along with approx 115 other people as part of an organised weekend. From the moment we booked in on Friday afternoon to check out Sunday morning the service was first class. Our room was small but clean with a lovely new bathroom. The food on offer from the bar snacks through to the 5 course meal on Saturday were superb. The young people waiting on the tables should be highly commended for their hard work and the wonderful service delivered.
I am really looking forward to going back next year, however I don't think I can wait that long and may have to book a weekend for just the hubby and I.

The Proprietors & Staff make this a wonderful stay for anybody. The Hotel is a little dated (but is being updated all the time) but is exceptionally clean. The service everywhere, rooms, reception, bar etc, is superb.
We were well looked after and the bar etc prices are very competitive. All the staff appear to have smiles on their faces and the Proprietor certainly knows his business.
We hope to go back to Eastbourne next year and will certainly book The Langham.
