Friends highly recommended Meze and i am so glad they did
A lovely little place, with a real feel of being in Turkey itself. The food is fresh and freshly cooked in full view, on charcoal or in a clay oven and is beautifully served and superb. The meat tender and tasty.
We were served by the owner, who is so friendly and very attentative, lovely man.And to top it off, great value too.
We shall definitley become regulars

Go! And watch the food you have ordered being prepared at the end of the room. Tasty meat and grills barbecued in full view of the restaurant whilst freshly made flatbreads are made and cooked for all to see. We chose the meze special which was enough for two people. The food was delicious, the staff very welcoming and the ambience of the room was relaxing and comfortable.
Go! We did and were weren't disappointed!!!

A superb restaurant. Very friendly polite staff. Being able to sit down and watch your food being prepared is just so good. While waiting for our starters we were given little tasters (brilliant idea). The starter was so good. We had the shrimps (hot) and the aubergine (cold) they were both amazing. The mains were equally as good the lamb shank was out of this world. My wife had the stew which I have to say was equally as good. This really is a gem of a restaurant, highly recommended

Its not in a great part of town but behind the façade is a warm, friendly, charming restaurant with a lovely ambience. The staff were attentive, food was swift and delicious and we all thoroughly pleased at having tried the little gem of a place. Definitely coming back. The Adana kebab is to die for...so much flavour and so tender.

First time visiting this restaurant last night. I have always just passed it by as it doesn't really look that appealing from the front.
How I wish I had tried it before! It is a traditional family run restaurant that in my experience was exceptionally friendly and helpful regarding menu explanations and choices.
The meal was excellent in terms of flavour using fresh ingredients and all freshly prepared Infront of us at the cooking area. Not a cheap meal out but not overpriced for a freshly prepared lovely meal with really friendly staff, good service and clean surroundings

We attended as a reserved party of 11. The service was great. The atmosphere was authentic yet modern. The experience was delightful, especially watching the chiefs prepare each dish.

The food was great, well seasoned and flavorful. It seemed from the menu that each dish was almost the same and when they came out they seemed to very much be alike.

I would definitely recommend this place for family gatherings and big parties; its like entertaining at home but with great food and you don't have to do the dishes.

If you are by yourself or small group, still pop in. Its really quit good.

Booked during day for New Years Eve following a recommendation. Lucky to get a table. Staff were helpful and attentive and we were fortunate to sit close to where the food was cooked. Everything we chose was tasty and when presented looked 'the business'. Would go again.

One of the best Restautrants in Eastbourne for freshly cooked kebabs, and really good starters, main courses and fabulous "freshly made on the premises" Baklava!!!
Fatima, our waitress was absolutely charming as was the patron. The house red wine is very good indeed!
The chef sits on a moveable chair to prepare the food, as he has to duck under the copper roof to turn the kebabs which are cooking on the charcoal !!A really good atmosphere and highly recommended.

Lovely appetisers. We shared a starter because we know a full one each is too much especially if we have desert too - generous portions throughout. Will return.

Plenty to choose from on the menu and a nice change from the usual Chinese and Indian type restaurants we tend to visit. We didn't want pub food, English food, or Oriental food and had done Italian recently so wanted a change. Thought we would give Meze a go and weren't disappointed. Genuinely free tasters to start got the meal going quickly so we could taste something whilst we were waiting for our food to be cooked. We went for the mixed meze to share for starters and it was just right for quantity and variation to give a taste of different flavours and textures. My wife doesn't like spicy food but found her Kremith Kofte main just past her range. She really has a very sensitive palate so this shouldn't be taken that this dish is too spicy. I went for Et Sote and was enjoying it but we quickly swapped as she was struggling with her meal. We found this was a perfect arrangement and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The only small downside to the evening was the trainee waitress who tried to serve us but needed an interpretor to help her. I'm sure she will pick it up quickly and offer the same good service the other waitress gave us. All in all a good evening with good atmosphere. Would go back if we were in the area again.

Food cooked in the restaurant,in view of all patrons.Portions,a bit small for the cost.Bottled Beer seemed flat and not too chilled,as was my partners wine.
Had a starter and a main.when finished, waited 20 minutes, for the plates to be taken away, and maybe have a pudding menu to look at.But nothing happened until,we stood up to pay.It wasnt to busy,to come and see how we were doing.I didnt hear of any complaints about the food, which is good to see.
Just needs some better customer service. We wanted to stay longer, but the staff were not,in any inclined,up for getting more money for there restaurant.Plus,a positive for us,was the fact they didnt charge for one of our starters,Happy Days.
Probably wont go back, unless portions or recommendations are made to try a certain dish.

Turkish Cuisine is always a pleasant taste for me and my clients. In addition to being the refined product of centuries of experience, Turkish Cuisine has a very pure quality. The variety and simplicity of the recipes and the quality of the ingredients are guarantees of delicious meals. Almost every district of Anatolia has its own kebap speciality. Meze's chef is fully expert at all these kebap varieties. All you need to taste all of them in different times.
If you book afternoon time, it will be very special service, less customers more quality and more friendly service. Whenever I visit Eastbourne, Its my first place to visit, we don't have a same kind of kebap quality in London

It was my Sisters Birthday and we decided to visit the MEZE restaurant in Eastbourne for the 1st Time. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we entered the premises and this continued all evening, nothing was too much trouble, the food was of excellent quality and there was plenty of it. The restaurant was clean and tidy and had a local environmental health standard of 5 (the highest grade I am given to understand).
The only minor concern was that the Gents toilet was downstairs and there was no handrail and being an OAP this was a bit of a problem but not enough to stop me visiting again.

We regularly go to Meze, often after a visit to our local cinema. Once again the food was delicious, the service excellent, all enjoyed in a very friendly family run restaurant. So if you like Turkish food, I would highly recommend.

A lovely place for a pleasant evening where you can even discover Turkish wine. Your evening starts with a different bread brought to your table with nibbles, free of charge. Thoroughly enjoyed 2 of the starters or mezzes, the prawns and aubergines were to die for however I would give the filo pasty a miss. The main was nothing more than a glorified kebab at £12.50. The atmosphere is relaxed but I query the need for the waitress to come to our table twice to check if the bottle of wine was empty so she could take it away...was it a ploy for us to order more, not sure but it spoiled it a bit. The puddings are traditional and again give you the impression you are somewhere different. overall a good evening but chose carefully and do ask for the Turkish apple tea :-) !

As the title of this review states, tonight’s dinner was to be a learning experience. Our first lesson was that Meze is pronounced MAY ZAY.
We do wish Meze had a website, as any reader would be fascinated, and the menu would be intriguing, although not very familiar to a new diner. Our server, a cheerful lady with classic Mediterranean comeliness, guided us through the menu with patience, Mrs Too and I atypically ordered the same main, Kuzu Sis. Kuzu is spoken as one would expect, but sis sounds “sheesh”. Under a huge copper hood, a real charcoal fire glows as the chef cubes and skewers the meats which form the base of most of the entrees, then grills them before your eyes. We must say we found our meal very, very good. Our lamb was very subtly seasoned, deriving most of its character from the various condiments and accompaniments.
It is not probable that we would be back to Eastbourne, but the next time we run across a restaurant featuring Turkish cuisine, we will surely have a dinner there.

We followed the good reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. Very good service, nice Turkish atmosphere and tasty food. We notably tried various mezzes: 3 per person is enough for a meal. They also have Turkish drinks : yogurt, Turkish tea... Very friendly to children. Reasonably priced.
