I live 7 minutes walk from Meze but had never been as I usually go for Italian. The atmosphere was wonderful, we sat on the authentic Turkish table. It was a Tuesday and I thought it wouldn't be busy but all the tables were taken. I found the food absolutely delicious and will be returning soon!

The decor is clean and slightly boho so don't expect fine dining! No table cloths but clean tables and paper napkins. Went early and it filled up quite a bit during our meal.
Yoghurt does feature heavily on most dishes and if you don't eat meat you have a choice of two main courses but every single cold starter is veggie friendly. Heaven for me as I had no main course and six starters to share with everyone else.
We had our drinks order taken promptly and complimentary hot bread brought to our table and then complimentary little meat pizza nibbles and a dish of olives which was nice.
Portions were a good size and cooking was done in the restaurant on the charcoal grill so you can watch your dinner's progress if you wish.
One of the kebabs was slightly too dry by everyone was happy with their choices and we could not finish everything. Nothing ground breaking on the menu just a wide selection of good grilled meat and variations on that theme.
We had one desert, figs walnuts and cream which was, as expected, terribly sweet but good. We had one tea and seven bottles of Efes larger and one tonic water.
Bill came to £105 for four but we did have a lot of food.
It was good, not great but good. Might go back but there are other restaurants in the town that are better although this is still up near the top.

They cook the food on the barbeque right in the restaurant!
The owner is friendly and helpful.
Great atmosphere and the food is excellent!
If you've not yet had the Meze experience - try it - you'll be back again and again!

Have eaten here twice in quick succession, basically because we enjoyed the first visit so much.
The food is freshly cooked in full view of the diners on a large grill and it tastes great.
We will be back.

Excellent food, wonderful service. We were recommend by our Guesthouse owner Karen to try and get a table at Meze. We managed to get a table for 21.30pm on New Years Eve which we were delighted. We arrived a little early and the place was buzzing and the owner was lovely and allowed us to stand at the bar and have a drink which was on the house. We got seated and was looked after by the Owners lovely Daughter, our food was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. I have the lamb shank and it was cooked beautiful very tender and the meat fell off the bone. My Husband had a chicken dish and again his was tender and cooked beatiful. Thank you very much for a very memorable evening. We will visit again next time we are in Eastbourne.

We love Meze. The staff are friendly, the food is wonderful and inexpensive. When friends ask me for restaurant recommendations in Eastbourne this is always my top choice. Like a previous poster - I wish I could eat there every day !
Tip - make sure you are REALLY hungry before attempting the Meze special - they are very generous with their portions.

Good food, good atmosphere, excellent restaurant. We went with two vegetarians who thought the vegetarian options on the menu very limited but still enjoyed the night. The owner made up a selection of vegetarian starters as a main meal which helped. The wine list had no Chardonnay but the Pinot Grigio was fine. We had starters, main courses, bottle of wine, we also had a Tia Maria, Baileys and a Turkish spirit to finish with plus two apple teas and the bill excluding service was GBP108 for the four of us. which included the GBP19.50 special that I had.

I have been going to Meze religiously since it opened and I have NEVER been able to fault it in anyway. The owner always greets us with a smile (and sometimes a hug) and can always accommodate whatever our needs. The food is always amazing, from the puffed up bread, cheese, olives and delicious dill butter entrees to the heavenly turkish pastries, it;s ALL good! My favourite starter is the Karides Tave (Shrimps sauteed in butter and chillies), for main course it has to be the Pirzola (delicious lamb cutlets served with chargrilled peppers, sour cream, bulgar wheat, pitta bread and a wonderful onion and sumach salad). The house wine is a wine I've drank in Turkey before, Yakut and is the perfect accompainment to the Turkish food. The atmosphere is always wonderful, the food and drink always perfect and the service, exceptional. If I won the lottery I would spend every night dining at Meze (not that it is expensive, far from it)...A wonderful restaurant, you;d be mad not to go!

I have visited Turkey on a number of occasions and can honestly say that this was one of the best turkish meals I have had. The food was cooked to perfection. I had mixed mezes to start which was fanastic, my husband and son both had borek they said that it was the best they had ever had, which is praise as this is their favourate meze. Wonderful bread and great kebabs cooked on authentic charcoal barbeque. We will definately go again the next time we visit Eastbourne

My family took me to Meze, to celebrate my birthday this year. I am a fan of Turkish food, as my Aunt cooks some great dishes.
The staff made us all feel very welcome on arrival. The dishes are reasonably priced and so are the drinks. I love the fact that it isn't a large restaurant; it is very intimate. The toilets are well maintained too!
The main aspect I picked up on, was the great atmosphere. There was a real warmth and friendliness. Great for a couply night or with friends!

Found this small restaurant on Trip Advisor and was lucky to get a table. Food was fantastic and was very genuine Turkish, even sell Efes beer felt like we sitting in a restaurant in Kalkan. Service excellant and it was interesting to watch your food being prepared right in front of you on the BBQ grill. Highly recommended and will visit again when in the area.

We visited Meze off the back of the reviews on Trip Adviosr and weren't disappointed. We booked in the same day and could only get a table at 9:30pm so it's obviously popular. The place isn't huge but feels cosy with nice lighting as opposed to the stark lighting you get in the chain restaurants.
We were offered complimentary bread and a few olives to nibble on whilst we chose our food and were served our drinks quickly. It took a while longer for the waitress to take our food order which is a shame because that was the only negative I took from the evening. We were sat next to the open coals cooking our food and the smells were lovely. All four of us had the mixed meze starter which was a bit of everything off the menu and was a bargain at £4 per person. I had the mixed grill kebab for mains and at £13, you get plenty of food and the meat was really lovely. Meal for 4 - starters, mains and 2 bottles of wine came to £97.
Great little place and a nice change to the usual high street restuarants.

I went to this restaurant after a couple of members of my family had sung its praises. The bread that they bring out is quite nice. One end of the restaurant, with the cushions etc. looks quite authentic, however the remainder isn't decorated to an overly high standard. I'm quite a lover of the charcoal grill and the flavour that produces, but I wasn't blown away by the food and it can be very samey. It's not a bad restuarant, even so from my experience I cannot concur with many of the excellent reviews.

Not the best area in town however food is great and freshly cooked in front of you. Great Turkish food and large portions . If you can try and get tables in the window which are good for groups as circular and has cushions - very authentic

We have eaten meze many times in Greece and Turkey, but I can honestly say that I have never had meze as good as this. The selection is incredible, and you can watch the chef preparing everything from fresh ingredients from behind the grill. I believe this is a family-run concern, and the staff obviously take a great pride in what they produce. It gets busy, so book. Excellent.

Meze Restaurant in Eastbourne deserves 5 stars, as we received a warm welcome by the friendly staff and management to this very authentic Turkish Restaurant. On a recent business trip to Eastbourne we were very pleased to find the Meze.
With a range of mouth watering starters with all the popular Dolma or stuffed vine leaves, Sigara Boregi or filo pastry parcels stuffed with feta cheese and parsley and mezes, this is a real introduction to quality Turkish food.
There was a good array of main course dishes that are cooked in traditional style on the open charcoal kitchen or in clay pots and copper vessels. You can see the chef using all fresh produce and herbs and the aroma's of the warm Turkish village bread from clay oven, is a real treat.
As a property agent specialising in Turkish holiday homes for sale and rent we are lucky enough to visit the country for many months of the year and visit quite a number of Turkish restaurants with clients, property developers and for pleasure and I have to say that Meze Restaurant in Eastbourne is a very good Turkish Restaurant that deserves your custom and will certainly have ours when returning to this lovely part of the UK.
All the best to Meze in Eastbourne and thank you for a lovely evening from all at www.artemisia-property.co.uk

I visited Meze for my birthday this year. I was surprised when I got inside and discovered that the surrounding were authentic and beautiful, while the chairs can be itchy from the fabric I still enjoyed the ambience very much. The service was excellent, we were constantly being brought free samples to try and everything was delivered to our table promptly. The wine wasn't the best to be honest, even the classic wines on the menu were poor quality. The food was fabulous, especially the cheese straws on the starters and the meat dishes were scrumptious too, the portion sizes were a little on the large size and the problem with so many items on the meny is that a lot of the food begins to look the same, especially when the same garnishes are used; I think every plate had tomato and yoghurt on it. However, I was very impressed with this restaurant and I absolutely would visit again. Highly recommended.

We went to meze on the recommendations on trip advisor and were glad we did. Lovely Turkish food cooked over charcoals and good wine. There were some great touches like complimentary hot bread and dips and the food was plentiful and well priced.

It's always a pleasure to eat at Meze's. The food is cooked on the charcol coals which is in the dining area and you can see your food being cooked. The lamb is divine, perfectly tender and tastes fab. Good value, great tasting house wine. We had two mains and a bottle of house red for £33. Book in advance for Friday and Saturday nights.
