Awesome and atmospheric place, with ruins from Roman and Norman times, and two ancient churches either side of the castle. Great views over surrounding countryside and the English Channel. So much heritage in one place!

Pevensey Castle in where William Duke of Normandy landed in1066.

He built his Castle inside the Roman fort called Anderitum built between AD 280 and AD 300.

It is the start of the 1066 Country Walk which ends in Rye and is 31 miles long, visiting the site of the Battle at Battle Abbey.

History and beauty - Castle well worth visiting and a pub and 2 tearooms on East Side. Outer part of castle is free to visit While inner part is English Heritage. You can walk up to the entrance and see inside from their without paying if you want to check out before deciding if you will pay to enter.

There is a car park facing the entrance which allows motor homes. £3.00 all day.
The castle is mostly just ruins. With some good views from the turrets, and a few interesting local history displays in what rooms remain. Number 5 bus stop outside which goes to Eastbourne.

Interesting displays, although aimed at young children, beautiful views from the high platform, lots of winding stairs to vantage point.

Currently covered in scaffolding in some areas, but the exhibits are well designed and interesting. The towers are particularly well preserved.
