Outside better than the inside. Not much to see when you get in. Was OK but wasn't worth the money for the parking and entry fee

Lovely place, it's small and current renovations limit access a little. Not much to see but it is a work in progress that is worth supporting.

Time hasn't been kind to Pevensey Castle but it is, after all, one of the oldest fortresses in England. To fully appreciate it I found it helpful to know something of its history and this really facilitated by the exhibits and information boards to be found within the castle. For Henry V, Pevensey was the preferred place of incarceration for high value prisoners (like James I of Scotland) as there had been too many escapes from the Tower of London - it was as difficult to get out of this place as it was too get in! There are toilet facilities in the adjacent car park and there are plenty of nearby pubs and cafes. Check the web site for opening times as these vary through the year (in winter, the castle is open only at the weekend); it is, however, possible to see much of it from the outside as a public right of way cuts through the ground between the outer and inner walls.

Refreshing visit to this beautiful place after being long time at home because of the lock down. Learning a bit more about the English history and enjoying the nice weather.
