Beautiful castle ruins and grounds which are free to walk around, though you do have to pay to go in the keep I believe. There are several nice walks too in the surrounding countryside.

Like the audio tour option. Not a great deal there but it's very old so what do you expect?

Shame the Castle was closed, but not much they could do about it with the current state of the world. Hopefully we'll be back once this pandemic is over :)

Although undergoing considerable restoration, the castle and exhibitions are open and certainly worth a pre booked (only way to gain entrance) visit. Once the pestilence has passed, visitors should be able to explore much more of this magnificent structure, which has stood here since the Romans built their Fort in the 4th century A.D.

I have visited this, my favourite castle ruin many times. Very interesting considering it was originally roman. You can see the different building methods everywhere and has fantastic wall walkways. Very much recommended

Nice & interesting for the unusual for the red-brick lines which run around the peripheral walls as a dedorative feature.

Walking through the grounds of the castle in the sunshine is always a pleasure. You can sit and imagine the castle as it would have been in Roman and Norman times.

Sadly Covid closed the Castle. But it’s an area with amazing history. The locals are extraordinarily friendly. Nearby villages are pretty and attractive. Westham is especially beautiful

A special place steeped in history. Walking through the ancient castle grounds gives a feel of how life was 100's of years ago. Good facilities nearby and ample parking and easy wheelchair access.

I love this place. Its quite easy to get to, parking close by and the walk around the grounds is lovely, free to walk around grounds, pay to enter castle, how it should be. A perfect place whether you're on you're own, with friends and family or a quiet walk with the dog
