Fine castle that's sadly no longer defending a harbour. Many centuries of history.

Great castle with lot's of history to learn. From it's beginning's as a Roman stronghold to it's last use in the second world war and all it's history in the middle. A fantastic day out. Had a picnic and great place for photos. Staff friendly and helpfully. A must place to visit

We went on a group walk meet up with a friend called The Bald Explorer and we had a great time.
There are some lovely old building in Pevensey and two churches close by.
The parking is only £2 all which is great.

It's a gentle place, with a long history back to Roman times.

Spent an enjoyable hour spent walking through the remains of this medieval castle. Make sure you take advantage of the audio gadget as there is very little in the way of an exhibition, bar a couple of small rooms and a few plaques dotted around.
The grounds are very grassy with lots of secluded spots, perfect for a picnic or relaxing in the peace and quiet of this historic site.
Please don't come expecting cafes, play areas etc that you normally see in the larger English Heritage sites though theres plenty of places to eat around the castle.
Car park is privately run with plenty if spaces if your vehicle is under a certain height, we had a SUV with a roof box so unfortunately couldnt fit.

Excellent grassy area to walk with a dog or without. Beautiful castle walls, majestic in their thickness and height. One can imagine how safe the people would have felt within the walls.

From Romans to modern history. A great example of British heritage. It worth to hire an audio guide.
