Famous castle on the south coast dating from Roman times. A ruin now, but interesting none the less. Recommend getting the audio tour which really brings the place to life. Visited here with two children and it took up a couple of hours.

Lovely castle with so much history going back to the Norman invasions. It’s set really nice grounds in a lovely old English village with local pubs. Also adjacent to a lovely church which you are welcome to visit. The castle itself is very derelict, but you still get a feel of the history. If you want, you can walk across the adjacent fields towards Pevensey village and get a distant view.

Nice little castle to spend an hour or two. Staff very helpful and informative. Audio tour available which I recommend. If you plan on visiting lots of English Heritage sites then I recommend you get the annual membership which works out great value for money (even more value if you use tesco club card vouchers). Only one minor gripe is the audio tour is not numbered otherwise great.
