Three course meal for two and less than twenty pounds. What a bargain!
No wine or coffee of course in that price, but the water was delicious - and free....We ordered off the lunchtime menu and it was all quite tasty. Nothing special, but with lunchtime menus you get what you pay for. Very filling. And the presentation was excellent.
Staff were friendly. The place had a good atmosphere. Service was very quick, which was just what we wanted as we were off to the Congress theatre for the matinee immediately after. We could very well go back there again, but in the evening to see how good their A la carte food is.

We were recommended to try this place by the receptionist at our hotel, and would otherwise have been unlikely to find it as it is located just off the seafront well to the west of the 'main drag'.
But it turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. We arrived early evening without booking, but by the time we left the restaurant was buzzing and booking would have been essential.Staff were pleasant and attentive, and our food arrived well before we had finished our Singhas and crackers. We much enjoyed both our curry and pad dishes, which were authentic, fresh and well presented.
A reasonable bill and a blowey walk back along the seafront rounded off a good experience.

We went to this restaurant, on recommendation, for a birthday celebration.
The decor in the restaurant was pleasant but basic and the lighting was poor.
The service was great and the staff friendly and attentive but this deteriorated as the night went on and they forgot to bring an order and it took a while to get the bill.
The food was a great disappointment, it wasn't too hot when it arrived, the noodles were grey and over cooked although the Thai red curry was tasty. The starters were minimal and didn't taste restaurant made.
When we received the bill, we all agreed what poor value it was.- £4.50 for an espresso coffee? Basically top class restaurant prices for an average restaurant experience. There are some great Thai restaurants in and around Eastbourne, so we probably wouldn't return.

Optimal kitchen thai with luscious plates created with sfiziose designs, cordial staff, optimal service and fantastic atmosphere. I have gone to lunch with my wife. To try

Visited this restaurant by chance with 3 friends in mid August prior to going to the theatre. What can I say we were all in raptures with the service and particularly the excellent quality of the dishes served. If I lived nearer (Manchester my home town) I would be there every week. I can't recommend this place enough. Hope it's not just a one off and can maintain this sort of food and service.

We walked passed this restaurant the other week and thought we might give it a try in the future, well the future was today. We had been walking around the Waterfront at Sovereign harbour thinking we would eat in one of the restaurants there till we saw the inflated prices. We did enjoy our walk around the harbour but I refused to pay top prices for food which was available elsewhere for half the price. I noticed that a lot of people were just drinking coffees and soft drinks!
Anyway we drove to the other side of Eastbourne were greeted into the restaurant seated and given the menu. The waiter/manager politely enquired if we had eaten in a Thai restaurant before, explaining that we had eaten in many including having travelled to Thailand, he left us to make our choses while we got our drinks. The food was very good, the duck I had, had been skinned so it was good duck meat with no rubbish my wife's prawn dish was fresh and spicy. All the plates and serving dishes were hot which is always a good sign it always surprises me the amount of places that serve food on cold plates. The red curry sauce I had thick and creamy with all the flavours maybe it could have been a bit spicier but the do have to allow for the normal English palate.
The service was good, the food was good, the toilets were good, to my shame I forgot to leave a tip. When we revisit I will put that right

Have visited this restaurant a number of times and each time, we have had a superb meal.
You can tell it is good before you walk in as other restaurants along the road are empty and Sabaidee is packed!A very warm welcome by beautifully dressed waiters and waitresses, a relaxed restaurant with lovely decor.
Food is fantastic and menu is well thought out with a great selection to suit all pallets.Very reasonably priced compared to other over priced Thai restaurants in Eastbourne.
Highly recommended.

This restaurant was new and had a few teething problems, but as we were in no hurry having to wait a little for the food was no problem (they were waiting for a new chef to start) The food was delicious and well presented.

We have just returned from a visit to Eastbourne and our wonderful lunch at Sabaidee on Carlisle Road was the highlight of our trip. My husband and I love Thai food and I can honestly say this was the best Thai meal we have ever had. Each dish was bursting with flavour, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. We enjoyed Dim Sum, Duck with Tamarind and for my mother-in-law and I two very spicy dishes - Jungle Curry and Stir fried Duck with Chillies. The Staff were so friendly and attentive and more than happy to give advice if needed. I tried Thai Custard cake for the first time and loved every mouthful of this unusual dessert. I cannot recommend this Restaurant enough, and will be making a return visit from Southampton as soon as we can.

I have been eating at this restaurant, or rather this building that is a restaurant, for many years now. The previous owner called the restaurant Siam Orchid and it was good but not outstanding. I mention this only to give reference to those who may have eaten here previously and not know that the restaurant has now been transformed. The new owner has re-decorated to a high standard and the food has improved to match. Service is good, staff are smartly dressed and extremely polite.
My partner and I ate here last night (July 2013) and it was the best Thai food I have eaten in this country. There are three or four other Thai restaurants in Eastbourne but I urge you to eat here first; I am sure you will not be dissappointed.

When a restaurant can turn away a celebrity couple because they are too full - and then welcome them back the next night you know you have picked the right restaurant. This was the Sabaidee, a Thai restaurant, an Andy Murray lob away from the Aegon tennis tournament. The celebrity couple were non other than golfer Rory McIlroy and his beautiful tennis squeeze Caroline Wozniaki who were both in attendance when I visited and neither minded having their meal interrupted by an aged journalist cum writer. That was interesting but not as interesting as the excellent food presented at very reasonable prices. The entire experience , including a very good cocktail, was memorable and, as the man said, I will return if ever asked to cover the tournament again.

Sabaidee on Carlisle Road now has Thai coloured exterior and is more Thai inside. The decor is attractive, clean and almost authentic.
The new management are Thai, the cooks are Thai and the menu is Thai and Thai for westerners. Thai Green Curry if that is what you prefer, but there are lots of fish things....Sea Bass and Cod done Thai style....in superb light sauces, hot chillies if you want them; lots of lemon grass and ginger flavours. The wine list is quiet good, the prices are quiet reasonible.
Overall....a good, value for money, authentic Thai experience....try it.

I've never come across a more friendly, happy bunch of people running a restaurant. The food was excellent, smashing Thai fish cakes, and very good value. I would definitely return if I was back in Eastbourne.

This lovely restaurant used to be called the Siam Orchid, which was a rather ordinary place, but it has now been transformed by its new owners. Delightfully furnished and decorated and with kind and attentive staff. Only one Thai restaurant in the south-east pips this one for me and that’s in Hastings – and Sabaidee is nearer for me! I recommend the duck and the fish dishes. The cooking is excellent. Service perhaps a tad slow but that doesn’t matter to me – I’m not a fast food man and I go to Thai restaurants for a relaxed evening. Good wine list, well thought out. A place to try if you appreciate real Thai food.

Went to this new Thai restaurant yesterday for pre-theatre meal. We know the owner from previous restaurants in the town. The food, service and atmosphere are fantastic. We had the spare ribs and fishcakes as starters - lovely. We followed this with crispy cod and Can fully recommend anyone who enjoys Thai food to go to Sabaidee.

We recently ate at Sabaidee following a recommendation from the hotel we were staying in around the corner. Being big fans of real thai cooking we were not dissapointed. The mixed starter was excellent and the set menu was delicious. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day!

This was our first experience of tapas and it will not be our last. The restaurant was full but service was excellent, we did not have to wait for service at all. The food was great and most enjoyable, we liked the way you can have a little of everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant.

I visited this restaurant, again on recommendation from a friend.
You could eat the ribs without teeth as they were that tender!
We had the full courses and some Jasmine tea.
The restaurant is colourfully decorated and the atmosphere relaxing. The staff are very friendly. I would agree that the service is a little slower than regular restaurants but not excessive and I personally go out to dine to enjoy the evening and don't like to feel rushed which you definitely aren't here.
I am returning again in June and will make this my number 1 Thai restaurant in Eastbourne if these standards are upheld.
A wonderful experience.

I seem to be against the flow here, but I was disappointed on a recent visit. I had heard good things about it, but I found the food disappointing. The cod dish I had was soggy and the rice was hard and tasted strange I think due to being served in a Bamboo dish.
The service was just ok.
Maybe I picked the wrong night, but I would suggest that there are better Thai restaurants in the Eastbourne area.
