We were lucky enough to be treated to an overnight stay with dinner at The Grand to meet up with family. On arrival we were greeted with such warmth and friendliness by all of the front of house staff. They chatted to us with interest, helped us with our luggage and helped us locate a parking space.
Our room was spacious and well equipped with every need from toiletries, slippers, robes, bottled water to a nespresso coffee machine. The jacuzzi bath was an added bonus!
At dinner we were made to feel extra special, from our greeting at the Garden restaurant to the quality and service received during the evening meal. We were able to eat and socialise at our leisure without feeling rushed even though the restaurant was busy.
We used the gym and spa on the Sunday morning and luckily for us early risers it opened at 7am! The gym it well equipped albeit a little small (and warm) and the pool and steam room were clean and fresh.
The only downside we had was that the key cards deactivated twice during our stay causing us a problem in having to reactivate them at reception (despite being kept away from our phones etc). We also found that the lighting in the room could’ve been brighter for getting ready for the evening .. there were no ceiling lights, only lamps.
We will definitely return as we were made to feel valued and enjoyed the food and service given xx

Lovely weekend in a beautiful hotel. Treated with such politeness and courtesy .. health club facilities and staff lovely.. we had room service which was pretty pricey but very nice. Not keen on the breakfast buffet as hot food lukewarm at best. Good selection of pastries though.
Always a pleasure to stay here, sadly we’re disturbed a bit during night by noisey people but that was a one off.
Will be back for sure.

We have been to the grand many times over many years and this was the most disappointing. Given room 218. The bed was only 4'6" and really wobbly. Questioned this at reception and they have it as a king. No way. Was then given room 326. Room was old, cold and inland view was of a dirty courtyard and huge extraction pipe from kitchen. £165 for a night in this room is so overpriced. Staff are kind and attentive. But front desk this time we're unhelpful in understanding.
After 20 years our love affair with the grand is over.
Avoid room 326 like the plague.

We came here on a Saturday evening. Service was amazing and food was gorgeous, lots of choice and beautifully cooked. Good value for money and lovely surroundings in the garden restaurant. They catered for my allergy in detail and with utmost care. I will be back.

Beautiful, large hotel with history and perfect seafront location. All the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The food was amazing and even though it was January and low season you could still have a cooked breakfast of your choice. We loved walking along the many paths of the seafront and enjoyed the cold but sunny days. The seafront had hundreds of benches perfect for resting and watching the sea.

We had a 2 night stay and cannot understand any negative reviews of this hotel.
From the moment we arrived until we left we felt at at home and at ease. There was always plenty of staff to meet any requests and in a friendly manner. The dining room was lovely and the meal was excellent. Our room was large with comfortable beds. This is not in any way a modern hotel but if you want first class service and a feelgood factor then you have to exoerience this place. Our only sad bit was coming home. We are already plannng a Christmas package.

This hotel is magic. If you’ve ever wondered what luxury hotels were like at the turn of the century, stay here. It is such an impressive building inside and out. The rooms are great, with really high ceilings. The staff is very professional, friendly, and helpful. I recommend ordering a hot chocolate and sitting by the fire in the lobby. The Christmas decorations were nothing short of spectacular!

Stayed here for one night over the weekend to celebrate a big birthday. This is a traditional hotel so not really for those who like modern boutique hotels (imho).

But we loved it. Fantastic service - old school; polite and attentive but not in your face. Although it is old it doesn't come across as tired. Gym small but worked for me. Fabulous location, right next to seafront and a short walk to town and pier (c half a mile).

We also really like all the lounge space - lots of seating on the ground floor so you can sit and relax, chat, have afternoon tea, drink coffee etc. Our tea arrived with little cupcakes - all very nice. Also a large fire (gas!) which is in the high vaulted lobby area overlooked by balconies - very grand - but seems to get booked up for afternoon tea very quickly.

Dinner and breakfast were both very good indeed - no complaints at all - other than a very disappointed brother when they'd run out of Cloudy Bay...life goes on! A bit pricey but it didn't feel expensive given the quality.

As always an excellent time spent at an excellent hotel. From the moment of arriving to departing nothing is too much trouble.
Service level is unbelievable but done in a very discreet way.
Food is always of the highest standard.
Money well spent

The third time a group of us have visited in January. We always have a wonderful time enjoying this excellent hotel and look forward to returning again and again. The staff are warm and charming as well as efficient and thoughtful. Our rooms have always been superb and the food first class.

An absolutely beautiful hotel that has wonderful staff, wonderful facilities and wonderful rooms. It really is a timeless hotel, and I really hope that continues for many many years to come. The staff were great, and looked after us, and more importantly, our two year old daughter faultlessly. My only slight issue was the price of things at the hotel. £37 for a two course meal (perfectly nice, but not £37 nice), £2.20 for a cup of warm milk for my daughter and £5 for a cup of coffee...these prices perhaps are in line with the exclusivity and opulence of the hotel...but just feel simply too expensive to be honest. However, this is a magical place, and definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful hotel right on the seafront easy to access with parking. Simply outstanding staff we have a very nervous dog and from the workmen upwards they all tried to make his stay as good as ours. The breakfast was amazing the spa was heavenly and we loved every minute of it. We will be back. Thank you for making our visit so restful. We will be back

Everything from first greeting by doorman to final departure was first class. Not cheap few days but as they say you get what you pay for. In the case of "The Grand" I think you get what you pay for plus

Thank you. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. We came to Eastbourne for a family celebration, so we did not lunch or dine at the Grand, nor did we have time to make use of the spa and other facilities. Perhaps another time!

Stayed for two nights in a junior suite, with side sea view - really comfortable and relaxing. Quiet at night and ideally situated for the seafront. Lovely, attentive staff. Ideal hotel for families and couples too.

This is a well run hotel which is welcoming for children and provided the excellent guest experience.
The Junior Suite was a good size for a family of four.
The staff were helpful and friendly to both us and the children.
The swimming pool and leisure facilities are well maintained and we enjoyed a family swim in the evening.
Having a young family we used room service for evening meals and they were delivered within thirty minutes and were hot and well prepared.
Breakfast in the restaurant was also very good and the staff always on hand to serve.

We always enjoy staying at the Grand or as we live locally, dining there or using the facilities. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The location is beautiful and convenient for walks by the sea. The food is superb in both restaurants for lunch or dinner. The breakfast buffet is pleasant but could be improved. We have also had a great time staying there for weekend events.

Stayed a night for a special anniversary stay, taking bed breakfast and dinner option. Expensive, but 5 star is and did not begrudge it for a special occasion. All staff very attentive and polite at all times and room ideal. Dinner was excellent.

Fantastic staff helped to provide a wonderful atmosphere over the New Year in this iconic venue. Food and drinks were top notch. Visited this hotel first in 1987 and have never been disappointed.
Well done Jonathan, keep up the great work.

Took advantage of the 2 nights for the price of 1 offer and treated ourselves to a suite. Very enjoyable break with good food. Leisure Club is looking a bit tired and the Jacuzzi wasn't working. Very soft mattress. Service and staff, as always, impeccable.

We spent our new year holiday at this traditional hotel. It was totally fantastic. Kind and friendly staff welcomed us, and excellent food and drink was served in the Garden Restaurant. As it was not in peak season, we could enjoy our stay in very quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
