Having decided to go away for our wedding anniversary there was nowhere else to go than where we got married. This is a wonderful hotel and the staff are fabulous - it was obviously slightly different due to Covid but the Grand did it with style

Excellent as usual, preferred table service for breakfast as Buffett can sometimes be cold. The staff at breakfast were very efficient and extremely pleasant working under the covid conditions. Well done to all

We wanted to have a relaxing couple break and chose this hotel based on reviews and is wanting a sea view. We were not disappointed and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Ok where do I start.

As you enter the hotel all looks really nice and elegant the restaurants are grand with chandeliers etc..

We paid for a suite as it was a special occasion, paying the very high weekend rate! Hubby emailed them, looking forward to the balcony and looking out to the sea!

While checking in the transaction was very quick and no cheerful welcome chat or what the hotel has to offer!

Got into the room and bam the musty smell knocked me sick,it was so overpowering! The furniture was old and dated, stains on the carpet and dust everywhere! The room looked like it's been deserted for years.
Even Travel Lodge rooms were more appealingly! Due to the fact that we emailed in advance regarding our special occasion they gave us 2 apples and a 2 cans of mini cans of fanta and sprite, now this is a luxuary, top of the top kind of hotels!

When i rang downstairs, they did change the room, however furniture was broken, the small balcony wasn't clean. Although room furniture was better than the last one. This was meant to be a break as we have high demanding jobs but it turned out to be somewhat disappointing.

We have always enjoyed our stay at the Grand. An excellent hotel, we liked our sea view room and the facilities that were available.
The staff here are always friendly and efficient.
Our reason for not giving five stars was our disappointment with the dishes served up for Dinner in the Garden Restaurant. A three course meal will not be less than around £50 per person without drinks but what we received was not up to this standard, very different from previous visits.
Let’s hope it was just an off week in the kitchen and it will be back to the high standards next time we are in Eastbourne.

Just returned from a fab weekend break at The Grand. Fantastic location to explore the coastline.
My husband and I have been to many 5star hotels around the world and can confirm the service here is outstanding. The staff work tirelessly to ensure you have a wonderful stay.
Food is delicious in both restaurants.
Some of the hotel is looking tired but we were lucky to have a fairly new refurbished room on the ground floor. Most importantly the hotel is kept clean and tidy.
We were also impressed with the hotels safety measures in place with regards to Covid. Masks are to be worn in all public places within the hotel. Plenty of Hand sanitizers stations are located around the building, entrances into restaurant and bar. Table service only.
We would recommend this hotel.

We have just spent 4 nights at the Grand Hotel. The staff were all welcoming and polite. From a covid perspective, it was very clean, hand sanitizer at all key high touch points. Overall felt safe, while still being able to enjoy all that the Grand Offers.

We went for afternoon tea and it was fresh and pleasant but nothing to write home about. Scones were not that great, didn’t rise enough and smooth tops. Four different little cakes and lacking in the savoury selection. If you don’t like sweet things then you wouldn’t eat much. Four scones and tiny amounts of hard cold butter wrapped in foil and jam. Frugal is what came to mind.

The place was busy and staff left us alone, no offer of more tea or sandwiches etc. It was clear they were short staffed.

The surroundings are very very nice and this is what made the day okay.

Shan’t repeat it.

Our spacious sea view room basked in the autumn sunshine throughlout our stay. As you’d expect in an hotel of this reknown the room facilities were excellent, if a tad too warm for our liking. Our bed was large and comfortable. We enjoyed a large en suite bathroom which in this instance offered a shower over the bath. Not really to our taste, although one would have been able to obtain such a facility had we asked, but for a short stay, it was fine. Staff provided excellent service and were universally polite kind and helpful. Breakfast is staggered during the pandemic and we chose a late sitting. A vast variety of food was on offer and of very high quality. We were unable to book dinner at a reasonable time so dined elsewhere. A great stay at a truly grand hotel...albeit far too short.

We stayed for one night in September to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. From the moment you walk through the entrance you step into a Victorian wonderworld. All the public rooms have a real sense of the history of the hotel and the bedrooms are both spacious and traditional. Facilities are good although a fridge would have been nice. Room service is fast and efficient. We sampled both outdoor and indoor pools which were well presented and maintained. We had dinner in the Garden room which is a fabulous old world 'grand' chandeliered dining room. Food is good, but not exceptional, but the setting is superb. The hotel is also right on the seafront and close to all Eastbourne's facilities. I would recommend this hotel for a special occasion.

Splendid hotel, it merits it’s name, perhaps a bit of updating should be envisaged in the near future, excellent service. Breakfast was served quickly and there was a good choice. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions I presume, there were no brochures in the rooms to inform guests what there was to see and do in the area.

The first time my wife's and I had been to Eastbourne and for what we could see this is by far the best hotel in a lovely setting, nice grounds and located just across the road from several fir tree lined promenades
The architecture inside and out is well described by its name.
The staff were efficient and friendly and food stylish.
It is not cheap but reasonable bearing in mind its high quality

My daughter bought me a luxury afternoon tea for two at the Grand hotel. We had a really lovely time in a truly grand setting.
Tea was lovely, beautifully set out with lovely sandwiches, scones and cakes.
The waiters were really polite and professional and although very busy, they remained calm and nothing was too much trouble.
I would certainly visit again and recommend to friends and family

This is the second time we have stayed at The Grand, Eastbourne. The staff were extremely courteous and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, even though the hotel was fully booked. We shall certainly recommend to friends.

Beautiful hotel, delightful and helpful waiting staff however the service was extremely slow and the food that we received was very average and not worth the wait. WiFi inefficient and did not work in the bedroom.

We stayed here for 1 night as we had eaten in the garden restaurant but never stayed. On arrival a parking space is allocated for you at a cost of £20 in the hotel car park. Check in was quick and we were told all the covid rules of the hotel. All guests wore masks and there plenty of sanitiser around the hotel. Our room was ok apart from the bed was extremely soft and the bathroom was a little dated. We had dinner in the Garden Restaurant which was lovely but a little quick, as soon as we had finished our starter the main course arrived. We had a drink in the bar after dinner and at 10pm we were basically ushered out as they were shutting up for the night. Time slots were given for breakfast and again this was in the Garden Restaurant but we were forgotten about once we had been seated and waited 25 minutes until we had to ask a waiter to take our order as others that had arrived after us were being served their breakfast. There is a service charge added to absolutely everything which I do not agree with. We tried the hotel and were disappointed so will not be returning.

All the staff are friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. The interior of the hotel is amazing and the food served at breakfast varied, plentiful and delicious.
Our room was beautifully decorated and clean but a little smaller than I imagined it would be. Our bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and, again, beautifully decorated.
We particularly loved the indoor swimming pool which was just the right temperature - not freezing cold like pools at some hotels! Because of Covid restrictions there was a limit to the number of people in the pool at any one time so we had a lot of room to swim.

I have just spent a lovely weekend back at the Grand.

The room that I had was nice and spacious there was a nespresso machine AND a kettle in it. The rooms are still being serviced daily unlike other hotels that I have stayed at recently.
Some of the staff recognized me from previous stays. I found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. When I say all the staff I am of course including all of the boys and girls that we do not see without whom the Hotel would not run so smoothly.

Special mention should be made for Olivia and Harry in the bar. Message to management look after them they are good.

I mainly ate my meals in the lounge and the sandwiches were delicious. I cannot comment on the meals in the restaurants, because as I have already said I mainly ate in the bar.

The Hotel has an outdoor and indoor swimming pool. As the weather was so nice I had a quick dip in the outdoor pool.
I will definitely be back at the Grand shortly.

For a 5* hotel the food was not in that category. Vegeterian option was the same dish 3 nights running. In fact the whole dinner menu was the same on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were not from fresh eggs. They were dry, tasteless and grainy.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool was good. The gardens were tired and needed attention.

This was my 5th stay at The Grand. I go when there are offers which make it more accessible. Friendly staff, excellent service. One or two of the rooms look a bit tired, partly I think because of the colour schemes that were chosen, but they are very clean. The food has improved since the change of chef. Just a few presentation issues. The location is fabulous. Swimming pool improvements brilliant. Just a beautiful environment to stay in and I shall keep returning when I can afford it.

we were very disappointed with our stay, firstly the rooms are very shabby and we were unable to book rooms with walk in showers which my whole group of six needed.

service was so slow, sometimes waiting over an hour for a course to be presented in the restaurant. particularly at breakfast time..
also when ordering coffees and sandwiches during the day.

Menus did not give enough choice especially when staying for 5 nights as we did.
Food not well cooked, wrong accompaniments. often overcooked.

staff were very willing but untrained. fault with chaos in kitchen

A fridge and air conditioning would have been good. The shower was impossible to get to a reasonable temperature- I resorted to the mixer shower to wash my hair. It was disappointing to have the same menu two nights running - not even a dish of the day. Your staff were all charming and helpful.

As titles the service and staff were wonderful. Starting at the beginning we booked car parking at the hotel for our stay and as we pulled in our name was placed on a space in the front of the hotel, our bags were taken and we checked in at reception which was quick and easy. We were taken to our room which was an Executive Seaview. The room was very comfortable with all the usual amenities (coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, television) and an en suite bathroom with the shower in the bath and all the toiletries supplied. Our only criticism is the selection of food in the main restaurant, we thought the choice was limited for a 5star hotel.
