A classic British hotel with high standards of facilities and service. Expensive bar prices a little more than expected. Made up for by excellent surroundings and staff. My suite was lovely and made better by traditional fittings and fixtures.

6 of us have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Grand. Albeit short, it was crammed with luxury treatments, fine food & wine and wonderful rooms to rest our heads.
The staff were all lovely (especially the concierge) and we couldn't fault anything (and we are a fussy bunch!) Maybe a small fridge in the room could be handy to keep water cold? But that's it really. See you again soon.

Such a wonderful hotel in prime location. All staff were super attentive and and our bedroom was spotless. We ate dinner in the Garden Restaurant high quality food from set menu and well presented. For a special occasion this hotel would not disappoint.
Will def go again.

The staff are both attentive and professional. Delightful ambience and lovely atmosphere.
Wide range of facilities, albeit the gym was a little dated. Spacious and well furnished rooms. Expensive drinks from the bar!

My professional association used the hotel for a second time for the annual conference. Staff were attentive throughout, the conference facilities worked extremely well for us, food was very good, and the quality of accommodation was appreciated by delegates.

A wonderful 6 night's stay at this friendly hotel, where the management & staff try their hardest to make your stay as comfortable & memorable for a return vist. The ellegance & style brings you back to a time gone by & only a few hotels in teh world can do so..!

enjoyed our 4 days at the Grand - maybe the scrambled eggs at breakfast could be better, better to order from the waiter/waitress and get better quality bacon, eggs etc
. room was good and comfortable but no better than 4 star.

The location and building are superb. The rooms are dated and the restaurant is grotesquely over-priced for what you get. I was charged £27 for the worst half bottle of wine I've ever had (it was just about the cheapest option) and £32 for two courses which cant have cost more than £5 for the produce.

They needs a serious re-think or this place will just "whither and die on the vine".

The staff were great!

My daughter and I went for the 'Soothing Spa Break' and it totally was. Checking in time was 3pm & the lady I spoke to said we were more than welcome to land earlier and use the facilities, likewise after checking out the following day at 11am. The Grand at Eastbourne is a delightful place, a wee bit battered and bruised about the edges & so it should be - it is a rather grand old lady with lots of tales to tell. Our room, was lovely, the bed a squishy, comfortable delight. No air conditioning so rather warm however there was a fan. The furniture is a wee bit dated and there aren't enough plugs in this techno world that we live in. There was a straw from a previous occupant left behind the fan (we would not have known if we hadn't moved it) which was a bit yuk :( We paid a little extra to eat in the Mirabelle and the food and service was just lovely. Breakfast the following morning was fabulous with plenty of fresh fruit, continental & full English. The sausages were a let down :( We both opted for an express facial . . . it certainly didn't feel like it was 'express' . . . delightful. We then used the gym which is small & was quiet which was lovely, & then headed to the pool, which was lovely and warm with lots of thick towels. The gym and pool area is definitely in need of refurbishment so we just ignored that and got on with a rather fab afternoon :) All staff were really friendly and so helpful. Even to helping me get my car out of a rather full car park (there was a conference on). We stayed on for a cuppa and sandwiches - all presented beautifully & delicious. A real treat :)

Lovely hotel and location. Nice to have parking in hotel grounds.
Staff were excellent Magnificent building however....room furniture rather tired and mattress very soft. Windows could have done with a good clean.

I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel. The décor and room I had was grand and the cocktails and food was excellent. I liked the toiletries and the overall experience was luxurious. The hotel was ideally located close to the sea front and quite close to Eastbourne's shops and theatres.

Great hotel. Love the outdoor pool but the rim of the outdoor pool and the access to it could be cleaner/more presentable. Looks like you have to walk through a cellar to get to it. Steam room needs updating. Heavy stains on some seats.

We stayed in a twin room for the 7th time.
This year my mother is 93 and had the most welcoming and lovely stay in this resplendent and beautifully appointed hotel.
My mother felt relaxed and looked after and actually so did I as her daughter.
A lovely spa and pool and a great menu which catered even for my vegan tastes.
Full marks to The Grand...
We will be back next year!

Our 2 night delayed break (a Christmas present to ourselves) was on the whole quite pleasant, the highlight being the wonderful service from the mainly young, multinational staff, which began as soon as we drew up outside and the doorman took our luggage and parked the car. This is an impressive and very large Victorian hotel and the public rooms echo this heritage. We stayed in a side (partial) sea view room on the third floor with a good view over the hotel front, gardens and pool with visiting seagulls on the mini balcony. The room was medium sized and we felt the decor a bit faded, including in the bathroom. This comment applies to the hotel as a whole but we appreciate the mammoth cost of just replacing carpets on this scale. The room was clean and pretty quiet. At night the bed was turned down, curtains drawn, bottles of water, teabags etc replenished, and even used flannels replaced - this last not very good for the environment, we felt. We enjoyed a cream tea on arrival (part of our deal) in the pleasant long terrace room overlooking the gardens. The hotel does not lack for comfortable lounges and sitting areas, in one of which a little latin/jazz combo performed on the Friday night for a few brave dancers. Prices for drinks in the bar are very high, probably to be expected for a 5* hotel. The breakfast selection is pretty good from the buffet - I thought the mushrooms and scrambled eggs particularly good. For us this hotel was just too large - we prefer smaller, more intimate places - but others will like the anonymity combined with the level of service. For 2 nights, with our meals and drinks, we ended up paying around £770, which is a not cheap. This review is of the hotel only - see separate entries for the 2 restaurants, which we felt did not reach the 5* standards one would expect.

We went for a last minute easter break and had a fantastic time, the only slight disappointment was an issue with their spa booking system which prevented us booking more treatments in advance as part of the day but the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the hotel and the excellent location more than made up for that.

We had an amazing stay at the grand hotel! Every time we've stayed here we've been treated like royalty! The spa is out of this world we had an amazing massage with Tasha. The breakfast is out of this world as is all the food!

We had an excellent stay. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The location could not be better - right by the sea. The food was good with some inspired touches. The sea view room was fab - the Nespresso machine in the room was a nice touch. The room decor was a bit old fashioned for my taste. Listening to the sea as I drifted off to sleep was lovely.

Luxurious. Impressive building. Old fashioned hotel service, from doormen to restaurant staff and room maids. We didn't have dinner here but the breakfast is very good. Expensive, but you do get what you pay for. It would have got five stars if there hadn't been a couple of minor niggles in the bathroom.

We spent a weekend in this hotel for my birthday. The room was very nice and it was fantastic to be able to leave our little boy at the nursery and relax a little whilst he was having fun.
The swimming pool/ spa area is great. I had a facial which was fantastic.
On the minus side, the food we had on the Saturday evening at their restaurant was just so plain - really no better than canteen food with extra boiled vegetables and over cooked salmon... Our little boy's dinner was pretty awful as well (children buffet with super dry-looking burgers..poor choice). Definitely not a 5 star hotel quality.
So, whilst I recommend the hotel for its comfort, I really don't recommend the restaurant. The breakfast was okay but I have seen much better too.
