We visit the Towner Gallery whenever we are in the area, particularly given that it houses the Ravilious collection. Previously, we have been frustrated at the small number of Ravilious paintings actually on display - although obviously they do need to rotate their displays to allow paintings to "rest" away from the light. On this occasion, there were more paintings on display than usual, which was good. We also went round the 100 year anniversary exhibition, which was a mixed bag, as expected. Some paintings were very much to our liking, others very much the opposite. That's the nature of art: some you like, some you don't. But it was well-displayed with plenty of information about the exhibits. A much-needed cup of tea in the cafe refreshed us before we left. All in all, a pretty satisfying experience.

I really enjoyed it but thought they may have more Ravillious paintings on display than they did given how many appear on Twitter. Would go again nice ambience about the place very welcoming and friendly

Different exhibitions throughout the year with permanent ones. A large amount of local art as well. Free entry, and a cafe with good views

Great art gallery with stunning exterior art work. Most areas free of charge entry. Lots more to see than expected. Great couple of hours spent on a rainy day.

While on holiday in Sussex we made a special trip to Eastbourne specifically to see the permanent exhibition of paintings by Eric Ravillious. We were not disappointed. The rest of the gallery is interesting. The gallery is just the right size so that you can get round all the exhibits without feeling overwhelmed.

An incredible art gallery with an amazing hands-on artistic experience for the kids. We made all sorts of things and as soon as we left, I was asked by my eldest when we could go back again. I've already told one of my friends about it and will rave about it to everyone I know! The biggest lift in the entire world provided many giggles too.
Nice cafe, slightly high priced for a kids hot chocolate I'd say, but came out at the perfect drinking temperature and my oat flat white was absolutely delicious.
The art galleries themselves have a great mix of art and quite a laid back feel. Just the right size for little people without them getting too overwhelmed.

Thanks for having us...we will be back!

My heads up would be to wear old clothes if you're going to do a family drop in. I know they change all the time, but we didn't anticipate acrylic paint or drawing ink. I fear a few items of clothes will have lasting marks of the day! It's not the end of the world by any stretch but I was a bit like a mad woman trying to keep my toddler under control!

A wonderfully comfortable small cinema. No popcorn munching or chatting but people are able to bring in drinks from the cafe.
Well worth a visit, I will definitely be going again.
Thank you.

My first visit for a while and the gallery is even better than before. . . if that's possible. I have been a member for quite a long time and have seen the gallery grow in status, until it is now rightly recognised for what it is - a truly magnificent space with a collection to match. The current exhibitions are fascinating and worthy of many more than a single visit. A wonderful place!
