We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 6 nights in the Sark suite two weeks ago. The staff were all friendly and efficient, the room beautifully appointed and the food excellent. There were a number of bars and sitting spaces to have lunch or pre dinner drinks-really enjoyed our stay.

A group of eight of us stayed for four days and were all delighted with the choice. From the start a very warm and friendly welcome from Andy and the reception team.Breakfast every morning in the Brasserie was a delight with an extensive menu to enjoy. Actually managed to relax and swim in the pool on one of the days but were also able to sit out in the outside areas which were very pleasant. Various trips organised with the help of Zalan, the excellent and knowledgeable concierge.

Visited the spa and wife and I both had treatments which were excellent. One of the highlights was a great meal in the spectacular old Governor's room with a mixture of curries and seafood.

All the staff were always friendly and helpful and the service throughout was very good. . The hotel is very well situated to explore St Peter Port and further afield.

If there were any criticisms, the rooms ( even with an upgrade ) were not the largest and the air condition seemed to struggle to keep the temperature down but maybe a small price to pay for such an historic building .

We didn't stay at the hotel, but did have coffee and used the Spa Facilities.
I booked before we arrived and this is a busy Spa, so book ahead!
The facilities are very nice and clean. Customer service is second to none Joao (sorry if spelt wrong) who was on reception was absolutely perfect for front of house and an asset to the team (hope you have a nice holiday)
Sara (I think is in charge) was very helpful. Thank you to abbey for my massage. Not sure which poor soul got my partner, but thank you he loved all his treatments!!
When we come back to Guernsey, we will return.

We have just returned from this wonderful hotel. I have stayed in many hotels, but the service offered at the OGH is second to none. All the staff could not do enough for us, but the manager, Harry, was particularly impressive. The public rooms are beautiful and quirky, and the dining room a fabulous breakfast venue. The food was wonderful and very varied. we even had a fab curry one night in the spectacular old Governor's room. The hotel is very well placed to explore the beautiful and fascinating island of Guernsey, too.

We arrived by cruise ship and after taking part in a gin experience and trip around the island, we headed to OGH for another gin tasting!
We had not booked ( which I would do in advance next time, just so they knew we were coming) but were warmly greeted by several members of the hotel staff. There are a good selection of venues to eat and drink in wonderful settings. We opted for the Crown Club because of the gin tasting!
Ashling, who is charge approached us and after speaking to the chef due to the food element, started explaining about the 3 different options. Each option has 3 gins to try! Our kind of experience.
So the food was ordered, a magnificent lamb curry called Bunny Chow, served in a large tasty bun. Then the drinks arrived.
Each gin was tasted neat, then with a flavour, then ice and finally tonic. Every time we added something, the taste of the gin changed! Wonderful.
In the first we added crushed apple, to the second ruby grapefruit and my favourite the third - coriander. This with the curry was a taste sensation.
I hope this is correct because having tasted gins in the morning and now more in the afternoon my memory may have become a little cloudy!
The price was good as well, with a generous tip ( as we were all very happy ) £80 for 3 people. In our opinion a wonderful early afternoon experience in exceptional surroundings. Some people ate outside on a beautiful terrace but we opted for inside looking out onto the swimming pool. Beautiful crisp white napkins, what more can I say.
I suppose the fact that the sea conditions had changed since the morning meant that the tender operation had to be suspended was a sobering experience for us, as we had to stand on the quay side for a few hours!
Next time we are in St Peter Port we will try nos 1 or nos 3
Thank you

A comfortable, relaxing stay at the OGH (as it brands itself), in a luxurious 'King' room, recently refurbished to a high standard. The service offered was of a high standard especially in the restaurant, where we commend the professionalism of Maitre D' Ken, and in the excellent Spa-Gym facility, overseen by genially efficient manager, Danny.

We dined in the Brasserie restaurant twice during our stay and in the Governor's Room on a third evening. Overall, the food served was prepared and presented at a very high standard.

One thing that we noted that must be improved would be to include all the key ingredients served in a dish in it's menu description. The Lobster soup offered in the dinner menu contained (unrequired) bacon pieces. This ingredient was not mentioned in the soup's menu description, significantly altered the flavour of a seafood dish, and could cause a problem if served without warning to pescatarians, members of the various faiths which do not favour the eating of pork products and any other diners - such as this reviewer - who do not wish to eat bacon / chorizo / ham pieces unnecessarily added to seafood meals.

Booked a studio suite direct with hotel. Less than websites and included a £50 voucher on dining in hotel. Great location. Well trained and helpful staff. Food and wine excellent. Room nice but air-con not very effective and no hot water in shower. Otherwise, very good and we would return.

Lovely place to stay for a few nights. Rooms somewhat small but with all the facilities one would want. A very comfortable place who's greatest asset, by far, are the staff who were all perfectly charming.
Not particularly impressed with dinner in the main restaurant but breakfast was very good.

Had a lovely 2 night break here. Charming, hotel with lovely outdoor area and pretty bedrooms. The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble. Pool was warm even in April. Fantastic range of food at breakfast.

Stayed here for 1 night on business. Is the only 5 star on the island apparently. The building is very old and grand all classic and stylishly decorated. Had a queen delux room, nicely appointed but fairly small I would say for the price.
Nice coffee and biscuits in the room and L'Occitane products in the bathroom.
2 bars and bistro and breakfast really nice. Best hotel on the island, but not 5 star compared to London etc.

If you are looking for first class luxury then look no further.

This hotel is renowned for its excellent customer service and attention to detail.

Something for those special occasions, or just for a drink in the bar .... you will not be disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent service.

Haven't been for ages but rocked up as birthday drinks in motion for a friend. Pleasantly surprised. Less pomp n ceremony, good vibe, great service from staff despite drinkers paying little attention. The added touches of great nibbles with a sense of privacy with service is second to none. Thank you Ashley! Not your obvious Friday night drinking hole but after last Friday I'm sold!

Super hotel in an ideal off town location.
The restaurant chefs select and produce excellent food all served to an extremely high standard by superb staff. Dont miss the breakfast bacon, it was the best Ive ever tasted.
Our room was not overly large but well appointed with very comfortable bed and seamless air-conditioning. Housekeeping was highly proffesional and practically invisible.

The 'spa' is actually the 'Revolution Health Club at The OGH' and is open to anyone for a one month subscription, the treatment section is loosely managed and seemingly for locals, both are best avoided if you have experience of genuine Spa Hotels.
The hotel is regularly used for conferences and but the delgates are very well managed by dedicated hotel staff and rarely give cause for concern.

Would we stay at the OGH again? Yes, most certainly!

My 83 year old mother and I had the most terrific time in Guernsey, and although we love the island, what made the visit so fantastic was staying in this truly 5 star hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff, the food was all gorgeous and the hotel was spotless and beautiful. They treated my mother, who has severe memory problems, with complete respect, making the holiday a delight for both her and me. Small touches, like the Easter bunnies, dairy free sweets for me and high quality chocolates every night, make you feel welcome. The staff did everything they could to make my newly diagnosed dairy intolerance, not a problem and were very helpful.
I didn't get to try out the spa, as we were busy revisiting places from the past, but on our next visit I certainly will.
Thank you to all of the staff. It was a lovely holiday. 😄😄😄

We went with friends for afternoon tea - all lovely. Great friendly service, staff obviously enthusiastic about their place of work. Beautiful building and the tea was fabulous. If we return to /guernsey this would be the place to stay.

Delighted to find this gem of a hotel still as good as I knew it 50 years ago. The staff could not do enough to make us welcome and my daughter's dog was looked after better than at any other hotel he has stayed in. We dined in the Brasserie and thoroughly enjoyed each meal - with one small proviso that the chef could be a bit more adventurous with his deserts. However brakfast was superb.

The Old Government House Hotel is a fantastic place to stay with outstanding service and a warm and comfortable atmosphere; we had a wonderful time. Right in the heart of St Peter Port, this is an ideal location to explore all Guernsey has to offer; the staff can't have been more helpful or attentive. The evening meal at The Brasserie was excellent and the selection for breakfast was delicious; we will certainly be going back! The staff were outstanding offering helpful advice as to the best places to visit; we were made to feel welcome at every opportunity.

Lovely hotel, staff are very attentive nothing is too much trouble bit of a climb from the town, but it is quite close to all the shops. Rooms are made up twice a day if needed, luxury plenty of tea coffee and milk in the room, and a big comfortable bed.

Overall we enjoyed our 4 night stay in OGH the room was a little small but the suitcases did fit in the wardrobe so were out of the way. The check in was quick and we were shown to our room but not given much other information even about where to go for breakfast. The staff were all very polite and sorted a problem with our room very quickly.
Breakfast was very good but we did not eat any other meals there as we prefer to eat as we go. Would stay there again when we return to Guernsey.

First of all, the rooms are small but for 1 or 2 nights they are good.
Staff are brilliant, very attentive and helpful.

Bed was good to sleep in and I would go back to this hotel.

Location is excellent as you can walk into town in less than 2 minutes.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at this hotel, however there is little that is needed !!
Accommodation and dining both excellent.
Spa available (but not used by me).
Go for the rooms with a view over the harbour towards Herm (worth a trip in itself).
Central for all local services.
Wouldn't hesitate to go again.

A stay here is a very nice experience. On arrival, the reception desk were friendly and informative offering iced lemon water which was much appreciated after our long ferry trip. Our car was taken and parked for us due to the restricted parking facilities. However, we did not use our car for the duration as the bus service in Guernsey is very good and cheap. Our room was compact but had everything for our comfort although we could have done with another chair. The bathroom was very nice with good quality toiletries and super fluffy white towels. Also had automatic blue lighting for that visit to the bathroom at night! The room was serviced twice daily and everything was very clean. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of fruits, juices and yoghurts. There is a charge for a "healthy" breakfast but there is a nice selection of other cooked food included in the price. I tried the crushed avocado one morning and quinoa another as this is not something you have everyday for breakfast. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We ate one evening in their restaurant. The food was nicely cooked and presented. The cost for the two of us was £97 for a starter , main, a glass of wine each, coffee and I had a liqueur so not cheap. However, as we had a £50 meal allowance, this brought it down to an acceptable level and it was nice to dress up for an evening. There are nice gardens and an outdoor swimming pool. There is no indoor pool which is a shame. Access on foot to OGH is uphill so might present some difficulty for someone with walking problems but otherwise in a good position. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who go out of their way to help and we would stay here again.

I spent my birthday here for a relaxing weekend away. The hotel is in the ideal location near to the town in a very scenic spot. Our room was perfect with stunning views out to sea, everything is very luxurious with traditional charm. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful - it really makes a difference, thank you to Andrew and his team. We ate in the curry restaurant one evening, which I can highly recommend. All the food is of a very high quality. The hotel has a wonderful ambience and is very popular for events and afternoon teas. Please do not hesitate to book this hotel for your next trip to Guernsey, you will love it! We can't wait to go back.
