My husband surprised me by booking us into The Duke of Richmond Hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary, and from the moment we walked into the hotel we were not disappointed. The receptionists were polite, courteous, friendly and very informative on places of interest to visit. The room we stayed in was clean and bright. All the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and attentive and made recommendations of local produce and the best wines to drink with your menu choice. St Peter Port is about a 15 - 20 minute down-hill walk from the hotel with the beautiful Candie Gardens within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel, with amazing views over the Port.
All in all a fantastic hotel, friendly staff, amazing food and a hotel we will definitely be visiting again.
Thank you to all at The Duke of Richmond for making our 10th wedding anniversary very special.

The Duke Of Richmond is a lovely hotel in a great location overlooking St Peter Port. Only a 5 minute walk into the town and very close to the Guernsey museum and the Victoria Tower. Lovely room and welcome. Our stay coincided with my 50th birthday and staff at the hotel really went out of their way to make my day extra special.
Glasses of champagne at breakfast and a chocolate and fruit happy birthday gift in our room. All the staff kindly signed a birthday card for me.
Breakfast was really good, lots of choice. We also dined in the restaurant and service and quality of food was excellent. The front of the hotel doesn't really do it justice but the interior is high quality. Our room could of been a bit bigger but only a minor gripe.
Highly recommend The Duke Of Richmond and we would most definitely stay there again if we return. St Peter Port is a great place to visit for a long weekend.

I recently stayed for two nights at the Duke of Richmond with my small Lhsas apso Lucy and the staff I couldn't fault. The service was amazing but not intrusive and the surroundings and room lovely.

I have not travelled with a dog before and the hotel were really accommodating even providing Lucy with a dog bed and bedroom door notice so staff didn't disturb her too much. My dog was also welcome in the bar and so could eat with me so I didn't have to leave her in unfamiliar surroundings until she had adjusted. The balcony was safe and dog friendly too.
Hotel very accessible for St Peter Port centre also opposite a lovely quiet park and Guernsey museum both dog friendly. Food ws fabulous too. We will be back I should think

Stayed here as an anniversary break. On arrival we were met with smiling happy staff who were genuinely pleased to welcome you. Our king room overlooked the park and was spotlessly clean and roomy. Olga always greeted us in the morning with a beaming smile. Breakfast menu was excellent with several choices to suit every taste. Dinner menu in the evening again was varied and cooked to a very high standard. The hotel itself was at the top of a steep hill 10 mins to walk to the harbour was not too difficult but we didn't walk back up as there is a taxi rank at the bottom which we used and was £5 to the hotel. The sun terrace is a real sun trap and to have a drink outside was so nice. Throughout the hotel it was spotlessly clean. I Highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff they were so pleasant.

I've stayed here before approx 3 years ago but the staff recognised me and welcomed me back. It really is a love place to stay, quirky yet refined.

The room was excellent, I stayed in room 215 the king size bed was lovely. As I was with work colleagues we decided to eat in the hotels restaurant, the food was lovely. Wonderful wine selection too. Every time I've stayed here the restaurant is very busy so I'm glad we booked.

Breakfast was served in the same restaurant and the selection was super along with the cooked English breakfast. The freshly squeezed orange juice was just delicious.

The staff are excellent at this hotel can't do enough for you. Would I return......... yes tonight if I could.

Breakfasts are on ereally well done with a good selection of cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses, eggs, etc & good coffee. The staff were always helpful & friendly!

A really lovely hotel, with superb food. Breakfast was plentiful and if you choose to have an evening meal it was of a very high standard. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Aaron who couldn't do enough for us. We upgraded to a suite after our first night as found the standard room to be on the small side. The suite had everything that we could have asked for. Hairdryer, iron, fluffy towels, robes, slippers, even down to stationery in the desk drawer and the little easter eggs left on our bed were a nice touch. We will definitely visit again.

This is one of our most favourite places to stay, it's great decor, fabulous rooms and even great views to top!

The Duke of Richmond is situated just a short stroll to the town of St Peter Port and right beside Candie Museum and gardens. It's a four star hotel with five star service and a five star heart! Nothing is too much for the staff who all work hard in making everyone's stay a memorable one.

We travelled as a family with a dog and booked a suite. The views over St Peter Port were breathtaking as was the room itself. A comfy bed along with lovely touches such as biscuits, clipper tea, fresh coffee and sweets.

The dog was treated just as well with her own bed, bowl and certificate to say she had stayed with them. They also make up special door handle tags to let people know there is a dog in the room. Our dog is a small service dog so has to travel with us, but this Hotel is very pet friendly.

The staff go out of their way to help in any way they can, such as Aaron who took care of me when I suffered a migraine on our first day as soon as he heard about it, he bought to the room, Iced water, napkins and ice for my headache. The reception staff made us feel warmly welcomed.

The restaurant is great along with a fabulous bar called the leopard bar. Breakfasts are amazing with items such as smoked salmon, kippers and beautiful freshly made eggs. You don't get just three choices of juice but many, from pineapple, cranberry, pomegranate, banana and strawberry smoothies. If I could live here I would!

My extreme thanks to all the staff, both in reception, housekeeping and the restaurant, to stay here means you have sampled amazing Guernsey hospitality from the islands best staff. Will I be back with our family? YES!

The hotel is very welcoming and the standard of service very high. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Cleanliness is excellent. The breakfasts are huge and the chef is willing to cater for individual needs. we had two evening meals both of an excellent standard, the crab starter that I enjoyed was truly magnificent. We had a room with a sea view which unusually had two chairs so we were able to sit and read. The terrace was a delightful spot for relaxing in the sunshine. we were touched that staff had noticed it was our anniversary and sent us a card and a food gift. I would recommend this hotel highly. Be aware that there is a steep hill to the hotel but it is worth the climb! Taxis are willing to take you back from the seafront to the hotel.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Customer service throughout our stay was of the highest standard. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean being well maintained and serviced.
Breakfast was a delight and the evening meals well cooked, superbly presented and excellent value. The professionalism and smartness of appearance of staff again was high. There are many establishments that should aspire to match the operation of "The Duke Of Richmond"

Came here for a short business trip. Staff did everything to make the stay pleasant, very friendly, helpful and attentive. Rooms are comfortable and the terrace is nice for relaxing on a summers evening. Opposite the local park which is a pleasant place to relax or do exercise. 7-10 minute walk to the waterfront.

Excellent breakfast.

The foyer of this hotel is not user friendly, hard furnishings and the black and white effect very cold feeling.
Our classic double room was quite small and made for two people to move around not easy ,the bedside table was mostly taken up with the huge side lamp !!
Bedding was of high quality and size of bed pleasing, nice Fragonard toiletries, soft fluffy towels and even a flannel.
The evening meal was bistro style,I had expected a really nice a la carts menu, the food was very mediocre, waiting staff pleasant but seemed all to be in training.
Hotel exterior in need of a make over, peeling paintwork did not make for a good first impression, the hotel sign was shabby.

We have just returned from a seven nights stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff, whether in reception, the restaurant and bar or housekeeping were friendly, efficient and very helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was luxurious with a comfortable. King size bed and a lovely bathroom. The attention to detail was superb too.
We chose from a wide range of food at breakfast and Olga and her staff made us very welcome, making the effort to make the service personal to our requirements. We ate in the restaurant twice in the evening. The meals were delicious, especially the fish dishes.
The hotel is situated just above Candie Gardens where the spring flowers were blooming magnificently during our stay.
Summing up we had a relaxing week in Guernsey with lots of bus rides, sightseeing and walking. It was great after our wandering to return to this wonderful, luxurious hotel and rest and relax. Just superb.

The decor at the Duke of Richmond is superb and the attention to detail and cleanliness is without fault .

However its the staff who escalate this great hotel into a fabulous place to stay. Housekeeping, Maintenance, Dining Room/Bar Staff, Chef's and Reception, each and every member of staff we encountered where courteous, knowledgeable and efficient their willingness to please was genuine and enthusiastic. Thank you

Booked for 5 people and we greeted by friendly but professional staff. The waiter was very informative on the tea selection and bought various jars across for us to smell the teas. Sandwiches are delicious and you can choose your own flavours off the menu. Smoked Salmon, Roast Beef, mini pastries. 2 home made scones plain and fruit per person with jam and double cream. The cake selection looked lovely, but was too full to taste any. Hotel provided cake boxes to take home anything we wished to take. If you want a treat in beautiful art deco surroundings then this is the place for you.

Stayed here again twice within the space of a week. This time, I decided to splash out and have a Junior Suite! My accommodation was absolutely superb - I could gladly live in that suite. The walk-in shower was absolutely fantastic - quite the best shower that I have ever experienced anywhere. The in room air conditioning was efficient and fairly quiet, too. The staff were all absolutely wonderful - The two Laurens, Aaron, Homa, and Olga being just a few of those who thoroughly spoiled me. Housekeeping was of an incredibly high standard, and preferences from previous visits were noted. I shall have no hesitation in returning to the Duke of Richmond on my next overnight visit to Guernsey. My ever grateful thanks to all concerned.

The Duke of Richmond has capacity to hold huge functions, with enough room for a bar area, dancing and plenty of tables.

The downside is that what they have in atmosphere, they lack in catering. Admittedly, there were a lot of guests when I visited, but I tend to be of the view that if you can't cater well (both in terms of food quality and efficiency) for large groups, don't do it.

Otherwise a lovely place, smart and friendly.

I used to work at this hotel many years ago- since them its been upgraded and is first class- ideal for people on business its near the park and beau sejour centre where there are sports facilities and attractions. Also near Candie Gardens ( one minute walk) which is a place to visit.

We spent a week here in May last year. The hotel was well above what I would have
expected for the price.. The rooms, decor etc were all first class and the restaurant was not only excellent but inexpensive. Great value for money. Staff all very helpful and accommodating.

This hotel is a good base . It's a ten minute walk to town, and although on a hill a taxi up is only five pounds if you don't fancy the walk back . There's a small corner shop just down the road and parks nearby. The position is very peaceful . The basic rooms are small but are mainly well decorated . Rooms were cleaned daily and they also offer a turn down service. The staff were friendly and the restaurant is obviously a big hit with locals too. Communication before we arrived was also very efficient. Overall we felt this was a pleasant hotel that I would go back to.

We stayed at the end of November/beginning of December to celebrate a milestone birthday for my wife. From the moment we arrived we were well looked after. The food is excellent with a good choice. Breakfast is particularly good and well worth taking your time over. The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed, staff are very polite and efficient and certainly make you feel more than welcome. We prefer the Duke of Richmond to the OGH. Birthday celebration was wonderful culminating with a sweets plate and card left in the room whilst we were at dinner. We also sampled afternoon tea, which again was excellent, our advice would be not to arrange a meal anywhere on the night after, it really is satisfying and filling, just have a light supper. All in all a memorable occasion for the right reason.

Stayed overnight visiting from neighbouring Sark. A minor misunderstanding meant that there was no taxi on my arrival at the Sark quay, but this was swiftly rectified. From then on, my stay was faultless. Reception staff were superb. I was escorted to my room and given a full run-down on the facilities. I had requested a room with a walk-in shower. In the event, my room was very small, but had an extremely comfortable Queen bed and a great rain shower. The room was quiet and I slept well. Dinner was great, and I will review the restaurant separately. I had a lovely snack before leaving the hotel the following day. I wanted to return to the hotel in a few weeks, but as the hotel will be closed for refurbishments I have been booked into their sister hotel - a five star property - at a very reasonable rate. The General Manager is very much "hands on". I saw him three times in twenty-four hours, including an occasion when I asked for advice about operating the in-room air-conditioning. This is a lovely hotel, and I look forward to returning.

This hotel was booked for my by a colleague, so I didn't know anything (even the name) until we arrived.
The lobby is exquisitely decorated with displays of afternoon tea. Whilst the stairs are a bit excessive, it just adds to the charm of the hotel.

The rooms were a good size and the bathroom very modern and clean. I only wish I'd had more time to spend in the very comfortable bed.

For a first visit to Guernsey, this hotel was a very positive experience, with very friendly staff and very good food - the new winter menu had just been released and was a perfect selection.
