Based on several good reviews, we took the plunge and booked the DOR. They organised a taxi to pick us up from the airport, we arrived at the hotel and they wished us happy anniversary. When we got to our upgraded room, it had a beautiful view to the port, a bottle of bubbly and a card signed by all the staff, a really nice touch! Our stay was fantastic, great hotel, great location, great food too, both breakfast (massive selection of cooked and continental) and dinner with excellent fish choices. Would definitely recommend and likely to go back again.

Can't praise the DOR highly enough. We had a fantastic room 317 which was a superior King and had lovely views down to the port. We had advised the hotel we were celebrating our 1st anniversary and we arrived in our room to a plate or petit fours and a hand written card signed by the whole staff. Amazing touch!
We splashed out on romantic turn down which didn't disappoint. We dined in twice in the evening and both the food and service were excellent. We will definitely return. Guernsey itself was spectacular and would recommend a day trip to Herm to a little piece of paradise. Bring comfy shoes as it is a little hilly around the hotel and St Peter Port. Great exercise to combat the amount of food and drink we consumed!

Excellent hotel with very good service. We stayed in a nice junior suite. Very comfortable. About 10 minutes walk to High St. Breakfast is included with the room and is a combination of a continental buffet and choice of a hot selection. Elegant dining room and good service. Umbrellas are readily available and bottled water and towel for a morning walk or jog. Some rooms have a good view of the harbor.

Fantastic hotel with a superb compliment of staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure our stay at this hotel was "Perfect". From Lukas, the Hotel Manager, to David and Matty behind the bar, and Orlando (thanks for the Captain Morgan) and his always smiling wife.....everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Special mention for Petar.....a great guy with an awesome character and an amazing work ethic who has become a friend for life. If we ever return to Guernsey, we will be sure to stay at the DOR again.

Fantastic stay at the Duke of Richmond -the customer service both in booking, pre stay arrangements and whilst at the hotel were second to none and equalled if not exceeded any hotel we have stayed in worldwide. In addition it was so wonderful to be able to take our miniature dachshund away with us and for him also to be welcomed and catered for in such a welcoming fashion. The room was superb as was the food and room service.would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends, family and colleagues

As part of our visit to Guernsey we were lucky enough to stay at this hotel. The outside isn't much to look at but the inside is awesome. If you like chic you will love this. We had fantastic room with a huge queen size bed. As a decadent action we had breakfast in bed on the last day too ha ha (£3 per tray)

From the booking process to leaving the hotel was a pleasant experience. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant, friendly, professional and helpful. The food was amazing. We had planned to eat out but after the first nights dinner we decided to eat at the hotel every night. We arrived from the airport by taxi (arranged by the hotel) at 9.45am and our room was already prepared for us. The staff on reception on the day we were leaving were very helpful as the flights were delayed by fog and they offered to check the situation for us continually. The waitress who served us the most in the dining room was exceptional but we cannot remember her name! She told us that she originated from Madeira so I do hope the hotel will be able to work out who she is as she deserves some recognition. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will definitely return.

The Hotel did take a while to find so if you're hiring a car study your route from the airport before hand and also check out the parking regulations around the hotel as it only has 5 parking bays. The hotel it's self is loverley, clean start and welcoming the staff very nice and friendly, breakfast was as expected very good quality, varied and plentiful. Would not hesitate to stay with them again.

The Duke of Richmond is a beautiful and exceptionally clean hotel but what makes this hotel so good is the staff ! I have just returned from 2 nights there with a friend with a disability and I can not price the staff enough nothing is too much trouble, The room was large and had all the amenities you could want and there are extra little touches like free mineral water, wifi in all the rooms. The rooms are well sound proofed and the restaurant food is lovely and good value. There is a great out door pool where you can sit and enjoy the surrounding with a free glass of ice tea. I can not praise this hotel enough

This is a first class hotel, a gem and honestly recommended for first class accommodation. Led by a staff who's care and attention to detail ensure a comfort led stay. Excellent only begins to describe this lovely lovely place.
Rooms well appointed, very quite, and comfortable. Resteraunt well appointed and an interesting choice of menu. Intriguing desserts with classic options for those less adventurous. This hotel is simply faultless

we spent five nights here last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our room with a sea view was lovely, the staff were marvellous and we really enjoyed the food. The hotel only has a few parking spaces but it was easy enough to find somewhere to park near to the hotel. There is a downhill walk into St Peter Port so perhaps that wouldn't suit everyone. All in all a great few days.

We stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate my husbands birthday. The place is lovely, very friendly staff, excellent food and last but not least: The day of the birthday he received a nicely decorated plate and a personally written birthday card...very nice, this personal touch! Thank you Aaron 😉

We recently held our social club quiz night at the Duke of Richmond, and I cannot praise the staff enough for their care and attention. The room was clean and well laid out, and the buffet supper beautifully prepared. The organiser had not received a message regarding someone's dietary requirements but a word with the chef and within ten minutes he had brought out a tray of gluten and dairy free food. Thank you to Helen, Adrian and your team, and of course the chef, for helping to make it a great event!

Lovely rooms many with impressive views. Incredibly friendly & efficient staff of young people wise beyond their years make this a perfect jumping off place to see this little bit of the UK closer to France than England. Breakfast in the solarium is a great way to start the day & if a day of touring or working has you tire out, you won't go wrong with having dinner in the dining room.

Excellent breakfasts - loved the fresh fruit and cooked choices. The staff were all very kind and helpful, and the hotel was clean and to a high standard. Our bedroom was a little cramped, otherwise a perfect stay.

High praise should only be awarded when it is deserved: this hotel certainly earns every accolade that it is afforded. From arrival to departure a guest feels special, valued and, above all, individual. So often hotels provide a service that might well be very good but assumes all visitors are the same - of course, they are not, and the staff of the Duke of Richmond make sure that individual tastes, preferences, likes an dislikes are noted and respected. We are regular visitors to Guernsey for short breaks and we have particularly enjoyed exploring the island's fine cuisine and restaurants. On this occasion there was no need as the hotel has the delightfully decorated Leopard Bar and Restaurant. With such a fine kitchen with a wonderfully varied and interesting menu there was no need to go any further. The ambiance is truly sumptuous as well as relaxing especially in the bar where the expert staff will find or create the drink of your choice or simply while away an afternoon with tea and scones.

The accommodation is luxurious - everything read in the Red Carnation brochure or on their website is not an exaggeration or an artist's impression. The rooms are spacious, immaculately presented and superbly equipped to make one's stay a memorable one. Finally, a celebration of the staff of the Duke of Richmond: thoughtful, respectful, painstaking in their service to the guests and carrying out their duties with warmth and a sense of humour. This is a highly recommended hotel that deserves a very high rating. We shall most certainly be visiting again.

We were on our way to an air race weekend in Abbeville and decided to have 2 nights in Guernsey to extend our break away. We chose this hotel from good reviews on this site as it seemed the perfect hotel for a relaxing break. We were not disappointed! The decor is very eclectic with jungle and animal prints on the Walls, ceilings and furniture, this reflects the South African owners and is very original and fun. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, the towels and bed linen of superb quality. The staff are very friendly especially the reception staff who made us feel very special. We spent our final night dining in the restaurant, a superb 3 course dinner with bottomless bubbles - the April special deal. Amazing value. On our return to our room we discovered a carrot cake had been decorated with an aircraft and race pylons with a good luck message and card. We were very touched at such a thoughtful gesture as we only mentioned this in passing to Ben on reception. If we return to this beautiful Island we will stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Just back from a relaxing 2 night break in Guernsey & I couldn't have wished for a better hotel to stay in. The staff are just lovely & epitomises everything that the red carnation chain stand for. The room or rather suite (115) was spacious, spotlessly clean & beautiful. Had a lovely terrace which had the weather been better would have been a perfect spot to chill.

Breakfast was freshly cooked & plentiful. Highly recommend the omelettes. Plenty of choice of fruit pastries etc.

For various reasons we may be going to the island two or three times this year. I only want to stay at this hotel.
Thank you to all at The Duke of Richmond.

I really can't fault this hotel. The team are so friendly. Noting is too much trouble - from doing my printing to making me an egg sandwich at a moment's notice and everything in between.
I took my chihuahua doggy along with me. Hotels often say they are pet friendly but turn out to only allow pets in the bedrooms. Dexter was made extremely welcome everywhere he went. In the bar he was brought water and treats. In reception he was treated like a human guest. We even had our very own bedroom door sign. As always the food is exceptional at the DofR. Can't wait to return.

Stayed here for three days in March and had an extremely enjoyable visit; didn't want to leave! The hotel's publicity says it pays a lot of attention to detail and this is not a hollow statement. The room and bathroom were spotless, the breakfast (and one evening meal we took in the restaurant) was excellent but most of all the service was some of the best I have ever experienced in an hotel. I especially liked the greeting one received from reception staff every time one entered the hotel. The staff are not only very well trained but they were all particularly friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very well placed for St Peter Port and is in a quiet and leafy location. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.
