great ambiance, great service. Food is always fantastic and the leopard bar is a great place for a pre-dinner cocktail. The staff are always polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Hotel was central to St Peter's Port yet quietly situated away from heavy traffic. Room was immaculately clean and views to the sea made it even more special. Staff at the hotel, front of house and in the dining room, couldn't have been more helpful. Food at breakfast and in the restaurant first class.

I took my mother for a five day break, having not been to Guernsey for over 20 years. Hotel was perfectly located. Staff very friendly and rooms very good. Had several meals in restaurant all of which were delicious! On one evening there was an event in the restaurant which we had not been told about and we were unable to eat there, however we were offered room service. We did not want to eat in our rooms so sat in a small lunge area in hotel. Staff went out of their way to make sure everything was okay and we were happy and comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend and would definitely go back.

We have visited many hotels during our travels around the world but I can honestly say, the Duke of Richmond is the only Hotel we leave with a tear in our eye and a lump in our throat. It's like saying Goodbye to your family.

For the weekend to visit relations, we enjoyed an exceptional level of welcome with genuine friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency from every member of staff we encountered, We had a standard double which, although small in dimensions, was tastefully decorated and furnished with a large and comfortable bed and everything was clean and worked. Roof terrace, conservatory dining room were all good and the breakfasts excellent. Location was good but St. Peter Port is hilly so be prepared when exploring the waterfront, shops, etc.

We have recently returned from our ‘home away from home’ in Guernsey where the staff welcome you back as you arrive in the taxi. You are treated as returning friends by all the staff from the receptionist to the Hotel Manager.
The room, food and service, as per our previous visit, were superb and if there is a problem they go out of their way to find out what went wrong so they can ensure that it does not happen again.
We noticed that a number of guests in the restaurant were not hotel residents but locals which is a good sign and supports the rule of going where the locals go. We suggest that you look out for the specials board which tends to feature locally caught fish and meat from the islands. The chefs go out of their way to produce delicious meals but if you want a variation of a meal on the menu they will do their best to accommodate it. I especially liked the Tiger Prawns Linguini and my wife thought the Rib Eye steak was excellent.
If you want to know more about the island or for ideas regarding places to visit we suggest you talk to the concierge, such as Aaron who is a local.
We have stayed in a variety of luxury hotels around the world and the Duke of Richmond is by far our favourite hotel. What a good find we have made.
We are already planning our next visit which unfortunately will have to wait until early next summer.

Stayed on the 4th floor in room 500 and despite the unusual 1980s inspired decor, the food was great but most of all the service is the best I have ever experienced. They flexed the service to the customer and treated them as individuals. The teams really seemed to get on well together and were polite and happy in working with each other. I was very impressed.

From arrival to departure seven days later every effort was made to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Wonderful rooms with everything you may wish in a hotel room.

All staff always pleasant and polite and they always look like they meant it.

Genuinely friendly and super-helpful staff. They don't just make you feel that they care; I believe they really do. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. The food is superbly cooked and presented and there is a warm and welcoming bar with a good range of drinks. A gem of an hotel in the beautiful island of Guernsey.
We visited for a weekend break and were very lucky with the weather; two lovely sunny days. This enabled us to breakfast on the terrace on the Sunday morning; wonderful.
If you feel the need to leave the hotel, it is a short walk outside of town which avoids the high street noise (such that it is); downhill on the way in but a bit of a climb coming back but taxis are readily available and inexpensive.
I cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough.

We stayed here one night on a day trip to Guernsey and will definitely be back. The staff were great - responsive, helpful and friendly. The room was absolutely perfect - very clean, very comfortable and no complaints at all. We're already planning a return trip

My late fostee dad Peter Bale worked here as a night porter when I was living with him, my foster mum Lilian and my foster siblings in the nineties. He showed me round the hotel one day and it is stunning.

We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for 4 nights & it was wonderful.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the town, but you do need to be quite fit as it is all uphill going back to the hotel.
There is a lovely seated area overlooking the sea where you can enjoy a cocktail or a cup of tea.

The staff were friendly & very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent.
We would definitely stay again.

Hotel is very good with helpful friendly staff. Room that we have is comfortable and clean. We would recommend the Duke of Richmond hotel. Breakfast menu is very good and food cooked well and presented very well. We arrived very early on Saturday morning on ferry from Poole but they had a room ready and we able to rest after journey.

Spent a couple of nights here and just wish we could have stayed longer. Our room overlooked the park and was very elegantly decorated with a large t.v., bathroom and a good selection of toiletries. Also a kettle, tea and scrummy biscuits. The bar and lounge are stylish and an outdoor terrace overlooks the outdoor swimming pool. Afternoon tea + champagne served on the terrace is very popular with a good variety of cakes and sandwiches. Reception and wait staff are all very friendly and efficient. breakfast is excellent with Continental plus a good menu of hot dishes including omelettes. All very well cooked and portions make lunch unnecessary. Excellent restaurant for dinner and lunch. Can't wait to return and also to try other Red Carnation hotels.

We had room 303 allocated to us for our wedding anniversary. The decor was initially surprising! Large comfortable bed with a choice of ordinary or feather pillows.
We were on a B & B basis and the breakfast was better than adequate in both size and choice. There was also enough staff to be attentive, and when I accidentally dropped a butter knife there was someone at the table to pick it up before the sound of it dropping had stopped. The hotel staff were excellent, helpful and pleasant.
For a change, we decided to look about the town for lunch and evening meals, these all seemed to be just a tad pricey. The hotel is a good 10 -15 minutes walk from the front, and marina, is pretty steep and you need to be fairly fit. St. Peter Port we found to be a large town near a marina and Castle Cornet (worth a visit). but little else to visit as a tourist except Candie Park and it's museum, a tapestry done by the island's ladies and Victor Hugo's house. It was interesting to look out to sea and view the other islands of Alderney, Herme, Sark and Jersey and even on a clear day the distant coastline of Brittany. Also there were cruise ships occasionally mooring and the Condor ferry coming in.
The bus service is excellent from the bus station near the marina, and each and ALL rides are £1, whether 2 or 3 stops or right round the whole island. Much cheaper if you purchase a 1 Day or 2 Day or 7 Day Pass (which give unlimited rides for that period, We opted for a book of 20 separate tickets (cost £17) which brought down the price to 85p per ride. There are regular buses to and from the airport, a bargain at £1 all the way to St. Peter Port as opposed to around £15 for a taxi, bearing in mind a taxi will take you to your hotel. If you hire a car, remember you can't go fast, the streets are quite narrow and outside the capital the roads and lanes are only just passable for two vehicles!! (we noted numerous cars with scratches on the rear offside.)
We took several bus trips, Jerbourg on the S.E. corner, some nice walks from there,
Pembroke Bay on the N.W. corner, a delightful walk round a rugged coast with numerous WWII German emplacements still around, a nature reserve and a giant Millennium Stone set in part of the open golf course there. We also visited Cobo Bay and Vazon Bay, large open stretches of beach and clear water.
Traveling around the island it was a little sad to see the mainly now derelict greenhouses where once was grown the best Channel Islands tomatoes. The growers have been put out of business by foreign imports, the countries of which have been greatly subsidised to the Islands disadvantage.
Overall Guernsey was really nice relaxing Holiday.

We stayed 4 nights at the Duke of Richmond Hotel, celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. We had an Anniversary card delivered to our room that was signed by all the staff along with a small cake.

We did have a problem but this was resolved very quickly by the Restaurant Manager to our satisfaction.

The rooms were spotless.

We found all the staff were helpful and friendly and always helped with any requests, they are an example of excellent customer service and we have no hesitation in highly recommending the Duke of Richmond Hotel.

This is the first time that we have stayed in one of the Red Carnation group of hotels, and we hope to stay in one of their hotels in London soon.

Sadly we only stayed one night, but what a lovely hotel. My first comment is going to sound a bit negative:

The young girl on reception was just so bright and cheerful, but...... I guess she was working to order but we (5 of us booking in to 3 rooms) checked us in one room at a time, telling us all exactly the same thing: Breakfast times, even for Sunday although we are checking out on Saturday, about the wifi Etc Etc. She did this very politely and sincerely.

The staffs throughout the hotel are so nice they just can’t do enough for you. They ordered taxi’s for us, offered to turn the bed down, truly an endless list, all done so casually and with a smile.

The décor in this hotel is worth a look truly amazing and so much to see.
We stayed in room 113 a lovely room, very comfortable good size double bed, excellent hessian wallpaper. Love the attention to detail, even the remote control for the TV was in a plastic bag having been surgically cleaned!

We were on a business trip performing with our band at a local venue, so the hotel was paid for us, but I guess it’s not one of the cheapest hotels but this 5* is luxury.

We had breakfast this is as good as a breakfast could be 100% spot on. Once again fantastic staff.

Good location about a 15 minute walk to the harbour, but as it’s hilly we took the cab! Fully recommend this hotel with no hesitation.

My wife and I stayed t this hotel for 4 days.
On our arrival we were welcomed by the very pleasant staff, the room we stayed in was one of the superior rooms on the third floor, the room was spacious and very clean with views over St Peters Port. Our room was cleaned every day and our bed linen changed twice during this period and towels could be changed everyday if requested.
The food served at this hotel is very good you can even see it being prepared and cooked with service to match.
I would point out that the only draw backs are [1] parking is restricted at the hotel [2] To walk back from town you will encounter a steep climb. During our stay we were fortunate to find parking spaces, unlike England there are no parking charges and there are many 10 hour allowed parking. For those disabled drivers there are bays within the hotel area and in the town.

Would highly recommend this hotel.Staff and service excellent with little details that change a good holiday into a memorable holiday. Outdoor pool was a bonus and swam in September .
Is a steep walk down into town and you should consider this is you have walking difficulties
Resturant and food of a high quality , with specials each day on the board.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel, superb position close to St Peters Port, room had a sea view although wasn't the biggest in the world but more than adequate, bathroom etc superb, all staff were very helpful, breakfast very good although not sure about watching the chef sweating away in the kitchen! Icing on the cake was our first night when we returned to our room to find a chilled bottle of champagne together with a wonderfully decorated bed (see pictures), a superb touch! Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again in the future.

I've now stayed here twice and can highly recommend it. Very friendly and helpful staff, good food, and lovely rooms.

The thing that makes it is the decor, all the rooms decorated differently and in dramatic style, and the Leopard Bar is very cool and serves a good cocktail.

This hotel has much improved since being taken over by the Red Carnation Group. We last stayed here 7 years ago. We stayed in room 407 which is a junior suite on the top floor. Whilst the weather was good the view was fantastic. The other 3 junior suits had their own private terrace with sun loungers which would have been nice if the weather had stayed sunny over the bank holiday, note that these rooms do not get the view. Our room decor was very confused, pictures of elephants mixed with an art decco mirrior, fabric on the walls. The comfort level of the room was very good with a very comfy 4 poster bed. Loccitane toiletries in the bathroom and good quality towels and bath robes. However breakfast service was slow and portion size inconsistent. Some of the staff were excellent others not so. There idea to have the kitchen staff on full view via a glass wall is a strange thing for a hotel. The menu choices for lunch an dinner could be more suited to being on Guernsey and make use of more local produce and perhaps have some more choices rather than using a blackboard for so called specials which were things taken from the regular menu and tweaked.
