Exactly as described. Individual and full of character. Great breakfasts, decent rooms with big beds and a brilliant ambience throughout. A steep but short walk down to the harbour. Well worth a visit. The staff deserve a special mention as they were obliging and genuine. Even helped us to their other hotel, OGH, to where we chose to adjourn for a final night. Loved the parent company's love story too. Inspiringly written - this hotel group has a brilliant provenance. Book the Duke and enjoy your stay on this wonderful island.

We decided to have a few days away and chose the duke of Richmond hotel in Guernsey.
I have to say the hotel exceeded our expectations, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was large and tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable and large bed(a must for us)
We had evening meals 2 of the nights we stayed and enjoyed everything we ordered.
We travel to Guernsey at least 3 times a year and would defiantly choose the duke again!!

Booked through Bath Travel for a three day break, dinner was included for the first night. We had the choice of an excellent menu and we cannot fault the food or service. Also included was a cream tea and the scones were spot on.
Guernsey has many good restaurants but the prices are significantly more than on the mainland. As we enjoyed our "free" dinner at this hotel, we chose to eat there a second night - the bill slightly over the £100 mark but this included a glass of wine each and a liqueur coffee.
The owner has chosen a colour scheme of black and white with silver trimmings - not to everyone's taste.
The classic room was a tad small but very well fitted out although we would have preferred a larger bath and a better quality shower.
In all, we would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. That is, if you think Guernsey is worth a second visit...

5 stars as it was great. A good hotel, with my only niggle being room 102 being slightly small for the cost.

Breakfast was great, with mega salmon portion for the breakfast. The service is great, this is a five star boutique hotel.

Bar price for a beer not too expensive either.

Stayed here for a night while out on business in Guernsey. Its a nice little boutique hotel and the rooms are quite quirky in a pleasant way. Staff is very friendly and the bar/restaurant is fine for a drink or two. We enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory, the omelet was quite good. I would definitely stay here on my next stay in Guernsey.

Having just spent a weekend celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary we felt compelled to write our first ever review on Tripadvisor. The service received from the staff was fantastic from the personal welcome on arrival and every interaction thereafter. We were made to feel very special as we're all our guests. The rooms, the food, the decor we could not have stayed anywhere better!

We (my Husband and I) travelled with friends to stay in this boutique hotel for 3nights (10-12th April). Our friends decided to stay in the Duke of Richmond (DoR), Guernsey, having walked past its front doors last year and caught a glimpse of the highly decorative entrance lobby and reception! We were all able to use the recent '3 nights for the price of 2' bed & breakfast offer, they upgraded to a suite, and we to the King room with sea view. From the moment we first arrived to the moment we left, we were in no doubt as to the importance of the Guest's experience to all of the staff. The location is great, only a 5-10minute walk (downhill) into the Town, if you like public gardens walk through Candie Gardens, located just behind the hotel and en-route. The Hotels outdoor pool isn't open until May, but looks good. You can get lovely sea & Island views from the Terrace and some rooms. The food- we ate breakfast and an evening meal was fantastic! Plentiful, well presented & prepared, and tasty! The bed -Wow!! Gorgeous, inviting, soft yet supportive, the linen was lovely, it was like snuggling into a lovely soft marshmallow at the end of every day!
If the DoR, one of the Red Carnation Group, can get it this right there should be no reason why others should not at least strive for it. (I realise that price is a factor in standard of decor and levels of comfort, etc., but not customer service.). Our room had 2 bottles of water each day, but as we don't like sparkling water we asked at Reception for it to be swapped for still. We did this on 2 occasions, and, returning from our evening meal the change had been made. On the 3rd day there was no need to ask-2 bottles of still had been provided. Attention to detail, like this, as well as the decor is evident throughout the spotlessly clean hotel. Sam, the Barman, is a star, really knows his stuff, and is happy to chat. If you like 'After Eight' mints let him talk you into a cocktail. Alex, the newer member of bar staff, will I am sure become a legend in his own right. Olga, in the Restaurant, was wonderful, an obvious asset to the DoR team. And Katherine from the Restaurant, a lovely young lady starting out in life. Andre, also from the Restaurant, put his customers first (Mr.Jackson (snr) loved his spin of the 'wheel'!). Just because I mention a few names here please do not think the other staff members don't deserve an mention, they do.
The Hotel has very limited parking directly outside, but Reception staff assist where they can suggesting alternatives. We are not wealthy people, but endulging for a few days in the luxury of this Hotel was worth it, and we have no doubt we'll return.

Stayed here from 1st to 4th April 2015. From the moment I walked in the door I loved it and was very impressed. This is a 4 star boutique hotel. Service is absolutely first class nothing was too much trouble. we had a meal in the restaurant and this was very good. service in the restaurant was excellent. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and very very clean I don't think I have stayed anywhere so clean! All in all this is very recommended. Dogs are allowed to stay in this Hotel too. Quite close to the town it is in a good location for visiting the town. It is also right next to Candie Gardens

Just had an amazing 3 night stay at the lovely Duke of Richmond!
The hotel has everything you need from excellent food, drinks, lounges and beautifully 5* decorated rooms. But for me the best thing is their special secret....their staff. Anything you need is no trouble at all, seamless service, amazing attention to detail, professional and friendly. The Manager Lucas and his entire team were GREAT! Very sad to leave today but we will be back in eh summer.

Nice room, good breakfast with lovely selection, good location and great view out to sea.

Downside would be that allowing pets in some rooms meant a yapping dog woke us up a bit, but a couple of niggles like only getting one free bottle of water in the room. But overall very nice.

Because of a ferry accident, we found our day trip to Guernsey had unexpectedly been extended by a day and a half. A shop owner recommended the Duke of Richmond Hotel to us, and we are very glad they did. The rooms were comfortable, and the restaurant was quite good. But more than that, Lauren and the other staff members really went out of their way to help us. Toothbrushes, loaned phone chargers...and she even shifted around room assignments so that we could have a very late checkout as our rescheduled ferry wasn't until late the following evening. The hotel is accommodating of pets, which was key for a number of other stranded travelers, and the staff was most helpful to them as well. The hotel is in a lovely quiet location, very close to the gardens, and just a short walk from the center of town.

From the moment we arrived we have experienced amazing service. The staff are obviously choosen to actually please the guests. Lauren (reception manager) went out of her way to assist us when our ferry was cancelled a couple of times. When we eventually got here we and our dogs were made very welcome. This hotel is super dog friendly. On our bed was a pack for the dogs which I have added in a photo. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was outstanding. The bar staff were chatty and friendly. Again amazing service. Our room is large and has everything we might need. You would never guess this is a pet friendly room. Immaculately clean. There is a park across the road to walk the dogs and Candie Gardens are 2 minutes away. The personal touches are many. I noticed yesterday there was hot chocolate in reception for you to help yourself. We have two more nights here and so far I don't have a negative thing to say about the Dukeof Richmond. We will be back again.

I came to the Duke of Richmond last year for my birthday. Upon checking in, the concierge and the staff were all very friendly and approachable. The downstairs gaming room/ lounge was very comfortable and accompanied with nice decoration.

I stayed in the penthouse suite at the top of the hotel with stunning views of Guernsey and of the outdoor swimming pool. The penthouse room was very comfortable and spacious with a luxurious bathroom.

The food was delicious at the restaurant and the waiter and waitress staff were very kind as to make me a birthday cake and give me a card which was very thoughtful.
The rest of the hotel was very nice, comfortable and everybody was kind. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody going to Guernsey. Enjoy!

We have just experienced a terrific evening at the Duke of Richmond - Cocktail Masterclass followed by Dinner.
8 of us went to celebrate a friend’s Birthday and it couldn’t have gone better.
Orlando and his staff spoiled us rotten and the Bartender guided each of us with the Cocktail of our Choice….
which we were forced to drink - no arguments there.
It’s a fun evening and I can highly recommend it for a Special Night Out. The food, as always, excellent.

My stay was a last minute choice due to condor ferry crashing and having transport over to Jersey. Upon arrival all staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel accommodated for my labrador by providing a dog bed/bowl and even food. I don't know what I would of done without all the help. The receptionist Lauren went above and beyond duty throughout my stay and was made to feel right at home.

We have just thoroughly enjoyed a few days in the Duke of Richmond in Guernsey during which we took the opportunity to dine at the other and nearby Red Carnation hotel, the Old Government House.
We were totally impressed by both hotels and, now that we are aware of their other hotels and activities around the world, we will begin future vacation searches by starting with the Red Carnation website.
We were delighted by the quality of all aspects of our stay and by the very clear commitment of all members of staff to the provision of excellent customer service.
I congratulate Red Carnation on achieving such a great sense of loyalty and pride in their employees. It was most refreshing and enjoyable to witness this
Nothing was too much trouble and when we had early morning flight problems, the D of Y welcomed us back for a late checkout and breakfast which saved us from sitting in an uncomfortable airport coffee bar for 10 hours..
Will we return?
Yes and soon

I have just returned from my first visit trip to the Channel Islands where I stayed at the Duke of Richmond hotel in St Peters Port in Guernsey. Upon arrival I was greeted by Rachel on reception who informed me that I had been upgraded to a suite for my stay. There was a private function going on that evening with a lot of people around.Aaron showed me to my room and took me through the switches etc.I would see Aaron on several occasions during my stay as he arranged taxis for me and ensured that everything was meeting my expectations.Aftet settling into my suite I went down to the bar area were I was greeted by Lukas who advised me of things to do on the island and the best places to eat. After my initial meeting with these three members of staff I would always be greeted by name when I saw them. The following morning I went down for breakfast where I was greeted by Olga. Olga would ensure that I had a good breakfast and that everything was going well with my staff.Olga also took the time to ask whether the private function had been too noisy the night before. All these little touches made for an excellent stay.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as their standards and attention to detail is second to none.Keep up the excellent work.

I have stayed at The Duke of Richmond twice now, and both times it has exceeded my expectations. On an Island where service does not always seem to be high on the agenda, it was refreshing to see a team go the extra mile to make your experience the one you hope for from a 4 star hotel. Thank you.

I love this hotel! Great for a meal with family and friends, great to pop in for a drink and an excellent choice for large functions. I have organised several large functions here, the latest being a charity afternoon tea for 180 people - wonderful afternoon tea and excellent service once again. Thank you

The DoR hotel is a 4 star hotel situated in the main area of Guernsey St Peter Port. The best feature is the restaurant. The food is very nice and well presented. The room we had was a bit disappointing. It was extremely small feeling very much like the hotels you experience in somewhere like London. Definitely maximising available space. Nice bright room for breakfast also enhanced the experience. Overall a nice hotel, quite expensive small room but an enjoyable restaurant.

Stayed here with my husband and absolutely loved it. Room was very clean and bed very comfy. Shower worked really well in a spotless bathroom. Given complimentary water on first day would have been nice to have every day. Notice saying you can order free semi skimmed milk for tea or coffee - I usually do this anyway but it was so nice to be given permission to avoid the horrid UHT milk.
Red carnations are a common theme around the hotel with one in the bathroom and on the dining tables.
Staff are excellent, always polite and friendly. Quite happy to dry my soaking wet clothes after a particularly rainy day
On our last day we had 1/2 hour wait in the hotel for our taxi. The lovely concierge offered us a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top with a cookie and a flake. This was very welcoming on a chilly day.
Breakfast was delicious as well with a very good choice. Including home made muesli, haddock, kippers and the usual cooked.
We would definitely stay here again if we return to Guernsey.

I contacted Duke of Richmond to see if they would cater for Vegans and they were very accommodating. Making not only vegan scones but also a selection of vegan cakes. A very satisfying afternoon out. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The Leopard Bar has a fun bright feel and the value for money was very good.

We stayed in the hotel for my husband's surprise birthday treat and it was perfect! It was a very last minute thought so I phoned the hotel to see how much it would be and Aaron on the phone was exceptionally helpful. He advised me on the best deal, helped me pick a room to match my husband's favourite colour, arranged for a cocktail making class and dinner, and even added a complementary birthday cake and a lovely basket of goodies! And just to top it up, because we had our dinner on Sunday evening, we got to spin a wheel of various treats and won an afternoon tea!
Exceptional service, amazing food and all together a wonderful experience. Money well spend! Definitely will be coming back.
