Stayed here for a 1 night business trip in May.

The hotel was very clean, modern refurbishment, excellent breakfast, very friendly staff and even a free drink at the bar! Very good stay.

Location is slightly out of the main town however the seafront is only a 5/10 min walk away.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights during April. It was a lovely experience in a spotlessly clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Thanks particularly to Gwyn who gave us a lot of information about the area and was generally very helpful and friendly. The room we stayed in was elegant and comfortable. We had one small concern which was dealt with promptly and within half an hour we were presented in our room with a bottle of wine and a platter of fresh fruit. This was 5 star service. Again, thank you Gwyn for being so professional. Breakfast was excellent with first class service. We will certainly book this hotel again when we next visit Guermsey and have recommended it to our friends and family.

We chose the DOR to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday. We only stayed for two nights but could not have chosen a better place. From Gwyn the concierge and all the staff who gave excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given the choice of an upgrade and were shown some lovely rooms but my wife prefered the one we had booked. Although the room was small it was spotless and we had a loveley view of the harbour and sea. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable, two bottles of water were also provided. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner was also excellent. A choice of dining in the light and airy conservatory or watching our meals being prepared and cooked in the show kitchen. We liked the location of the DOR as it was in a loveley quiet spot,a 10 minute walk downhill to the front. The staff at this hotel could not have been more friendly or helpful. Hoping to return in the near future for a longer stay

Where do i start!

The place is lovely, the rooms are finished to a very high standard and the staff couldn't do more to help. Also their local knowledge was very helpful then it came to planning my days.

I would also have to add the food was very well priced and tastes amazing, and i would definatly eat there if i was a local.

One of the perticualr high lights was their afternoon teas, i have never seen such a selection of tea.

I am very tempted to go back.

I've stayed at a few hotels in Guernsey over the years, but my recent stay at The Duke Of Richmond was fantastic! Although the weather wasn't what we'd hoped for, the hotel was first class! The room was more full of character and the bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect to enjoy what Guernsey has to offer. The staff were everything you would expect from somewhere like 'the Savoy'. They were very helpful and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable, in particular, the receptionist and a manager, called Gywnn. We will definitely be back again...but think we'll wait till the weather is warmer! Thanks again :) James

Staying at the Duke of Richmond was an absolute pleasure. From the arrival to departure the staff were totally attentive without being overbearing.
The room was spectacular and the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever had the pleasure to sleep in. Attention to detail of the decoration was A++++, right down to red rose in the bathroom.
Heating controls in the room we unbelievably effective and easy to use. The decor of the halls and receptions is magnificent.

The restaurant was perfect and staff very friendly and helpful, the food I was recommended to have was of the very highest quality.

This Hotel comes with the highest recommendation, furthermore would be a fantastic Hotel choice for an event or wedding

Superb greeting, service throughout, food, value for money on the Sunday lunch, setting ..... we could not fault it - very good. The offer was three course for £18.50 but the portions were very generous so we only managed two courses.

We only stayed the one night but thouroughly enjoyed it. The bedroom was fab with such a comfortable bed plus lovely views from the balcony. We dined in the restaurant and chose seafood starters and mains from the specials board, and all the dishes were excellent. Service was spot on in all departments.

We travel a lot but have never been compelled to write a review, until now. We hosted a celebration in the ballroom at the Duke of Richmond on Saturday, with many visiting family and friends also staying at the hotel for the weekend. From the time of our first enquiry until the last guest departed the total experience was great. No request or question was too difficult, the staff, facilities, food and overall ambiance simply perfect. Well recommended, whether for a large function, meal, holiday or simply their afternoon tea!

Just back after a couple of nights at the Duke of Richmond - it is lovely - the room was very well appointed and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. The food and service were excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful but must single out Pauline of Reception who went out of her way to be helpful and addressing guests by their name - making everyone feel as though she was taking an interest in them personally. Will certainly recommend and would love to return.

My husband as a surprise for my birthday and wedding anniversary booked this hotel for a long weekend, we were impressed on our arrival on the attention to detail afforded not only to us but to our lovable pet dog Ebony. The room was fantastic, decor beautiful, . We ate in the restaurant on our first night there, and the quality of service, and the above excellent food was of such a high standard that we ate there for the duration of our stay and could find no fault with anything. I would also like to say that the Hotel Manager Lukas Laubscher and all of his staff went over and above the call of duty to make this stay the most enjoyable we have ever had.We have no hesitation in recommending this home from home hotel to anybody with our without well behaved pets. We are already planning our return trip in August

I can honestly say I've never seen a hotel with more mirrors or mirrored surfaces than the Duke of Richmond !
It's a good job that the place is spotlessly clean ... not a sticky fingerprint or a speck of dust to be seen anywhere !
Although the decor is sumptuous and of good quality , some might feel it has just a little too much 'bling'!
Our room was sumptuous and comfortable with a lovely contemporary bathroom which looked as though it had never been used before.
Staff are exceptionally smart and professional and fall over themselves to help guests.
Breakfast was bountiful and delicious and served with efficiency and a smile.
I would most definitely return to the Duke of Richmond.

Just had an overnight stay package New Years Eve. When you arrive at the hotel your made to feel so welcome the staff can't do enough for you. Room was spotlessly clean. Room was very large with the most amazing bed must be an emperor size! Very comfortable. Deco was lovely. Room was nice and quite over looking outside eating area. Bathroom smellies were nice. Bath towel was on the small side though. The New Years eve evening itself was fantastic the band were brilliant and had everyone dancing all night. The food a starter of cajun fish and meats main (we had the steak) was really good. staff were around the whole evening looking after us. A great start to 2013.

My partner and I have just got back from an overnight stay in this fantastic hotel
we booked a special news years eve dinner dance, overnight stay and breakfast. We at present live and work here but wanted to do something special and it certainly was. Firstly we were upgraded to a sea view room with window seat overlooking Sark, the room was stunning and attention to detail incredible. All the staff from the porter- lovely Irish chap, the receptionist- yorkshire lass, maitre- French, waitors- Spanish, Portuguese were friendly, helpful and even after a late long night working, greeted us for breakfast cheerfully. The food was superb, plenty of it and excellent quality considering the numbers catered for, the restaurant decorated beautifully, great band, a fantastic night, best new years eve ever!! we met some lovely people too. Breakfast was wonderful and we were told not to rush out of our fantastic room.
Cant praise the Hotel, staff and facilities enough. The Duke of Richmond should be very proud of what it has created on Guernsey and I would recommend it to anyone, we will be back again and again. It has a 4 star rating with a 5 star delivery in all aspects.

I spent 3 nights a week on business in Guernsey for 6 months from June to December 2012. I had the option of staying at any hotel on the island, and having checked out the competition, found myself always returning to the Duke. The reasons are simple: 1) It has the most attentive and polite staff of any hotel I stayed at - Olga and Carina do sterling work in the restaurant whilst Orlando runs the bar with great charm and enthusiasm. And the staff on reception were always tremendously friendly and helpful. 2) the rooms are nicely done up, but most importantly clean and very comfortable - so comfortable that I have been forced to contemplate buying a better bed and mattress at home. 3) Some of the top end competition on the island regard themselves as a cut above everyone else, and there is a definite arrogance that pervades the place. You don't get this feeling with the Duke. A very friend, clean and comfortable place to stay. I hope to be back soon!

We stayed for one night in November and would have stayed longer if they'd had availability. They are updating lots of rooms and this had affected the number of rooms available but we stayed in a newly refurbished room and it was lovely. Very comfortable bed, good size tv, stunning bathroom and best of all the wifi was free and really worked at a fast speed. There were a few design issues (such as you couldn't really see in the mirror whilst using the hairdryer!) but we pointed these out to reception as we left so hopefully they've been rectified now.

We ate in the Restaurant too and the food was fine and service exceptional. The breakfast was as good as any top hotel we've stayed in too. We will return.

We visited Guernsey last weekend and stayed over one night at the Duke of Richmond. Before booking we were trying to decide between the OGH and the Duke of Richmond (both Red Carnation Hotels) and selected the Duke on the recommendation of our son who had dined there. We travel extensively in different parts of the world but the service we received here was outstanding and probably one of the best anywhere. All the staff were so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed drinks in the uniquely decorated Leopard Bar followed by an excellent dinner in the Leopard Restaurant. We really wished we had booked two nights.

We had a standard room which was a little small but very comfortable with good quality toiletries in the well-appointed bathroom.

Free wifi was very much appreciated and more hotels need to offer this as these days most people travel with an iPad or laptop.

There is a lovely outdoor patio next to the breakfast area which would be a wonderful place to sit out and enjoy drinks and meals in the summer.

We visit Guernsey regularly to see our son and his family and will definitely return to stay at the Duke next time. We also plan to check out some of the Red Carnation hotels in other locations.

We had a dinner in the Leopard Restaurant.
The location is nice, the inside is mostly open space and it looks good and clean.
The personnel is friendly, helpful and attentive. We've had a good red wine and also they have a big wine list.
I've had a generous Caesar Salad like starter and for main course i`ve ordered Rib eye steak with blue cheese sauce and mashed potatoe, that was very delicious.
This place is great if you want a nice tasty dinner with friends - I'll definitely come back.

Just a short three night break with the wife. Wanted a quiet relaxing time and that's what we received. The room was great, service was great and hotel standards really high. Thanks for a good time.
We took dinner in the hotel restaurant two of the nights and had great meals and service to the highest standards. We would recommend this hotel.

The Duke of Richmond just got a well deserved 8.3/10 review in the Times. I stayed for a couple of days this week and whilst I can't comment on the refurbishment having not seen it before the makeover, I can comment on the service...which was excellent from the front desk, bar and restaurant. They couldn't do enough to help. Good job!

Have stayed here twice now since it has been refurbished and I have to say the hotel is lovely.
Staff are excellent and very friendly but can be a bit eager at times. This is no bad thing, as I'd prefer staff to acknowledge rather than ignore!

Rooms are bright, spacious and enjoy all the mod cons and a whole lot more. The chocolates at night time are a nice touch.

The food is excellent in the Leopard bar, especially the Rotisserie chicken.

We have stayed in Guernsey many times the purpose of our visit is to see an aunt who lives in St Peter Port - we have never stayed at The Duke of Richmond. After making our booking we read with interest all the positive comments of other reviews and were really looking forward to our stay we were definitely not disappointed this hotel exceeded expectations thats why we are at a loss to now read a previous comment "Leopards Bar" as it certainly does not portray the hotel management and staff in the right image.

We stayed for 6 nights our room was a standard one small but very comfortable both bedroom and bathroom were very clean we appreciated houskeeping returning in the evening to turn down the bed clean the bathroom leave us fresh towels and the occasional chocolate on our pillow ( so many nice touches throughout our stay).

We new the hotel had been refurbishment and it really looks good but for us the staff made our stay memorable everyone we came into contact with was so pleasant and polite always smiled and were always helpful nothing at all was any trouble. Dining in the restaurant was a lovely experience both for breakfast (so much choice and beautifully cooked) and dinner the food was excellent and very well presented. The staff new their product and in the bar had a good knowledge of the drinks available.

We are already looking forward to our next visit to Guernsey and our second stay at The Duke of Richmond. Thank you for looking after us so well.
