If you visit Jersey and you love fish do not miss this restaurant. The food is fabulous. I would suggest you book in advance. My husband and dined at this restaurant on a Wednesday and I was glad we booked as it was very busy. A+++++

To be honest the food was great - I couldn't fault it. We had the lobster of the day and it was very well cooked and the service was excellent. Alas, this is one restaurant which we will not be returning to. The reason is that the noise from the other diners was incredibly loud and we couldn't hear ourselves think. The ill-thought out decision to place all the diners in the same part of the restaurant was awful. A table of some 10 or so people shouting at the top of their voices was most off putting. I think they should have placed people farther apart - we couldn't get out quick enough!

With the old management back as the new owners the Bass & Lobster is back to being the best food in Gorey & that is a tough job as some of the islands best restaurants are in this area.
We were regular diners for years until the original management left then the restaurant went down hill but on hearing Anna was back we have been twice in the last couple of weeks. It's food is fantastic & staff very pleasant. We could see the restaurant is getting busier already so book ahead.

We ate here twice during our stay in Jersey.
Both times the food was delicious. Well presented and generous portions. We chose from the set menu which you could choose two courses. Excellent value for money, top notch food.
The service is excellent, a new venture for Anna, who was also working her notice at our hotel. The ambience is lovely. Good luck. You must visit.

The restaurant I think is trying to be in a class that it can't be. Definitely "Two peas in a pod" style ... Waitress recommended we had extra veg as the "normal" serving was not enough!
Items advertised and not available too ... This might suit some folk but its not for us!

We had Sunday lunch at the Bass and Lobster and we both had a great meal.
I had the special which was a selection of fish and vegetables - delicious! My partner had a pork dish that he enjoyed.A small friendly restaurant with attentive staff - I would definitely recommend.

Had a great meal, absolutely delicious! Good atmosphere & really friendly staff. The scallops were divine :) but plenty of choice for both seafood & steak. Just to mention the gazpacho was superb. Really worth a visit.

This outing was courtesy of a voucher. The dining areas were quite cosy and welcoming. The meals we ordered were good and well presented. The service was slow because they were light on chefs that evening. (we were told) The food was really nice and I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff were nice and worked very hard. All in all, a pleasant experience.

I had a meal at The Bass & Lobster on Saturday the 26th of March and was sadly disappointed we arrived 20 mins earlier than our table was booked for and was happy to stand at the bar and wait for our table with in 5 mins of standing we were seated at our table. we were happy by this point we looked over the menu that has not changed since opening and even changing hands we in its self is a bit disappointing. we proceeded in ordering our food then had to wait almost 45 mins for our starters which seemed like an awfully long time, they arrived and were lovely but again there is no real flair in the food. we finished our starters and they were cleared away and then there was another long wait for our mains almost an hour. when we order our mains two member of our group wanted fillet steak and we were told there was two left which was fine with us, sadly when they arrived one was meant to be medium rare and came out medium and the other was meant to medium and looked like a burger more than a fillet steak, when you are being charged almost £25 for a steak you do expect a good standard. they tried to make us feel better by taking £ pounds of the steak and giving us a free drink which we ere not told what it was it was just placed in front of us. All in all it was very sad and I don't think I will be returning as it was one of my favourite places to eat but not anymore. Sorry Bass & Lobster but I have to be honest.

The Bass and Lobster has developed a strong reputation for its brasserie type dining amongst its large local clientele. There are several really good restaurants in the area and the B&L competes well at all levels - cuisine, service and price.
There are both a la carte and table d'hôte menus to satisfy all palates and all pockets. Our last visit was as part of a group when when both dinner and service were entirely satisfactory - service is always a test when in a group. There is a reasonably but adequate wine list with the Don David always proving to be a popular choice.
Always an enjoyable experience - add it to your list of places to eat in Jersey

We stayed in jersey for a couple of days earlier this month.
We had driven past this place a couple of times and it was shut (Mondays), But we got in for lunch on Tuesday.
What a beautiful place. The dining room looks like a big French kitchen. it has wood floors and really nice amount of space between tables.
It has a lovely bar area and a kitchen you can see into as they cook.
we were greeted by a really friendly staff who made a real effort. Our waiter didn't just take a large glass of red without wanting to know what kind of red I liked discussed the strength and where I wanted the wine to come from. Went for the Malbec which I can recommend to you, served in high quality spotless glasses.
For my lunch I had scallops on a bed of truffle infused risotto with a garlic aioli. Absolutely beautiful.
That dish cost about £15.00 which was good but considering I got eight really great juicy scallops instead of the three or four I would have got in my home area, it was a steal.
When coming outside a across the road there is the most beautiful beach, and view of the castle across the bay.
If you are staying in St Helier as we were there is the no. 1 bus, that goes right past the restaurant, great if you want to have a beer and not drive and the bus route is beautiful up the coast road.
Couldn't find anything negative to say about the place except they shut at 2.30, although they are probably open more in season.
If you go to Jersey go here.

We used to really rate the Bass and Lobster but felt it lost its way. New management took over last August and this was the first time we had been back since. It has regained all its previous good points, friendly service, a really nice atmosphere, good food and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The restaurant was buzzing with happy diners.
We had the set menu with a few choices from the A La Carte. I started with the Tempura prawns and squid that was delicious and followed it with the fish and chips - the chips were chunky and delicious but I probably overdosed on tempura having it for two courses. My wife had the mackerel pate as a starter followed by the Brill with risotto and was delighted with both her choices. My son went for the burger off the A La Carte menu and it was probably the best looking burger I've seen, stacked with bacon, egg etc and accompanied by a big bowl of chips and onion rings.
The table next to us went for the 'Posh' fish and chip off the A La Carte and it looked stunning and a really generous portion - that's my choice next time.I like the fact that you can order wine by the glass so various people can have their personal choice of red, rose or white and the wine was decent in large glasses.
I am very pleased that the Bass and Lobster has regained the charm it had when it first opened and we are indeed fortunate that it is a short walk from where we live so it will be on our list of regulars!Recommended and with its re-found glory, a great addition to the Gorey eating scene.

We went as a group of friends last week for a meal. The owner was very friendly, although it was not a busy night and I imagine more atmosphere on a busy night. Ordered tuna sashimi and it was delicious. The burger was the star, juicy and delicious. All agreed we'd go back.

Great restaurant. Fantastic atmosphere. A real buzz through out the evening. As soon as we walked in there was a feeling that everyone was having a really good time.
We had an amazing meal. We shared a tasting platter as a starter & every mouthful was just Devine & a great way to sample an array of the different starters.
We all had the bass & lobster for the main course which was absolutely scrumptious. As we were so full we all had a really light, sharp lemon sorbet for desert. It was perfect.
This was one of the most delicious & flavoursome meals I've had. The staff were all so friendly & made our evening special.

All four of us opted for the set menu.
The mackerel pate platter was excellent as was the antipasto. For main we chose two of the slow cooked lamb, and two of their take on fish and chips.
All well cooked and presented, and with good waiting staff.
The Bass and Lobster has never let us down yet.

Lovely lunch in this great restaurant, food is always perfect, hot and the service is very good. Lovely menu, and great value, especially when they sell their vouchers for £27 for a 3 course lunch or dinner for 2. Well done Anna and your brilliant team.

Ate at the Bass and Lobster last night as a large family group of 14 including 7 children. Hadn't been for a while and had forgotten how good the food was. Service also very good. Very busy for a cold wet January evening which speaks for itself.

The quality of the food and cooking cannot be faulted at this venue but what a shame there aren't quite enough chips or veg to make it feel like a complete meal. I am not a large person but I did go home feeling a little peckish despite three courses. Is it too much to ask to include a proper portion of veg and a few more chips with what is otherwise an excellently prepared dish. I drank my gravy which was provided in a lovely little cup, it was so delicious. I personally prefer my food on a plate. Great staff and overall a very good evening.

We were a party of 12 on 30 Dec and staff coped well with our numbers and moderate number of other diners; good service, (male) waiters need to learn to smile more though! Food choices were reasonable, prices compare well, just a shame that my lovely medium rare steak, presented on a slate (if you like that!) had adequate chips but spinach was hidden underneath! That was the veg! Others in our party felt the same with their choices. You feel a little cheated.
