We went on a JT Rewards voucher. We live in the West, if you don't live in Jersey you won't appreciate the significance but there are so many good restaurants in Jersey you don't need travel from one end to the other. Again if you don't live in Jersey a seven mile drive will seem nothing, but the fact we will definitely make the journey again is relevant to Jersey residents. So to the review. The food and service was impressively good hence the rating. We have eaten here before but had we not had the vouchers we wouldn't have visited on this occasion. We had a variety of dishes and all four people gave them the thumbs up. See the menu on line. The fish pie, the gnocchi, the beef bourgogne were tested and found to be good, the anti-pasta and also the mushroom starters were well received. We saw other dishes leaving the kitchen and yes we wanted them all! The food was cooked well, there were good sized portions and as I say the front of house were excellent. We had to tell the staff they had missed a bottle of wine off the bill but these things happen. Overall excellent and worth the drive!

Great deal with the JT rewards online.
The young staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the 3 course meal deal was exceptional value. Starters were beautifully presented, the beef bourgignon melted in the mouth, and the salted caramel brownie was brilliant. Nice ambience, no piped muzak, nice clean toilets- what's not to like?

My friend and I went for a Tennerfest evening meal. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The staff were very attentive and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely and relaxing. We chose the Tennerfest menu which offered some very good choices for a set menu, even though we could have had the A la carte. The food was amazing and we weren't rushed, so able to have a break before dessert. A very enjoyable evening.

The food and service was excellent. Two of us had the lamb which melted in the mouth, the third member of our party had the fish which was delicious. Spoilt for choice with regards to the desserts. Well done to the chef!! Great value for money and the food was really special well worth a visit can't recommend highly enough. The staff made the visit most enjoyable making us feel very welcome. Will be dining there again for sure.

Four of us had the Tennerfest menu tonight - food was excellent - totally clear plates from us all. I had the pate to start and the lamb for main - gorgeous. Very nice staff. Would definitely recommend the Bass & Lobster!

Four of us had lunch on a Friday, and we were very surprised at how quiet it was, however it is near Gorey and parking is not easy.
Very pleasant staff with nicely presented food which had great depth of flavour. The tennerfest menu was interesting but we chose the sharing plate and then fish/chips tempura seafood and burgers, which are huge.
Very tasty, but the only negative with the burger, is that the bacon whilst it may be local I think, not sure, it was very tough, but not enough to spoil a very pleasant dining experience

Ventured to the far side of the Island for lunch. Had not been to this place for years but its reputation preceeded it. Warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Drinks brought very quickly. Good choices on the Tennerfest menu. I had the mushroom to start. Very nice, only slight criticism, could have been warmer and the plate was cold. The main course of slow cooked belly pork was outstanding. Both my son and I commented on the wonderful apple puree which really added to the whole meal.. I am afraid we were so full we had to pass on the desserts ( not used to eating much at lunchtime) . It certainly lived up to the good name and reputation. we will be back!

Really great food all around, tasted loads on the menu and was happy with everything. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Gorey Pier. The only thing (maybe) worth noting is I went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was super empty. If lack of a lively environment means nothing then I highly recommend. Easy bus stop about a 2 min walk away so you don't have to trek back to the pier to get the bus back to St. Helier.

It was our first visit here and it was one of the best meals we have had in Jersey. The servers were attentive, helpful and happy. The selection of food was great and I had a mixed platter to start which had a bit of everything on there and it was outstanding. Both my wife and I had one of the specials which was an aged steak, medium rare. It came with home made chips, (huge, loved them) and was perfectly cooked, tender and was awesome.
It was a treat for us and the bill was towards the upper end but that did not matter one bit, because we thought the value for the service and the food was brilliant. Can't wait to go again!

My wife and I visited The Bass and Lobster last night for a rare date night and were glad we chose this venue. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent with prompt response that never felt intrusive. The food, we both had items from the specials board (I had the fillet steak whilst my wife had the lobster) was excellent. The restaurant itself was busy but the atmosphere was relaxed and a very pleasant experience was had.
Although we live in Jersey this was our first visit, it will not however be our last.

Went recently for a family 'get together'. Everyone happy with the good food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Now established as a firm favourite.

This is a real gem. We had such a lovely meal we returned for our last evening. The staff are lovely and very helpful and the food and wine excellent.
My only suggestion would be that it is hard to find if you don't know the area. Better directions would be helpful. We spent half an hour trying to find it. This could lose bookings.

Lovely food, great wine and friendly service - The half lobster was really tasty as was the burger. Nice big portions mostly although £12 for 2 scallops was a bit overpriced... Disappointing dessert menu but overall it was a nice relaxing meal.

The restaurant has a nice ambience and the seafood is good. I found the staff fairly unfriendly though and the service fairly slow. There are better restaurants on Jersey.

The staff were very welcoming. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was great, beautifully cooked and very tasty. I had gazpacho soup to start with it was delicious. Excellent value for money. Worth a visit.

Have been there twice in the past month and both times somewhat of a deserted restaurant. What struck me today though were the dirty stained menus. I would have left but drinks had been ordered. The food - a burger and a posh fish excellent. Given my experiences this restaurant needs a shake up or it is doomed. The chef would not have a problem getting a job elsewhere though!

Despite having lived close by for almost all my life I had never eaten at The Bass and Lobster before.
Situated a pleasant walk away from the main drag of Gorey the restaurant is extremely tastefully decorated inside and has a pleasant, 'local-friendly' atmosphere. There are no gimmicks to impress tasteless tourists, no staff uniforms that give the unwanted impression of a chain, and no ear-splittingly loud Italian espresso machine scything its way through the ambiance like a Harrier Jet about to take off. Instead what you get is a great meal at a great price.
Food. The pesto minestrone soup I began with was a welcome revelation to a usually bland starter. Easily the best minestrone I've ever had. My girlfriend's foie gras and chicken liver parfait was smoother than a tiger's back. In other words, an excellent start.
The mains were both good - but unfortunately didn't cross the line into superb. I had fish and chips. The fish was delicate and tasted fresh, the batter crisp without being hard. My only issue, and what prevents the restaurant from receiving a 5 star review is the ludicrously sized chips which are more like bookmarks than fries. In my opinion chips/fries have a critical mass point, a size beyond which they begin to remind one of under-seasoned roast potatoes. The novelty of massive chips wears off rather rapidly once one starts filling up on everything else. My girlfriend's main, a slow-cooked boneless rib with the tantalizing 'Voudou Slaw' was incredible.
As I struggle with dairy I'm not much of a dessert person. My sticky toffee pudding was great and I'd happily go back for another. The cheesecake was also excellent, its freshness and uniqueness (salted popcorn flavour) making it stand out from the crowd.
In sum, I really like this place and would love to have given five stars. However the hulking chips, whilst initially entertaining did rather spoil an otherwise delicious and great value meal.
I will definitely be back in the future.

Visited for lunch with family on 23rd May. Wife and I both had set menu (3 course for £26) - good choice and both really enjoyed what we had - really well cooked. Kids menu was refreshing as steered clear of fast food style choices and also gave option to have half portion of adult menu. Would definitely recommend.

Visited the restaurant on the 16th of May having booked a table for 9 p.m. through the hotel we stayed at. Upon arrival our table wasnt ready as the previous diners had turned up late. We were offerred a complimentary bottle of wine and breads to keep us going! Eventually the staff set us up another table, but the food was worth the wait!!
