We visited this restaurant a couple of years ago and enjoyed so much we rebooked for our return trip to jersey. My niece said it was the best fillet steak she had tasted. I had the scallops with risotto delicious. The service was excellent. The food was well presented and served hot. I will book again when next visiting Jersey

Popped down to the Bass and Lobster for lunch in picturesque Gorey. Hadn't been for a while. it was full inside (Thursday so a good sign) so sat outside which suited us as the sun was shining at times and it was warm. There was a set menu of 2 courses for £16-50 or 3 courses for £19-50. Small but excellent 4 or 5 course choice for starters and mains. We liked just about everything. In the end we went for Spanish Steak burger which was served with chorizo and crispy onions and fat chips. Superb and very filling. My wife had the fish platter which looked wonderful and tasted even better. Oysters, fresh local crab, smoked salmon, prawns, and salad. Nice glass of rose wine to wash it all down. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy quality food.

Food was excellent, Staff were polite and atmosphere was great. This restaurant is also in a good position with the beach being across the road.

Food was extremely good, though pricey for portion sizes, three of us had different choices but came to the same conclusion
The big let down was front of house staff, quite offhand and impatient, towards the end of my main course, my two friends having finished, the waitress had cleared their dishes, which in itself is quite rude while I was eating ... She then hovered around waiting for me to finish, even looking at her watch! She may have been on a promise, but it was only just after lunch and it meant no tip whatsoever from all three of us.Won't be back there any time soon.

Food seemed very fresh. The setting is simple but nicely done, service was cheerful and fine. The menu is quite short but eclectic. Seafood is a good choice and not super expensive. They did not have much for young children but we managed OK.

We used eat here every year when we came on holiday. We didn't bother last year as we thought it overpriced for the portion size & service was poor. We decided to give it another go this year & were pleasantly surprised; that said, we were told the chef was off sick & it was the 2nd in command in the kitchen. This time the portions were better sizes except the sea bass still small. Lovely desserts. Service much better this time too. Altogether we enjoyed this more than Mark Jordan on the Beach.

A. N Other meal at The Bass and Lobster. A. N. Other fab night out. Friendly efficient service. Perfectly cooked food. Tasting plate for starters (parfait, gaspachio, parma ham and fish), fish and chips for mains (salmon, king prawn, cod and scallop), tasting plate dessert (crème brulee, crème caramel, passion fruit sorbet, chocolate logs, summer fruits and choc mouse), and a bottle of wine (just for me!!). £45 including tip. Very full. Very happy. And we went a la carte - cheaper version for set menu available!

The food was lovely but overpriced with small portions.
We both chose from the specials board and the sea bass fillet was tasty but tiny, and the half a lobster was the smallest I have ever been served in a restaurant!
We wont be returning

Don't be put off by the lack of view, the Bass and Lobster is practically in Gorey and is my favourite restaurant in the area. The food is consistently superb with good friendly service, Yesterday i ate off the special menu and ate the best lobster dish ever, Asian inspired. Can't wait to go back.

This is about the sixth time we've visited this pub for lunch and it never disappoints. The food is super tasty and fresh. The service friendly, relaxed and helpful.

Our first night on Jersey we had dinner here, the set menu was varied and interesting, service spot on and friendly, atmosphere and seating very comfortable.
This is where we discovered coffee seems to always be served with hot milk! UK take note ;-)

We have just had another excellent meal at the Bass and Lobster. We eat at this restaurant quite often and have never taken the time to review it. So here goes!
Whether we have lunch or dinner, two people, six people or a large party booking we have never had a bad meal. Every time we eat here the food is always served beautifully and if the food is supposed to be hot, it is, and always freshly cooked. The set menu is fantastic value and never had a problem making a choice! All the staff are brilliant and always make you feel welcome. The team lead by Aigars (hope I have spelt that right) are always very professional and we think the best locally. We highly recommend the Bass and Lobster to both locals and holidaymakers, you won't be disappointed!

We were recommended this by a local friend, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Set-menu was good value at £19.50, mains (slow cooked pork belly and fish & chips) were well cooked with a Spanish influence. Desserts wonderful, with real tang to them. Starter of gazpacho was good, but suffered a little in being complicated by avocado and pesto, and could have used finer sieving and more cucumber influence. But in all a great meal and good value for dinner.
Service was a little slow, but we did arrive later than most diners.

When I arrived back in Jersey yesterday (Sat June 14th 2014) 9 of us went out for dinner at this excellent restaurant. Of course in temps passe I knew it as the Welcome Inn. We got a wonderful reception! The Menu was interesting, even my grand-daughter took a started from the Main Menu, although there was an interesting Children's Menu. I enjoyed a New Zealand Waipara, red, which had travelled very well and made me happy to have an old friend. I had a fish starter and then for mains took the potato bake, which was fabulous, as I was not too hungry and it hit the spot perfectly.
Service and Menu was excellent. The Owner/Chef also runs the Fish Restaurant in St Helier.

Good value menu with some nice choices. I tried the Gravadlax and then a "Spanish " Burger and big chips. They were exceptionally tasty. Polite service from the staff was fine.
Nice spot to sit outside in the sunshine on a good day. I enjoyed it!

we were looking for somewhere to eat for the last night of our holidays - there was no reply but they called back which I was very impressed with and had a table. The staff were friendly and efficient. Both a table d'hote and a la carte menu was on offer. All food was very tasty but I have to say the assiete for desert was something else! everything from dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse, chocolate brownie, ice cream, passion fruit pannacotta and creme brulee
oh my oh my = fab!well worth a visit and would definitely return

Had an excellent lunch here on Jersey's Liberation Day. Starter of Parma ham & melon served quite differently from usual and excellent. My belly pork cut like fish fingers and deep fried in tempura batter outstanding. My wife had succulent chicken breast, so tender. Desert was baked passion fruit cheesecake. Definitely coming back again soon.

Went here for sunday lunch, as I was very happy with the food and service when i visited this restaurant a few years ago. Now it would seem things have slipped, and the prices have increased dramatically. A very overcooked piece of fish, that literally cost twice as much as it should have, served by a clearly inexperienced waiter. Dont waste your money, the food is better elsewhere and you will have change for a day trip to france!

We were recommended to The Bass and Lobster and were not disappointed. A very good Menu with dishes to suit all tastes especially the fresh fish options. I had King size prawn and Squid Tempura which was superb and my Husband Scallops which he loved. All dishes reasonably priced and all dishes freshly cooked and served by the most efficient and obliging staff. Would definitely recommend you reserve a table in advance as they get very busy.

Enjoyed a lovely family lunch at the Bass and Lobster. Set menu which at £20.50 per head was good value, with reasonably priced wine (with good choices). Service was very good aided perhaps by a sparsely occupied restaurant which was a shame but the first sunny weekend of the year may have diverted would be diners. Starters and desserts were excellent with mains well cooked and tasty. My only criticism is that the accompanying vegetables (to roast beef) lacked taste (both swede and carrot mash and cabbage and bacon) which was the only dampener on an otherwise lovely meal. Overall, a very good experience and worth (another) return visit.

I went to this restaurant for a family dinner. I loved the décor and atmosphere. The food was lovely - I highly recommend the chocolate and almond sponge cake with praline ice-cream (it's similar to a brownie). We all enjoyed our food a lot and will be returning.
