Our first night on Jersey we had dinner here, the set menu was varied and interesting, service spot on and friendly, atmosphere and seating very comfortable.
This is where we discovered coffee seems to always be served with hot milk! UK take note ;-)

We have just had another excellent meal at the Bass and Lobster. We eat at this restaurant quite often and have never taken the time to review it. So here goes!
Whether we have lunch or dinner, two people, six people or a large party booking we have never had a bad meal. Every time we eat here the food is always served beautifully and if the food is supposed to be hot, it is, and always freshly cooked. The set menu is fantastic value and never had a problem making a choice! All the staff are brilliant and always make you feel welcome. The team lead by Aigars (hope I have spelt that right) are always very professional and we think the best locally. We highly recommend the Bass and Lobster to both locals and holidaymakers, you won't be disappointed!

We were recommended this by a local friend, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Set-menu was good value at £19.50, mains (slow cooked pork belly and fish & chips) were well cooked with a Spanish influence. Desserts wonderful, with real tang to them. Starter of gazpacho was good, but suffered a little in being complicated by avocado and pesto, and could have used finer sieving and more cucumber influence. But in all a great meal and good value for dinner.
Service was a little slow, but we did arrive later than most diners.

When I arrived back in Jersey yesterday (Sat June 14th 2014) 9 of us went out for dinner at this excellent restaurant. Of course in temps passe I knew it as the Welcome Inn. We got a wonderful reception! The Menu was interesting, even my grand-daughter took a started from the Main Menu, although there was an interesting Children's Menu. I enjoyed a New Zealand Waipara, red, which had travelled very well and made me happy to have an old friend. I had a fish starter and then for mains took the potato bake, which was fabulous, as I was not too hungry and it hit the spot perfectly.
Service and Menu was excellent. The Owner/Chef also runs the Fish Restaurant in St Helier.

Good value menu with some nice choices. I tried the Gravadlax and then a "Spanish " Burger and big chips. They were exceptionally tasty. Polite service from the staff was fine.
Nice spot to sit outside in the sunshine on a good day. I enjoyed it!

we were looking for somewhere to eat for the last night of our holidays - there was no reply but they called back which I was very impressed with and had a table. The staff were friendly and efficient. Both a table d'hote and a la carte menu was on offer. All food was very tasty but I have to say the assiete for desert was something else! everything from dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse, chocolate brownie, ice cream, passion fruit pannacotta and creme brulee
oh my oh my = fab!well worth a visit and would definitely return

Had an excellent lunch here on Jersey's Liberation Day. Starter of Parma ham & melon served quite differently from usual and excellent. My belly pork cut like fish fingers and deep fried in tempura batter outstanding. My wife had succulent chicken breast, so tender. Desert was baked passion fruit cheesecake. Definitely coming back again soon.

Went here for sunday lunch, as I was very happy with the food and service when i visited this restaurant a few years ago. Now it would seem things have slipped, and the prices have increased dramatically. A very overcooked piece of fish, that literally cost twice as much as it should have, served by a clearly inexperienced waiter. Dont waste your money, the food is better elsewhere and you will have change for a day trip to france!

We were recommended to The Bass and Lobster and were not disappointed. A very good Menu with dishes to suit all tastes especially the fresh fish options. I had King size prawn and Squid Tempura which was superb and my Husband Scallops which he loved. All dishes reasonably priced and all dishes freshly cooked and served by the most efficient and obliging staff. Would definitely recommend you reserve a table in advance as they get very busy.

Enjoyed a lovely family lunch at the Bass and Lobster. Set menu which at £20.50 per head was good value, with reasonably priced wine (with good choices). Service was very good aided perhaps by a sparsely occupied restaurant which was a shame but the first sunny weekend of the year may have diverted would be diners. Starters and desserts were excellent with mains well cooked and tasty. My only criticism is that the accompanying vegetables (to roast beef) lacked taste (both swede and carrot mash and cabbage and bacon) which was the only dampener on an otherwise lovely meal. Overall, a very good experience and worth (another) return visit.

I went to this restaurant for a family dinner. I loved the décor and atmosphere. The food was lovely - I highly recommend the chocolate and almond sponge cake with praline ice-cream (it's similar to a brownie). We all enjoyed our food a lot and will be returning.

This place has great food and service. It is able to deal with big groups very well just as it is smaller families or couples. Always a good go to reliable restaurant that you will enjoy.

We went there for my 30th birthday for a Saturday Lunch. There were 20 of us. The staff were particularly helpful and happy, especially Aigars!

The food was delicious and everyone raved about how good it was. Fantastic value for money. We will be back!

We went with two friends, making four of us. You need to book most Saturday nights. The food was excellent, service cheerfully and quick. The wine list both reasonable and varied. All of these things add up to a great night.
The food is a little different being adventurous without being pretentious, great flavours and thus quite surprising. The restaurant area is modern slick and you can see the food being cooked.
We have been a few times and shall keep returning, the menu seems to change to match the seasons.

My kids, wife and I were returning from the morning at the castle in Gourey. Hungry, we were looking for a local pub grub. Right on A3 west of Gourey we drove past this place and decided to stop. The staff were welcoming and started by trying to match our names with the reservations list. Later we found out we were lucky to take the only unreserved table. Indeed the place was full to capacity by mid lunchtime. The tennerfest menu was not disappointing, every dish was superbly presented and cooked to perfection. The chef seemed to favour dishes served in little pots or in a pot shape:) - potted salmon, beef cheeks, shepherds pie, and even the cheesecake was served in a glass pot (so we could not take it away with us). But unspoiled by this quirky feature every dish tasted SUPREMELY, fives stars! The staff were very attentive to our needs and we left this place very happy. Thanks for such a great culinary experience!

Went on a Tuesday night and the place was busy - just as well we booked. The Tennerfest menu looked really good but we went for the a la carte. The staff were relaxed and efficient and the service was well paced. The food was really good with slightly unusual twists to the dishes. The food was a little pricey but worth it. I would recommend a visit.

Wow. I've reviewed The Atlantic as five star recently so what can I give this? It was better! We had a meal here mid week and it was very quiet despite the tennerfest menu. We ate some on and dome off the tennerfest menu and loved it. We had the potted shrimps and stuffed mushroom to start followed by both types of scallops. The tastes of all four dishes were outstanding. I am not very adventurous when it comes to food but everything worked to perfection. As we were still a little early for the movies - Captain Phillip's (really enjoyable and isn't that Hanks bloke annoyingly good) - we opted for the taster pudding. Now I don't normally do puddings but this dish was fabulous. A couple of glasses of the decent house wine and we were set up. A quick thank you to the three chefs and we were on our way.

We went to Bass & Lobster last year when the Tennerfest was on and could not believe the menu choices - once again this year they have put together an excellent Tennerfest menu - it is well worth going - the food is excellent as is the service and once you have tried the menu you will definitely be back during the month

A nice tennerfest menu, liviely atomosphere without being over powering noisy execllent service. I have been to this restaurant before, and enjoyed it; but this time I particularly noticed the service.
The staff were friendly and attentive without constantly asking if everything was "all night", any requests were delt with promptly and you felt they were really enjoying what they were doing.

Resently ate twice at the reasurant whilst staying in Gorey. The first time was a Thursday evening when it was about half full. We choice from the set menu which had a good number of choices. The food was excellent and really good value. We were so impressed with booked there and then for the Saturday evening. When we told them we were staying in the area they appeared most surprised and it became evident that majority of the dinners were locals - always a good sign. Saturdays food was again very good, but only the a'l'carte menu was available which is more expensive, but when the food is that good who is complaining.

On my recent visit to Jersey, I had lunch twice at the Bass and Lobster which is a great favourite of a friend of mine and both times we had an excellent meal. The menu is adventurous but not ridiculous and the prices are very competitive and I recommend anyone thinking of trying it to do so, but make sure that you are hungry as the portion sizes are not for the faint hearted. I shall be returning on my next visit and it is certainly the best restaurant in its class on Jersey. Well done.

We recently spent a Friday evening here for a family meal, and left disappointed after a very average experience.
The restaurant was very busy according to the rushed & apologetic staff that seated us, gave us menu's & asked to take our drinks order, we asked for 2 minutes.. 20 minutes later we had to get someone's attention to take our drinks order & food order. Drinks wise I seemed to have ordered the last Peroni in the house without realising it, strange but these things happen..
Again we were told that they were busy, yet there was a empty table next to us.. still there was a lot of noise from other tables making us struggle to have a conversation. Some 45 minutes later our starters arrived. As sometimes happens my wife & I both ordered the same dishes- The homemade pork & corizo scotch egg with mustard mayo & spiced red pepper dressing, when they arrived the 2 dishes were far from identical, my wife's lacked some presentation. That said they were tasty.
For mains we'd ordered pork belly, which rather than the usual pave (square) look came rolled, this is the first time we'd seen it done this way, taste wise it was ok but nothing special.Jersey has some excellent restaurants with the standards been very high, after our 1st visit we feel The Bass & Lobster still has a lot of work to do.

Absolutely amazing food. Great service. Very friendly staff. Great location. It is very pricey but what else can you expect? If you fancy a really good quality meal in a beautiful location and just want to splash out that little bit more, head for this place!
