Visited with family.
Chose for 9 year old child off the childrens menu. He ordered a beefburger. It came with 2 chunky chips and was half a beefburger in a roll that had been cut in half. Why only give him half? Did the staff eat the other half or was that to be saved for another customer? We gave him some chips off our plates. It reminded me of when my aunt told me that she was served her ration of half an egg in the war - it was presented as a fried egg cut in half!
The adult portions whilst nicely presented were not very big.We decided against sweets and were tempted to go to the chip shop on the way home!
We eventually decided to go to the shop and buy a sweet to eat when we got home.

Had an evening meal on the 6th September. Food and service were very good. My wife and I went early and there was plenty of room. Booking is advisable though. Not far from Gorey so you can walk the food off afterwards. Well worth a visit.

Had dinner at the Bass and Lobster on Monday 3rd September. Could not fault anything about the place, Food was excellent and would have been at home in any 5 star restaurant. Offers both a la Carte and set menus with something for everyone. We ordered off the £18.00 set menu for three courses, started with the crab cakes, then Lobster Thermidor and finished with the Cheese board, outstanding meal for the price. Will without doubt eat here again.

This was a fantastic meal out with the family. We came in the evening and each chose two courses from the set menu and everything was delicious. Wonderful service and value at £15 for two courses. Booking highly recommended! Definitely pay a visit if you're in jersey.

I had a great dinner at the Bass & Lobster, food is great, the set menu is fantastic value for money with plenty of choice, service is as good as you'll find anywhere, polite and quick team. Thank you B&L. Recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice.

As a regular diner I can't rate this place highly enough. The food is of the highest quality - I believe the head chef is also the owner and this is always a good thing - and the service is consistently warm and friendly. I travel a lot and often dine in top restaurants, particularly in London, but I can honestly say that the Bass & Lobster is as good as any of them - keep up the good work !

I go to this restaurant every now and then and this time we went for a dinner from work. As one of us was gluten and fish free, they made a special menu for her (we let them know about the allergy when we booked). Quite a few of us also mixed the set menu and a la carte (starters from set and mains from a la carte). No problem at all. One person didn't mention he has nut allergy and ordered dish with salsa verde. He thought it was pesto and even though there are no nuts in salsa verde, they quickly made a new risotto with sauce vierge on the side instead.
Prices are very reasonable. Set menu is at great price. Even though the portions might be smaller, but with three courses it's just enough not to overeat yourself. One could say the A la carte is a little more pricey, but you get a lot of food of the best quality for your money.
They even have their own ice cream machine, so they are mixing up all different kinds of sorbets and ice cream, like banana and passion fruit!
The staff were very helpful, polite, attentive and friendly.
All in all, it was really a perfect night out and this place is definitely my No.1 on the island!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this popular restaurant across the road from Gorey beach. The place was packed and we were glad we had booked. The set menu wa v good value. I think it was £17 for 3 courses, but I may be wrong. After a delicious starter chicken liver and fois GRAS parfait I had lobster thermidor. This was a first for me and I was pretty impressed? The portions were quite small, but that meant I had room for pudding- cheesecake and ice cream, again delicious. The staff were excellent and we had a good bottle of wine with our meal. Excellent food at great value.

Short stroll out of Gorey Pier the Bass and Lobster provided a very satisfying set menu for lunch, which, when you compare the price, the quality and quantity of the food provided it was extremely good value. We had a 1/2 dozen oysters to start (bit surprised they were served on sea salt as opposed to ice - but that didn't detract from the taste, which was very fresh) and then followed the two course set menu. The starters and main courses were well prepared, original and more than adequate for lunch time.
We thought the overall bill was reasonable and you couldn't fault the service or the ambiance - we would return given the opportunity

I visited the Bass and Lobster with my family, we decided to eat off the set menu unfortunately when we left the restaurant we wanted to go elsewhere to eat as the portions were very small, my son had a burger which was half a burger in a bun and 4 chunky chips which is not enough for a nine year old, I went for the half a lobster which was served with some minted peas. The food was very well presented but was not filling, we ordered dessert unfortunately it would appear they could not count or remember what we had ordered as two of us had to wait for our desserts to come out in which time everyone else had finished.

Food was top quality and was cooked by someone who knew what they were doing. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. We sat outside which overlooked the car park so not the best but we were there for the food!

The Bass and Lobster is a restaurant that has developed well since it first opened. Initially, service was not great but I would now rate service very highly. The staff are professional but still very friendly. For example, we have visited three times over 2012 and the waiter has remembered our wine choices from previous visits.
The decor is quite upmarket and you have the sense you are dining in a classy place. There is a nice buzz about the place without feeling you are being overheard by the next table.
The menu is quite varied and the food and its preparation is high quality. The tasting plate is a favourite and I admire the fact that this is changed regularly. Food always seems to be cooked perfectly and arrives in decent sized portions and hot. We have asked for wine recommendations with our food and the waiter has explained options knowledgeably and patiently while answering our questions well.
Despite the upmarket feel we have always felt that our children are welcome. The kiddie's pasta dish is delicious and tastes fresh while being full of flavour.
The desert menu is delicious and decadent. I can never quite choose what I want!
The Bass and Lobster is fast becoming a favourite of mine. I would highly recommend it.

menu/specials board contained one ingredient unsuitable for my companion in each dish so the chefs (visible thru the glass wall to the kitchen) kindly altered each dish chosen. all the food was fresh, locally sourced and service top class. almost a fine dining experience in a bistro setting and good wine list + comprehensivel bar . not only fish as the name may suggest. more of a special occassion than just out for something to eat

I am a vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu for me. However, the chef was good enough to make a tomato risotto for me which is quite possibly the best risotto I have ever tasted. I understand they have now added vegetarian options to the menu and I can't wait to go back there and try them. My partner loved the sushi. Nice atmosphere

When the sun is shining, and there's a lunchtime specials menu available, then there is no better place to spend a lazy afternoon in the sunshine with a bottle of wine, and good value food.

I have eaten here many times. The food is exceptional and the prices are very competitive. They often have deals.

I had the same menu as a previous review, the cobb salad with pancetta and quail's egg followed by lobster thermidor and a different dessert- but I had it at lunch and it set me back all of 14 Quid!!
I have to say hands down, this was the best value meal I have had on Jersey- or anywhere incl france and the USA. And I have had some quite good meals in Jersey of late as I am reaquating myself with my former home.
It was so hard to make a choice from the menu I had to ask the waitress to come back twice as I couldn't decide which of 3 (there were 5-6) mains to choose from? The staff were fast, professional and courteous. The decor was upmarket gastrpub. There was a large family celebration next to us, and either they were extra ordinarily quiet, or the acoustics are good too as we weren't disturbed.
All in all a faultess meal and I will be back ASAP. And I might even order a la carte as there are so many good things to choose from.

Had the set menu for about £17.00, cob salad with ciabatta, quail egg, & blue cheese dressing, then lobster thermidor finishing off with Bailey's pot & chocolate mousse with orange shortbread. Staff friendly, service quick and good - what's not to like?

Ate at the Bass and Lobster and had the three course set dinner and felt as if we were having a michelin star meal ! Fois gras parfait and lobster thermidor as starters and mains followed by a fantastic selection of desserts or cheese board. Beautifully presented food in elegant surroundings - it did not feel as if you were in a pub !
The waiter that served us was most helpful and pleasant and a true professional. Highly recommended for a taste of luxury at down to earth prices.
