A place of such sadness & beauty. The most heart breaking place was the huge empty wall in the post WW2 section seemingly awaiting the names of victims of future combat.
When will we learn?

It's a wonderful place. Friendly staff and volunteers, reasonably priced refreshments, and free. Small £4 charge for car park if booked online, £6 on the day. And the monuments? If you cannot find one here that means something to you personally then I will be surprised, they are amazing and set in such beautiful grounds it makes a wonderful day out. If you get a chance, do it.

A sombre and eye opening experience. The arboretum is definitely more “memorial” than it is “arboretum” although we did visit in winter so this may not be the case in summer. The location itself is beautiful, where the river Tame and Trent meet. There’s lots of opportunities to see wildlife and some plaques showing what animals can be found in the area. Overall a nice way to spend a day, considering the only cost is the £6 parking.

We love going here. As a group of 7 adults and a toddler we spent a good 3 hours wandering around and looking at the monuments. There are quite a few volunteers who are very knowledgeable and are able to give background information. For example I learned yesterday that Royal Navy personnel tie their boot laces differently so that they can be identified by the Gurkhas. There are various trails for children to get involved in. Entrance is free, you can book a car parking space on line for £4 or pay £6 at the machine. We took a picnic to have at the end of our visit. There is quite a large open area with tables and chairs or you can use the indoor cafe. We learned that at 11:00 am there is a 2 minutes silence held in the chapel close to the entrance. This place is a lovely experience for the young and old. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

The 93rd Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders Anti-tank R A.
Was one of the Regiments my father served in W.W 2. (Italy, Palestine)
He and his three brothers all came home.
However so many died so we could live.
When one walks around, it makes one appreciate life..
Paulo'...

Playground: For children... Adventure playground.

Restrooms: Yes restaurant and restrooms.

Dog-friendliness: People were walking around with dogs. Must be on a lead.

Picnic area: Plenty of benches and plenty of quiet areas to sit.

A memorable day out at a beautiful place of peace and remembrance..be prepared to do a lot of walking because its vast area ...its very sad and thought provoking with nearly every corner and space dedicated to the fallen in peace time wars ..the gardens are immaculately kept and with plenty of volunteers to help and inform you if you wish at handThe very large cafe come restaurant does get very busy and long queues form for the dinners this being the only down side of which it needs to be looked at ..just one queue for being served so the carvery takes an age and leaves a massive line even if you want something other than a dinner... reasonable prices we thought but just the service that lets it down ....but lets face it you don’t visit this place just to eat it all about paying respects and remembering the brave people who gave their lives for what we have today ...go and visit this place you wont
Be disappointed.

It has been several years since my last visit, it is no less moving now than it was then. The tree element is maturing, that new trees seem to have been added hopefully means that there will be a culture of succession planting that will embody 'They shall not grow old ...'

For a person of my age 75 to experience this memorial, having been born just after the war and seeing what my parents witnessed and themselves being bombed out of their home, it was poignant to be able to pay homage to all who did what they did. You must put this on your bucket list.

A lovely morning out with friends doing the stick man trail. Parts of the trail could be more clearly marked as we found one bit towards the end hard to follow. The staff always go above and beyond.

An incredibly moving and thought provoking visit , enhanced massively by our knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer guide. Almost too moving to be able to fully appreciate in one visit. Will try and go again at a different time of year to enjoy the many trees in full foliage. Go.

Really impressive place to visit with lots of poignant information about wars fought and allies lost. What really was sad was the memorial to soldiers who were "shot at dawn". Many of these young men suffering with shell shock. Post humorously cleared of their ill perceived wrong doings.

We booked the parking online, which saves a bit of money. There are two cafes, one which does have some dog friendly tables. However, there are lots of tables and chairs plus covered shelters if you wish to take your own packed lunch.

Staff very knowledgeable about the various areas of interest plus Staff also very friendly
Well worth a visit
