Brilliant free museum in the heart of Taunton. Not huge, but filled with lots of interesting history, including some fabulous Roman exhibits. The leather made replica of St Mary's church was a real gem. Take a look if you get the chance.

Lovely spotlessly clean area. Lots to see and do for a small donation. You can round off your visit with light refreshments. Warning! In the school holidays, space is very limited both inside and outside the cafe area. We waited 1 hour for a table.! So if you can, I would encourage you to go along at other times. Busiest time is Lunch time.

Really clean and informative museum with plenty to see. They have trails on for children to go and find things/information to help them interact with the displays .
Our second visit to here and Definitely one of my daughters favourite museums.
Cafe is well priced as well, serving a good bacon buttie.

For a free entry museum there is a lot here giving a great perspective of what life was like through time in Somerset.

Fascinating. The lay out is fantastic. Immediately struck by the most beautiful tree/sculpture. Loved the presentation of the artifacts. Just a brilliant place for adults, and a new area has just opened for babies/young children where they can explore and be perfectly safe.
Do make sure that you have children though. We got told to have a mooch, and then found ourselves being somewhat escorted out of that area by a different volunteer. Rather strange. 🤷
Personally love the words of the Rebel's who stood by the Duke of Monmouth.
It is wonderful though, and like I said, safe!.
Also a brilliant café.
