My colleague recommended the seven sisters cliff to us.We were told that the cliff was great to see.We took the train and the bus12A to the seven sisters park.Afterwards,we went to the cliff side on foot.It took us 30 minutes. As soon as we saw the cliff, we were completely impressed. We took so many photos here.We were also hiking to the east Dean.It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes.Frankly speaking, we spent much time on the transportation. But it is quite worthy visiting the cliff. No entry fee.We do like it so much.

31 Dec Birling Gap. The National Trust car park is cash only so don't forget your coins. The cafe is usually very busy and you may need to wait for a table but the food and drinks are pleasant enough for a quick lunch or coffee stop. The shop is nice for a little browse for gifts. The view from the top of the steps is good and, one you've walked down the steep steps, the view from the beach is also stunning. You get a real sense of the height of the cliffs from below and the water's edge is interesting with the chalk. Nice for a short walk on the pebbly beach.

If you like walking this is the place to start from. With the Seven Sisters close by and a walk uphill to Beachy Head the scenery is wonderful.

Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters cliffs are further on from Beachy Head when walking from Eastbourne and are a very popular location for walkers.

This is one to tick off the bucket list and is quite spectacular on a sunny day with the cliffs almost too white to look at. A relatively short walk and a stairway descent takes you to the huge pebble beach, and you can quickly walk away from the coach loads of fellow visitors to do further exploration. There is a souvenir shop and refreshments available right by the car park. If you have the energy it is worth taking the very clear footpath up the cliffs for some stunning views.

Most recommended coastal walk in England. The terrain has lots of steep climbs and descents and I would rate the trail difficulty as 8/10. However the views are absolutely worth the efforts. The chalk cliffs are unique and supposed to have been here since the Jurassic times! The walk from Exceat (Seven Sisters Visitor Centre) to Eastbourne takes about 5 hours with a break in Beachy Head pub and for pictures. Ideal for solo walk or with friends. I have seen families on the trek but unsure if they can make the whole trail walk for 5 hours. Wind up the visit with a tasty fish and chips at Qualisea, Eastbourne.

Created by the forces of nature, this beautiful place continues to be eroded and the few remaining buildings close to the cliffs seem to be short lived.

Wonderful views and much scope for walking. Car park is free if you are a NT member.

The walk to the beach is flat and relatively easy. Take a picnic so you can sit on the rocks and relax. The beautiful countryside is worth the walk.

It’s easy to assess Birling Gap, you can go down the steps and reach the beach
The house is gradually falling down due to next to the cliff and sea , ( around 50cm/ year) I arrived Eastbourne 1996 the house then was double the size 2019 .
A peaceful beach .

Sitting out the National Trust building enjoying a hot drink whilst viewing the cliffs with their distinctive white drop was wonderful. Truly a glorious British spectacle

A beautiful place to visit at anytime of year. The beach is pebbly until low tide when sand is revealed. You will also have the opportunity to go 'rock-pooling'. From Birling Gap there are plenty of lovely walks but please be careful of the cliff edge. The National Trust have a lovely cafe and shop at Birling Gap. Enjoy.

This is a popular place at all times of the year, and can be extremely busy in the summer.
There is ample parking, some of it in a field.
There are walks along the cliff tops, please respect the cliff edge, as there have been cliff falls were many tons of rock has come down.
These falls take big chunks out of the cliff top, so allow plenty of room as you walk along enjoying the view.
There is a cafe at the top which serves a variety of cakes and sticky buns.
There is step access onto the beach, where you can build sand castles or simply paddle in the sea.
If you decide to walk along the beach under the cliffs, please be wary of sudden cliff falls. These happen without warning.
All in a great place to go for a day out with the family - so long as you respect where you are.

Never been here before what an amazing place if you like walking or photography great place to come very scary you can get that close to the edge and utterly confused why some people feel they have to lean over the edge defiantly a place if you have children you need to keep an eye

Had a lovely, if not a little windy, walk on the beach, fossil hunting. Lovely views, great shop and visitor centre. Good parking facilities. Would recommend, and we will be back again.

I was there over the long weekend and seeing the white chalk cliffs up close just really amazed me and my husband. We trekked from the beachy head up till here and we just marvelled at this beauty. There were still a lot of people there since it’s quite well known but not that crowded yet come summertime. This is a must see if you’re in Eastbourne!

This area of chalk cliffs and downland gives rise to one of the most impressive views in the country of England.

Birling Gap is gradually being eroded by the sea - look at the pictures in the visitor center and you appreciate how much land has been lost since the 1930's. This is a good place to park for a cliff top walk over to Beachy Head - whilst it is quite an easy route, go prepared with good walking shoes and waterproofs (depending on the weather). You can also head out down the rest of the Seven Sisters cliffs. The Beach is accessible via stairs (so not suitable for people with mobility issues) and you can walk quite a long way when the tide is out - but note there is a risk of being trapped as the tide rises, so always ensure you have time to return safely. There is a visitor center, shop and cafe run by the National Trust. Good spot for bird watching (but not all year round) - whilst there at the start of April, people were watching out for migratory birds making their way up the Channel en route to the Baltic. It does get very busy - it is a favourite stop for coach parties. Tip: parking is free for NT members.

Fantastic walk in the sunshine & beautiful views over towards the historic Beachy Head lighthouse . Lovely area for picnics . But don’t go too bear the edge as it’s very dangerous & prone to crumbling

Went to birling gap over Easter on open top bus which is a fun and fantastic trip, stopped off at birling gap for lunch big mistake, so overcrowded nowhere to sit everyone standing around ready to dash for thd next empty table ourselves included, but every table was cluttered with the previous families leftover rubbish and the time we was there our table was never cleaned!., also it was only midday and they ran out of sandwhiches when asked if there was any out the back rudley told whats in the fridge thats all there was!! Surely being a bank holiday you would be quite stocked up.

My wife and I (and dog) had lunch at Birling Gap on consecutive days following walks between Birling Gap and The Seven Sisters Country Park and Blrling Gap and Eastbourne. The cafe, shop and information areas were all dog friendly, with efficient and helpful staff, a good selection of food options, and an interesting range of books on the local area. Within a few metres of the entrance is an excellent viewpoint of the Seven Sisters, with further views on the rise towards Eastbourne. We completed the walks in both directions and found the route from west to east a tougher challenge. We had walking boots and wet weather gear with us, a useful precaution, as, despite clear and dry weather on both days, the last section from Beachy Head to Eastbourne poured with rain.
Signs state dogs must be kept on leads at all times. The cliffs are, to say the least, not an ideal area for dogs to run loose.
PLEASE NOTE: The car park at Birling Gap is a National Trust car park with charges for non-members. An all day charge is £10 (over four hours).
These were the final stages of our walk on the entire South Downs Way (in both directions) undertaken in stages over 22 months - a total of 200 miles - with 198 of them in beautiful, unspoilt countryside.

Amazing site for walks! On of the the greatest places in Sussex to visit. The scenery and the exercise both created the perfect hike.

Located between Eastbourne and Seaford most tourists visiting Beachy Head make this the next stop for views, coffee etc.
If you are able take your walking boots.
Windy roads but worth the effort to visit.
