Viewing this stunning coast and watching a dedicated group of volunteers cleaning up the beach of washed up rubbish was what made this a special visit

Can't recommend this enough. It's the most beautiful hike you can do. The only thing to bear in mind is to wear hiking boots particularly if it has been raining, and be aware that mobile reception is very patchy there.

Stunning views, amazing chalk (strata) coastal cliffs. There are steps down to the beach in the National Trust car park at Birling Gap. The walk along the clifftop meadows is worth the trip. Also worth visiting is nearby Alfriston.

We visited as part of a long walk. There is a visitor centre where you can buy a welcome drink and a snack. We went down to the beach. Very stony but great fun clambering about on the rocks

A must watch for nature lovers.. and sights of sea from the edge of the cliffs and the lush green mountains on the other side was worth it. Saw the sunset from behind the lighthouse, made my evening.

As well as beautiful views of the sea and white cliffs, you're aware of the fragility of the area as you gaze at the remaining cottages in a terrace that was once longer and is now perilously near the cliff edge. There's an excellent NT cafe with homemade food, and a visitors centre. One man had tethered his horse outside. The surrounding downs were covered with wild flowers.

A great place to visit, especially on a sunny day, although it can be quite windy. Great views for miles.

Nice walk along the seafront up to the gorgeous views, quite a steep hill to climb up to get there but worth it.

My wife and I walk from here along the Seven Sisters and back. The day we attended the weather was glorious and we couldn't have asked for better.
The visitors centre and tea room are well kept but can get a little busy with bus trips. Definitely worth a place on your bucket list!

Just be aware of the cliff edge. There is an eatery there but have not partaken. Steps down to the beach so a great walk.

We walked from the Cucknere Inn (you can park the car there) and along the canal towards the Seven Sisters cliffs. If you want to take the best pictures, that’s where you want to be!

If you like walking this is a beautiful coastline. Circular walk is worth doing but be prepared for it to take a while.

It was good to see that the approach to the beach stairs has been improved by using decking. Lots of people use the area en route to the beach or just to admire the view from or to take photos.

Gotta love a National Trust cafe! We went to Birling Gap twice in one weekend!
The walk over the Seven Sisters is great. Accessible but still feels like enough of a challenge to warrant a slice of cake at the end of it.

We regularly walk from Birling Gap to Cuckmere, return (about 5 miles. Although steep and hill, the grassy terrain is easy under foot and you have excellent views across the 7 hills. At Cuckmere you can add the additional 1.25 mile walk along the winding river valley to the Country Park - all easily double.

These white chalk cliffs are really beautiful. You can walk for miles along the waterfront and come back along the cliff top. The Beachy Head lighthouse is close by, and you can reach it on foot at low tide. On my visit, the NT car park was full, but it was very easy to park on the verge of the access road.

A nice break on the Eastborne to Seaford Walk. Premade and made to order. Eating inside or out. With a history museum also. Worth a stop for an hour or so.
You can also walk down to the beach from this point which was popular.

Decided to visit during the Bank Holiday. Incredible place with stunning views- blue sea, dazzling white cliffs in the bright afternoon sun, green rolling pastures.

Whilst the NT cafe area was busy, there was a great sense of space in the surrounding areas. Perfect for energetic kids but be mindful of the cliff edges.

This is a place to simply enjoy at an unhurried pace. With plenty of places to stop and admire the views.

It can get a bit breezy on the cliff tops so worth bringing layers.

Was last here 5 years ago when we walked the other way & spent an hour waiting for the bus at Exceat. This time got the bus in Eastbourne to Exceat and walked west to east - much better. Only downside was that the Visitors Centre does not open until 10.30 am so many people missed it. Noticed that one house less at Birling Gap due to coastal erosion.

With temperatures predicted to be into the mid-20s, it was no wonder this little place was so busy. There were people everywhere, all capitalising on the low tide - swimming, rock pooling or sunbathing. Be warned though that the parking can be busy, with many people having to park on the grassy verge along the road.

We were national trust members so once we had found a spot, we could park for free. Please check the parking meters though as even NT members need to display a paper ticket (bring your NT card to scan).

The cafe was busy and my husband purchased a coffee so we can’t really comment on the facilities. It looked like the usual hot and cold drinks and sandwiches, pasty’s and soup. Be prepared ladies to also queue at peak times for the public ladies toilets. There are 3 cubicles also just inside the shop/cafe which were less busy.

It’s a lovely location and we’ll definitely return to walk some more of the South Downs way.

Owned by the National Trust, we used the car park as we are members, There is a large eating area there. However you need to be aware that coaches stop here and to be honest it was quite dangerous when we returned from our walk. At least 3 to 4 coaches were trying to park and pick up children who were not being controlled by any one. There was an accident waiting to happen here.
Apart from this it has some glorious views and walking over the 7 Sisters to the Country Park and back via East Dean is something worth doing.

If you have enough stamina then try the walk. The Seven Sisters are chalk cliffs between Seaford and Eastbourne. It took us an hour to walk one way - up and down. The views are amazing looking out to see one way and across to land the other side. It can be very breezy so wrap up warm, you can always take layers off if need be.

Birling gap and the seven sisters offers a great view on the White cliffs of England. Have a walk along the coast line or along the cliffs to the lighthouse.
