Great place for family visit even with small kids. Beautiful views all around. Really relaxing atmosphere specially as gateway from busy city like London. Recommend

Too cold to walk up to Beachy Head, but there is a very nice National Trust cafe to enjoy and take in the scenery. Big car park. Interesting displays inside. Part of the coastal path so worth doing. Usual good food at cafe

Decided to take a trip to Birling Gap as we had never been. We had a great time rock- pooling as the tide was out. Stunning cliffs and scenery. Will definitely return to walk the coastal path.

Not really much to do here other than walk and view the beach and the erosion that is taking greater bites of the cliffs and houses each year!
There is a coffee and snacks place and usually a downs ranger / national trust/ environment truck and or similar showing some interesting items etc. from the area,

Despite the terrible weather a lovely place to visit even in bad weather although need to be careful walking down the stairs as slippy.

Lovely afternoon tea in the national trust cafe it could be clearer the menu is only on tables if you go straight to the till .

Just a word of warning for people who don't really like dogs that dogs are allowed inside the cafe ! I didn't realise and I'm not a big dog lover .

Birling Gap is a beautiful place to visit if on the Sussex coast. The sunsets are fabulous and when the tide is out, bbq heaven!

For anyone who enjoys long nature walks with beautiful views and fresh air. The Birling Gap is on a lower point of the Seven Sisters Cliffs where it is made possible to access the pebble beach and rest from the walk.

We had appalling weather so didn't hang around, but I could see it would be a lovely view on a good day!

Birling Gap can be reached by car and there is a café there for refreshments. It serves snacks and is quite reasonable. There is an outside eating area as well. If you don't fancy a drive you can pick up an open top tour bus from Eastbourne pier. You can buy a ticket which lasts for two days. This is a hop on hop off service. The buses stop at Birling Gap and several other places along the picturesque South Downs. Birling Gap has suffered from cliff erosion over many years and some of the historic "fishermen's cottages have been lost. Great care should be taken when walking the cliff top and I strongly suggest that you abide by any warning notices. There is a beach at the base of the cliffs but watch out for high tide. There are plenty of nice walks in this area if you like exercise.

Stand on the platform and watch the power of the waves or go down onto the pebble beach and enjoy the sea close up. You get a good view of the Seven Sisters.

This is well worth walking up the long hill to the lighthouse. The views are absolutely breath taking. Can be quite windy but make sure you visit. You can also take some amazing photos from here. There is also steps down to the beach. The cafe at the bottom is very expensive so avoid.

After walking from the Seven Sisters Country Park It was great to know there would be a great bowl of soup at the end at Birling Gap. It is an interesting place with access to the foreshore, cafe , shop and an exhibition which very graphically shows you the impact of erosion. The buses stop here too so on two occasions I was able to get buses back to Eastbourne after walking. Well worth a visit.

A stunning location on a fine day and a wonderful place for a walk. The cliffs are spectacular either from the cliff top walk or on the beach which can be accessed via a stairway. There is also a National Trust cafe by the car park which does a good selection of drinks and food. Well worth a visit but it does get very busy.

It really is a fantastic beach and great for summer walks. Ice cream in the summer and the pubs nearby - the tiger in and beachy head pub are great.

Very nice, but not as nice as Beachy Head. You can still take a long walk on the beach, but the views are limited....

First visit here when it has not been packed (Sunny March against sweltering June / July I suppose). Able to park close by this time, which helped. Lovely base for a walk up to the lighthouse, or my usual pursuit of waiting for DofE groups. Good restaurant there serving filling and reasonable food. Does get very blowy though (but what part of the coast around there doesn't!).

Three of the coastguard cottages have already tumbled into the sea, so you'd better visit soon before the other four follow suit.

Fabulous dramatic cliffs. 'Beach' very stony and sometimes difficult to walk on. But well worth getting down there to realise how dramatic those cliffs are.

I stopped here whilst on a coach tour around the area. There is a viewing platform from which you can take in the view in either direction. In addition there is a cafe with toilets, a shop and an information area. We were told it would cost £5 to park up for 15 minutes which I thought was a bit steep (excuse the pun) - not sure if that's the normal price or whether the car park girl was having a bad day as I didn't see any signs.
