Birling gap looking towards the Seven Sisters. Stunning chalk cliffs. NT have arranged for steps to be erected so easy to get on large pebbly beach. Shocked at how this spot is eroding at the fast rate - Seven Sisters is now 8 sisters. Wonderful for walking.

Very impressive and stunnig. We fond rain and strong wind, but it is England :) the white cliffs seems made by chalk. A good place to do nice pictures.

History and nature all in one. A rare National Trust spot that doesn't cost a fortune and is interesting to boot. More for the brave when the weather is windy as it's very exposed to the elements. Definitely worth a visit.

Birling Gap a must visit tourist attraction. In fact the whole of The South Downs and beachy head are just superb. So good were the sights and attractions we visited 3 times during our 2 night stay in Eastbourne. We went to the close by Tiger Inn what a magnificent position & village. Google it definitely worth a visit

Car parking is free for National trust members, stairs and gantry down to the beach. Good place to see coastal erosion in action, scary part is how fast it happens. Visitor centre and cafe on site. Good spot to leave your car and go walking, either up to Beachy Head or the Seven sisters .

Magnificent view from the top of the seven sisters and great for walking along the seaside. There is a tea room on site as well as a gift shop so it's nice to be able to get a warm drink on a cool day!

National Trust site. Stairs down to the beach and white cliffs. We visited on a windy day and it was exhilarating. Felt a bit of the white chalk hit us, so be careful not to get too close the the cliffs!
The visitor centre was very interesting and informative. Frightening to see the speed that these cliffs are eroding at. Definitely worth a visit if nothing else, because of this!

A wonderful place to visit. On a bright September day it was marvellous. Sitting outside with a hot drink, surrounded by happy smiling visitors. The cafe is great with a wide choice of food and drink. It is limited if you don't eat gluten and sugar. The beach is wide and seems to be a sun trap. Easy access to walk towards Beachy Head.

An excellent place to stop for a good view of the Seven Sisters cliffs, with sea breezes. followedd by a look around the exhibition centre and taking refreshments in the cafe, whilst it is still there. it is now very close to the cliff edge.

A trip down memory lane for my husband who remembers the characterful old cafe from walking the South Down Way many years ago. Interesting, welcoming and friendly visitor centre with fascinating time-line for Birling Gap over thousands of years. Cliff falls and coastal erosion illustrated and explained as well. Decent National Trust Shop and comfortable cafe with sea views. The cliffs are receding all the time and I wonder how long it will be before the Visitor Centre needs to be moved back. Good start point for cliff walks.

A dramatic part of Britain's landscape. See it before it falls completely into the sea! It's really quite a view, but it helps if you're not too prone to vertigo.

Just love the place .Nothing like it.
Try the cheese scones at the NT cafe.
Walk to discover views.Beware of the tide and cliff fall then enjoy the beach in safety.
A welcome in all seasons with varied events and exhibitions it is always a good visit.

We went for a day trip to Birling gap, Beachy head and Friston forest. Birling gap was amazing and we followed the routes posted by earlier posters on this forum starting from the red phone booth outside the coast guard cottages all the way up to the lighthouse and back. It is an easy-moderate walk and had plenty of attractive views of the cliffs and sea along the way. Would highly recommend this.

Such a stunningly beautiful place. Excellent for taking photos or simply enjoying sitting back and listening to the waves. Be warned- it is usually very windy!

Very picturesque. Took some beautiful pics. There is a walk, however as I have a bad knee, we just went down to the beach.

I have visited Birling Gap many times and love its beautiful white cliffs and shingle beach, with interesting rock pools exposed at low tide.

This is on the fabulous coast road from Eastbourne to Brighton and is worth a stop, even if you have just stopped at Beach Head.

Have been a few times, a cute cafe at the bottom of the hill then a long walk up to the lighthouse - lovely views of the whole area.

Lots of parking, even on one the hottest days of the year

Being honest - it's really the only place on the walk - but it has a shop, toilets, local information and a restaurant / cafe. Prices slightly on the high side - but clean venue and food really nice- so worth it.

Spectacular views of the seven sisters cliffs and good access to the beach. Parking can be difficult and try and avoid visits when coach parties arrive as it gets very crowded. Nice shop with interesting items for sale and good café with reasonable menu.
