We had a meal in the crystal restaurant at the Hydro hotel Eastbourne for my 70th birthday and it really was excellent. The food was very good and service was second to none. It truly was fine dining. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant.would have no hesitation in recommending here for a good meal.

After thoroughly enjoying Xmas 2018 at the Hydro we decided to combine the Xmas package,Twixmas escape plus the New Year escape for 2019 and what a fantastic time we had.
The Hotel was beautifully decorated and there was a packed programme of activities to appeal to everyone. The Live music in the evenings together with the choir singing carols on Xmas eve were all first class.
The food was superb and kept on coming. our compliments to James the head chef and his team.
The staff are both professional and friendly and worked really hard to ensure everyone had a great time special thanks to Rosie, Jonny, Stefan, Chris, Lisa and Ai.
We would like to thank the management and all of the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

We booked the Hydro Hotel as we had been there once some years ago for a wedding reception and had good memories of that day. Our memories were not failing as the hotel is still in excellent order and just as nice as we remembered. The setting is superb, with wonderful views out across the bay and we were pleased to find our room enjoyed the same lovely views. Our bedroom was very comfortable, clean and with everything we could wish for. We had afternoon tea on arrival, and were relieved to find they actually had skimmed milk available for us. Later we enjoyed a super meal in the Crystal Restaurant. The food was perfect, the choice of dishes good and the service excellent. The same applied at breakfast after which we left to explore Eastbourne very happy we had decided to stay at this establishment. In fact the only negative is the rather limited space in their carpark, but at least there is free parking in the streets around the hotel so we didn't have a problem. In fact we were able to leave the car there all morning whilst we walked along the seafront into town, as we would have had to pay for parking almost everywhere else! What a bonus and it was a delightful walk into town too. Thank you all at the Hydro. We loved our stay.

It would have been 5 Stars, but for our Reception (literally) and Departure.
First, and Last, Impressions matter, particularly at a 4* hotel, but the hotel was let down by its front of house staff.
On arrival, we were subjected to a Q & A session by the receptionist, who appeared to operate on a "need to know" basis; I also sensed that she felt that Travelzoo customers were somehow the "poor relations". Equally, on leaving (a different young woman), we were simply told the amount of our extras bill (for a newspaper) - no "I hope you enjoyed your stay", or any other similar pleasantry.
In between our coming and the going, the hotel lived up to its 4* Rating - food, service, room (and the other non-reception staff)
First (and last) impressions count in the Star Wars!

Short 3 night break away. Lovely single room with sea views, perfect for me. Management and staff all excellent, as was the food. All in all a true relax and get away.
I will certainly be returning in the near future.

The room was very nice the only issue was the shower over the bath not very convenient for someone elderly. Being a single person for the first time I would've liked the option to sit with other singles on a shared table although I found the other siingle residents very friendly

My husband & me had a really great NYE at the Hydro Hotel. We stayed for 2 nights & enjoyed the break very much. On arrival we had a delicious afternoon cream tea, then in the evening a lovely 3 course meal. My husband had the lamb shank while I had the sea bass. Beautifully cooked & absolutely delicious. The following morning (NYE) we enjoyed a very nice breakfast, my husband having a full English while I had smoked haddock & a poached egg. This also included cereals & lots of toast. In the evening, there was a very nice meet & greet meeting with champagne (or Buck’s Fizz) & canapés followed by a great party to celebrate NYE. Our meal for the evening was so good with my husband having the fillet steak ( at no extra cost!) & I had the sea trout. I can’t emphasise enough how good all the food was along with the service. The atmosphere for the NYE was amazing. The only reason I haven’t given this lovely break an excellent rating is because the younger members of staff had a very noisy party above us that went on until 2.30am without caring about paying guests. I understand the manager has since spoke to the people concerned & assured us that it will not be happening again. Thank you to everyone concerned & a Happy New Year to you all.

The hotel allows dogs at a charge of 10 pounds per night. You can take your dog only in to the library area if you wish to have tea. However, this area can be booked for private functions so check if it will be available. You can’t walk your dog in hotel grounds so it would be nice to have info on where you can take your dog locally. So basically you can keep your dog in your room, for which they charge. So, I’d describe them as dog tolerant but maybe some info on local walks and a couple of dog biscuits would help!

I love this hotel. Ok, I have never stayed there as I live nearby but I have had dinners, afternoon teas, prizegiving functions and too many coffees to number. The staff are always courteous and attentive and the food is delicious. It is well worth a visit.

It's always a pleasure to come here. Beautiful period hotel lost in time. Full of style and friendly staff. Very good food and lovely views from the conservatory looking over the croquet lawn and out to sea.
A very pleasant afternoon spent with coffee, lunch and more coffee writing out our Christmas cards.
Thank you Hydro we will be back.
