During my visit to Eastbourne in May, I inevitably re-visited the superb La Locanda Del Duca.
This delightful restaurant was recommended by a taxi driver in 2013 and on every occasion since that the town has been visited, the opportunity has not been missed to enjoy the fare on offer. The menu is vast, fairly -priced and with specialities available. A 'menu of the day' is offered, in addition to the a la carte selection and the food is always delicious.
However, splendid though the food is, any visit is enhanced by the typical hustle and bustle of a typical top quality Italian establishment, with fast, courteous service and a wide range of wines. The ambience , friendly welcome and first-rate food and drink make this a place not to be missed while in Eastbourne.

What can I say? WOW pretty much sums it up. As with the restaurant next door (the 2 are joint owned), the service, food and atmosphere are fantastic. Although I feel this has more of a formal and quite setting, perfect for romantic nights out, not so suited to large parties in my opinion. The menu has a wide choice of foods, each cooked and presented to perfection. The décor and setting is lovely, such a perfect place for an anniversary meal or if you are trying to impress a new partner, or even business associates. As always, with this quality of restaurant, the price is higher than surrounding places, but is 100% worth it. The service is first class and cannot be faulted. Always have a fantastic evening, highly recommended.

Booked into the restaurant on the recommendation of the B/B we were staying in. They were right the food was very good and the service was also good. However it proved to have been essential to have booked but even better if you'd been before and knew the seating arrangements and which were the better tables to have.
The place was packed solid and that was a bit of a problem for me but for some it was a total no no. The table we were given was at the back of the room behind me and to the right of our table were two large parties and for the waiting staff to get to them our chairs were constantly being bumped into and the staff were forever squeezing behind and to the sides of us which I have to say I found off putting. To the left side of us was another table for two which was quite close but allowed for waiting staff to squeeze in and serve both tables. I coped until the couple present when we arrived left and another couple took their place. To say the lady was not a happy bunny was an understatement she was furious and made it clear with her facial expressions, behavior and voice. After some discussion with the waiter, her partner and the manager the couple left vowing to eat somewhere else. I was a bit happier as she really was spoiling our experience which I was trying hard to enjoy. Unfortunately after only a short time they returned having failed to get anywhere else. The manager was all over them, they got a complementary bottle of wine or two, and a promise to move to a more suitable table as soon as possible. I'm not sure if everyone would be treated this way or not. They made their orders and throughout the time the lady was making it clear to her partner and others she was not happy. Finally just before their main course arrived they were moved to another table which I have to say was bliss for me and my partner but too late as our meal was finished.
The food was good and the staff did their best but for me it was too overcrowded and noisy. My advice is if you book a table visit first and see if you can select where you want to sit.

Have been to this restaurant every few years for a long time, quality still good, Italian, beautifully presented, not bad value for it's quality.

We actually booked an Italian restaurant close by, when we arrived we preferred Locanda. It was a nicer setting, more stylish, nice tables with tablecloths, a warm welcome, a good menu and lovely food. Would recommend and will return when we next visit Eastbourne.

La Locanda is Eastbournes premier Italian restaurant (closely followed by her sister restaurant Il Pomodora et Mozarella) The food is excellent, the serving staff are welcoming, humorous and attentive. Luca and his staff provide value for money, a congenial dining environment and a memorable evening.

Very nice atmosphere, polite Staff and very good Food. Great value for money
We had visited this Restaurant quite frequently when we lived in the area some years ago but having moved to Norfolk had not been in recent times.
We were staying in Seaford mid April and were trying to think of somewhere nice to eat and decided to see if the Restaurant was still there. Fortunately it was and it was as good as we remembered. When we are down in East Sussex again we will definitely go back.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the lovely, friendly and efficient staff, we knew we'd found the right place to eat. Had a lovely meal, great atmosphere, attentive service and when they found out it was my birthday, they sang HB to me and in Italian - plus I received a complimentary dessert and a birthday card too. Really felt special, thank you.

We went to La Locanda for sunday lunch and had a great time.
The restaurant was full and the staff were helpful and attentive, and there was a great atmosphere. The food on a sunday was a mixture of Italian and traditional english so there was something for everyone to enjoy, and at £20 for 3 courses it represents excellent value for money.
Each of the courses provided sizeable portions and were very tasty.I would not hesitate to recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

This is a romantic, comfortable, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Staff are very caring and helpful, with very good service.
Food is very impressive, the menu looked good so my boyfiiend and myself went for the full 3 course menu (plus we were very hungry!).Before we ordered, olives and french stick was served on the table.
After finishing our starters, more french stick was offered. The starter portions were a generous size and very satisfying. Main courses were all pretty different, however veal was delicious. Mine was served with veg and potatoes. These sides went deliciously with the mushroom and cream sauce, plus they were seasoned very nicely.
Puddings had some traditional puddings like tiramasu, and different ones like pears with red wine and cinnamon ice cream. Lemon sorbet was given as free complementary drink at the end. This was a lovely finish to the meal, having a refreshing taste in the mouth, washing out any spices or coffee still left in the palette.

Lovely meal at La Locanda last night. Glad to see their standard hasn't slipped & the food is as good as always, the calves liver in particular was delicious - perfectly cooked, which isn't always achieved with liver - this chef certainly knows what he is doing - faultless!
We have flirted with other Italian restaurants in Eastbourne but always come back to reliable La Locana...........!

Arriving in Eastbourne late on a Saturday night we asked our landlord where we should eat, straight away he recommended this place (and he was Italian!).
We phoned to book and could only get a table after 9pm but we thought this was a good sign that they were busy. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent and the food first class. The only criticism I would have is that the menu is very varied and I was willing them to take my order before I changed my mind again! One closer inspection, I noticed that they had eg liver or sea bass served 3 or 4 different ways, so not that bad. The advantage of course is that the food is always fresh as they are so busy.Book to avoid disappointment.

There was a variety of different priced menus to chose from. All offering a good choice of food. We went for the £21 lunchtime menu which offered an excellent choice of 3 courses.
The food was of very good quality and perfectly cooked. Add to that a friendly waiter and you can't go wrong. Booking in advance is recommended if you are visitting in the evening. Go along, you won't be dissapointed.

One of Eastbournes best. Always a pleasure to visit. Varied menu to suit all. Never disappointed.Excellent value. Staff most welcoming and accommodating, nothing too much trouble. Lunchtime special menu Monday to Friday has been a delight.Had trout on one occasion and red mullet on another. Food always hot with plenty of fresh veg.The mussels starter with chilli a delight. Love their Prosseco. Good as an aperitif with delicious mandatory olives and fresh bread.Fond of fizz and this is the best in the area.Supplied direct from London. Sometimes visit on our own or with Family and Friends.
