I had mussels to start off with and the sauce was by far the best sauce id tasted with mussels. The main was spinach and ricotta cabonara and it was good but fairly typical of what I've had elsewhere. This cost about £20. Would recommend, you'll need to book ahead

My husband and I opted for La Locanda after a rank meal at Henry's the night before. By comparison, this was perfection. The ambience was buzzing, the prosecco beautifully chilled and the food was delicious. I had a fillet steak on rocket, a dish that's not on the menu but was no problem to create and was very tasty.
To end on a high note: a snifter of complimentary limoncello finished our meal off a treat.

We booked a table early to give us plenty of time to eat and relax before the panto. We were an extended family of five (kid, parent, grandparents) and were the first table to arrive, though it soon started filling up. We were warmly greeted and given a nice round table. We all chose different dishes but no-one was disappointed. Despite the fact that it was our first visit here, we were welcomed like old friends and were even treated to delicious glasses of lemoncello at the end. We will certainly go back.

Had a lovely birthday meal out here with a friend over from Switzerland. The food was fantastic and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
The service can be a little bit 'full on', it's good service but sometimes it's as if they're trying too hard to be good and can end up being a little intrusive, however, better that than poor service!

Nice food very friendly welcoming staff. Only down side is that as soon as starter was finished main came within minutes then desert just as quick after that. Still good food and great staff

We were visiting Eastbourne for a family occasion and were recommended this Italian restaurant by our guest house.
The welcome was very friendly and also service was attentive during the meal, but not in an overpowering way.The food was freshly prepared and there was a good selection of not too highly priced wines.
As the evening progressed, local regulars appeared, which added to the already relaxing atmosphere. We now look for an excuse to return to this traditional seaside town for a reunion at this particular restaurant.

this restaurant always gives you a warm welcome . the owner is a real gentleman and always makes sure your needs are met . I went with a load of friends and unfortunately on this occasion the service was awful . this doesn't normally happen and it doesn't put me off going again . the atmosphere was great but the service or should I say lack of it on that night (they were very busy ) put a small blight on the evening

Located really close to the major Eastbourne theatres and International Tennis Club. La Locanda Del Duca is just a tad more 'upmarket' and sophisticated than its sister restaurant (just nextdoor!). A Perfect location for a pre or post theatre meal or a special occasion. Relaxed, fine dining but not overbearing. High standard of food and service. Young children are well catered for too but they may be happier in the bustle and slightly less formality of being next door in Pomodorro's.
Those requiring a 'quiet meal' together will enjoy La Locanda Del Duca.

Smart room, charming service and food.

LIked the chef's recommendations for starter and mains. Italian cheese plate was a bit chilled. If you want to eat on a Saturday do book as it was very busy and we couldn't get in. Returned on Sunday.

I've eaten twice here recently, the food is delicious and the staff are welcoming and friendly. There is a very nice atmosphere,,perfect for couples or small groups of friends. These visits were in the evenings but I would think lunch would be great for families as well

I took my husband here for his birthday along with two other friends. The service was relaxed and efficient, served with a dollop of humour even though the place was busy. I ordered the deep fried prawns which were juicy, plump and came with a thin delicious crispy coating. Afterwards I and one other had the calves liver with the sage butter--to die for! The rest of the party also really enjoyed, spaghetti Bolognese, grilled sardines although my husband thought the tuna in his seafood platter a little dry.
I had pre ordered a birthday cake for my husband, which was a delicious sponge cake crammed with fruits and cream. Thank you all at the La Laconda Del Duca. We had a marvellous night!

Taken here by my mother in law and her husband, myself, my wife and daughter were in for a treat.
The restaurant is centrally placed in Eastbourne and close to the beach area. Tastefully appointed and neatly decorated, it has a quiet, reverential atmosphere, almost library like. The menu was tempting, my only qualms with establishments like this is why do they insist on offering beer in small (330ml) bottles at inflated prices?
The service was unhurried, but positive, the staff, pleasant and attentive. I'm not sure that I was convinced by the "we don't speak much English" act, even if our locally based relatives were. Though I suppose it adds to the authenticity of the atmosphere. The food was really, very good; great recipes, well cooked, beautifully served and presented. A treat for the eyes, nose, mouth and taste buds.

Went to this restaurant two nights running during recent visit to Eastbourne.Really good value and very attentive service. Set dinner menu for either two or three courses which excellent, the calves liver is probably the best we have had. Ideal if going to the Congress theatre which only a short walk.

Found this little gem on tripadvisor. Went monday evening and it was fairly busy. Great food, especially the mains. Very friendly accomodating staff. We didn't feel rushed and savoured each course to the full. Will definitely come again. Thank you.

We had been looking for ages for a restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. It will be a small family lunch. So, we tried this restaurant a couple weeks ago. The surroundings are very pleasant. Linen table cloths and napkins. Beautifully laid table and the staff were exceptionally good , friendly and very attentive. The menu , thankfully , was not all pasta and pizzas but had a very interesting set menu with a good choice of all three courses at a very reasonable price. The wine list was Italian also at reasonable prices, available by the bottle or the glass. We really enjoyed our visit and proceeded to book for our family lunch.

This is a sort of upmarket version of the restaurant next door, I believe they are under the same ownership, and indeed share the same kitchen. Food and service were very good. Very busy so you will need to book for the weekend, can be a bit noisy, but of course that goes with being busy.

An exceptional Italian meal at a very reasonable price with amazingly good service. I had a warm goats cheese and fig starter that was ambrosial we both had Calves liver for our main course but cooked differently and these two dishes were a joy. It was a Tuesday night when we visited and I was amazed as the restaurant steadily became totally full. Absolutely delightful what a shame I live so far away!

In Eastbourne for one night and our hotel directed us here. It was a miserable Monday evening and we were surprised that the place was relatively busy. While we were not overwhelmed by the food we had a perfectly satisfactory evening. Although it is a well maintained restaurant with quite energetic staff we thought the food a bit old-fashioned in the sense that the menu looked a little like those in the anglo-Italian restaurants typical of the 60s and 70s. It didn't reflect the cooking of Italian TV and Cookbook chefs who now proliferate and provide a range of easily adapted styles and recipes for domestic cooks.
That said there were some high spots and in particular I ate a very good aubergine parmigiano. Pasta dishes on the menu seemed to favour cream bases although my wife enjoyed a bolognese sauce with hers. Mains were substantial. Mine incorporated two fillet medallions and a large dish of vegetables. It was fine but lacked the vibrancy of the best Italian cooking.
Service was efficient, prices reasonable and there was a fairly standard, largely Italian wine list. The restaurant was clearly popular with locals who seemed to know the staff and what was on offer. I could see its attraction even though I wouldn't become a regular.

Have been here several times over past few years and haven't had a bad meal yet. We don't live in the area otherwise would visit far more often (we come to visit family). The food has always been excellent and the service very friendly, if at times a little slow. It is the best Italian restaurant (I am Italian!) I have visited in this country and far surpasses any restaurants in the area where we live (near Farnham, Surrey). Our local eateries tend to be pretentious, over-priced and not very good. La Locanda isn't cheap, but neither is it over-expensive and the food is always of a good standard. Would greatly recommend.
