Extensive menu, attentive staff and great Italian cooking. Need to keep it to ourselves though as we do not want to get into a situation where we are not be able to book a table!

This is a very popular restaurant with a good reputation but we were very disappointed. We visited the restaurant on a Saturday night and having booked the table at the beginning of the week for four people for a very special occasion we went to the restaurant at lunch time to check our table - we were delighted with the position as it was in a quiet area. Very disappointed when we arrived in the evening to find it had been given to other people. Staff were busy and did not seem to worry that we were very upset. My husand asked for the rack of lamb to be well done but it arrived pink and had to be returned for further cooking - still not well done.
Will remember not to visit this restaurant on a Saturday night - far too busy and noisy and no one seemed to care that we were disappointed.

After our last somewhat disappointing visit in Nov, we went again. I'm happy to say that normal service has been resumed! Good food, attentive service and a full house - always a good sign.

Went with my wife midweek. Food was excellent as was the wine i had (Barolo). Service very good and friendly. A bit expensive but we knew that before we went in. Would we go back, yes definitely!

Popped in for an impromptu midweek evening meal with a friend after seeing good reviews on TripAdvisor. I'm not sure we would have gone in here on the offchance otherwise as it looked quite empty and perhaps a bit 'traditional' at first sight compared to other restaurants in the vicinity. But it soon filled up. First impressions were indeed misleading.
Really liked it. The informal atmosphere and the food were great - food all seemed to be home cooked with an extensive choice. The gnocchi with salmon was delicious and the home made strudel desert a delight. The service friendly and unrushed.
And it's only about 8 minutes walk from the railway station if that.
Thank you TA reviewers.

This place was perfect, near to hotels and a very decent price! (£30) for two meals and a small bottle of wine. The staff were all excellent and very friendly. They made jokes and were very attentive and fast to serve.
The restaurant takes good care of detail you even get lemon sorbet at the end of the meal to cleanse pallets and also olives and bread and butter at the beginning. Very nice place cannot wait to go again.

Very impressive, lovely restaurant with an extensive menu and all the choices of our group looked really tasty and well presented, and the poached pears with cinnamon ice cream were delicious!
The service was welcoming, friendly and very efficient and there was both good attention to detail and nice added touches. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a traditional Italian restaurant with much more formal dining than either a pizza eatery or indeed their sister restaurant, Pomodoro, two doors away. It is in an old hotel building and has the appearance of a classy hotel foyer. It was quiet when we visited on a Monday evening and the lack of fellow diners detracted form the total experience. Strangely Pomodoro was full but possibly with a party. The food is excellent and we all had veal escallops in creamy sauce with plenty of fresh vegetables which is to be recommended. This was off the set menu and the starter of melon and ham was certainly not your usual small portions. The service was attentive and friendly although the waitress was Slovakian not Italian! This is not necessarily somewhere to go when you want to be noisy and have fun in a large group - although I am sure it would be very enjoyable. It is for special occasions with excellent food. We finished with a complimentary frozen limoncello which was totally unexpected and ended the evening well.

A recent birthday visit. Very enjoyable. Service friendly and attentive but not overly intrusive. Food good. A good selection of choices in each category.

Has the feel of an old fashioned Italian hotel - warm reception and attentive service throughout. Had the set menu with plenty of choices and generous fresh portions. Ice cream home-made. Really lovely evening on a quiet Sunday evening. We had a 10% discount voucher but forgot to use it (next time), but to be honest it was really reasonable for the quality and flavours. Many thanks - Anthony & Stephen

My wife and I dined here on Friday evening (02/01/2015) and I could not find fault. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was exquisite as was the wine and the ambience. When I am next in Eastbourne I shall be dining here and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Mains were good, starter was disappointing and over priced. Was a busy and lively atmosphere (Saturday) however the service suffered slightly because of it. All in all a good experience.

Always enjoy the experience in their sister restaurant so disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high. But I think your money is better spent next door

My wife and I have been going there for several years and the quality of the food and the excellent and friendly service has never changed.
We sometimes go for lunch and other occasions for dinner . We also entertain our various friends and our family there .It is ideal for couples or groups and it is always our first choice if we want to eat out.

My partner and I had dinner at this restaurant last week on a pre Christmas break. The food was good and the staff were very welcoming. I was expecting small nouvelle cuisine portions, but was pleasantly surprised by the generous servings. I would certainly visit this restaurant again.

Great Italian food with friendly service and good choice of menu.
This is one of our favourite restaurants in Eastbourne. Wise to book at popular times as it is always busy.

We booked for 4 on a Saturday evening; Been several times before, however, we must have arrived at a 'peak' time; our table wasn't ready, but they found a 6 seater for us. the world and his brother must have been in at the same time; during drinks, we asked if they needed our 6 seater and we moved to a 4 seater which the very efficient head lady said, saver her life; she promptly gave us a complimentary fruit cocktail. The staff were a bit overrun; so many orders being prepared and served simultaneously, but they coped. However, we felt just a bit like being on a conveyor belt, rush rush. By 9pm all was under control again but I have to say the food wasn't, in my view, up to their normally good standard. It won't stop me going back, but maybe just not at 7.30!

The staff always make you most welcomed. Luca comes round the tables to greet you to, and chat about meal etc. The food is served fresh, so sometimes you may have a little wait, but its well worth it. If its a special occasion, then they will come to your table to 'sing'. The deco is pleasant, and clean, and reminds you of past holidays or places you may had visited. So NO this is not the best meal I've ever had in this restaurant, because (so far) every meal has been the best. I shouldn't really be telling you all, this when I want to book a table in the La Locanda Del Duca, I won't be able to get in. However, I've had some wonderful meals in there. Hope you do to.

This is a very traditional Italian restaurant. We went on a Tuesday evening in November when Eastbourne is very quiet. However, La Locanda Del Duca was pretty busy. So the locals must like it. Everything was excellent. Thoroughly recommended

Booked for party of 6, incluing one child for my 50th birthday. A lovely warm welcome on arrival, the staff made us feel extra special. They were happy to adapt the menu as we required, they paid particular attention to the 6 year old and were happy to cook the king prawns just as she wanted - she said it is her favourite restauraunt ever. Great menu and impecible and friendly service, which made the night. Will definitely be going here again. Complimentary liquers were a nice touch, they really are a shining example of what service should be.

Stopped in Eastbourne overnight and booked a table based on Tripadvisor reviews. Food and service were excellent as was the atmosphere and the Limoncello at the end of the meal which, as the taxi booked by the restaurant took forever to arrive, kept appearing. Pity we don't live closer so we could go regularly!

Our first visit here. A wide choice of food from an excellent menu. Friendly atmosphere created from the moment you arrive whether it be from the staff or the proprietor. Obviously very popular with the locals as we had difficulty in booking. Reasonably priced. Wish it was nearer to home.
