Atmospheric place steeped in history, the castle ruins are well kept, I have not been in the inner part that you have to pay for for many years, but wandering around the rest of the outer fortifications is pretty good, too. And one can walk, play or have a picnic within the outer castle bulwarks. It's nice that they let you do that..

We had a lovely walk around Pevensey Castle listening to the history of the castle. It's quite extensive, with great walls, rooms and there is also a dungeon and stairs up to great views. It was a little expensive for non members of English heritage, but knowing the money goes to restoration and up keep of these ancient sites, it was moved well spent. We also had a lovely chat with the EH gentlemen in the office. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Ah and we also bought a bottle of nettle wine.

A lot of history to this castle and really enjoyed the new style audio tour where you set it off at each point just by pointing your audio device at the sign

A place which encompasses an amazing sweep of history from the Roman army to its role in the Second Wold war. The place has been knocked around a lot so you do rely on the signage or the guide to gain an understanding of the site. Visually the remaining walls are visually stunning.. Certainly worth a visit.

There is free entry to wander within the Outer Bailey of this former Roman fortress. The Inner Bailey houses the castle founded in the 11th C and with walls dating from the 13th C. Run by English Heritage.

This castle is definitely worth a visit as the keep was a great walk but the castle wall was huge and a nice walk. You can also find the first Norman Church just outside the castle
