Quiet stroll around the castle listening to its long history. Amazing views to the sea, The Downs and to the North.

Definitely recommend if you like a bit of history, you get a free audio guide with the basic package which I recommend. Worth going on a clear/sunny day to appreciate the views.
Maybe a bit expensive but as I like history I'm always happy to contribute to keep the sites running.

It's a short walk from the station. The castle is lovely and I found the audioguide really interesting. It's a nice place where to spend a couple of hours and relax.

Definitely worth a visit as apart from gaining a lot of info about the Norman Invasion in 1066 there's a huge amount of info about the local area & the castle's history both pre & post 1066. Worth a visit if you get chance.

Although the castle’s a ruin, English Heritage have done a really good job on explaining the history - from Roman times to WWII. Good for kids too. Well worth a visit - see the dungeon!!

A nice example of old castle that you find in this area. Certainly can get a feel for how it was in original state and view of the coast not far off but of course that was a lot closer originally.

We stopped on route from Rye to Eastbourne which makes it a more enjoyable trip.
