The castle is quite basic if you compare it with other main fortifications such as Dover or Rochester. It is however a place of main importance because of its history and link to 1066 and the Norman invasion.

In ruins (but well looked after) and you need a bit if imagination to picture what it would have been like especially imagining the sea at the bottom of its walls long before the waves receded further away.

Car park and toilet just found the corner.

Not a huge amount to see here if you have a dog and it's pretty run down, however, they were starting renovation work on the castle walls when we visited in September 2018, so hopefully the site will improve as time goes on.

We really enjoyed our walk around Pevensey. Although little more than ruins, the audio tour really brings it all to life and helps to visualise how it would have looked hundreds of years ago. The audio is a must as it additionally helps to understand the historical significance through the years.

A very enjoyable castle to visit. We used the audio guide and found it informative and worth using, staff are very knowlegable and friendly. The stone missiles for catapults are Well worth a look at because they are huge! Really don't fancy one of those hitting you on the head. There is also one of the pevensey guns on site. Car park is spacious but it is a paid car park.

Massive 3rd - 13th century ruin, in the care of English Heritage. Great place to walk the dog. Don't cough up the £7.20 admission charge - you can See everything from the viewing platform before paying!

Always walk my dogs in this area but never really ideal to go after it's rained as it gets ridiculously swamped and muddy. The castle itself isn't much to look (should be free entry) but it's a nice trip out in the summer.

Nice English Heritage site near the sea. One of the very first fortifications built by Norman's during 1066 conquer. Not much left, but still a nice place to visit and walk around.

Made the most of our English Heritage membership and visited Pevensey Castle after Battle Abbey. Really interesting, the free audio guide really adds to it, I found it really informative. The room in the East Wing really gave me the creeps though 😳
