Historic, very old, and not particularly castle shaped anymore. This is a ruin, not a castle, but you still feel the weight of history in this place. It's still impressive after 1000 years.

There are public foot paths through the outer castle (though the keep is access controlled, so you have to pay to go there in most days) so you can scare yourself silly if you feel like walking through there at night.

Small castle (by comparison) but enjoyable. Still has a bit of a moat too.

A great morning out with a group of young families. The two tier(adults and kids) audio tours are great for those of us who listened, the 2000 years of history were great for everyone!

Nice place to spend an hour or so. Very quiet when we visited, good for dogs - free to run outside the main castle area and on leads inside

This is where William the conqueror set up his beach head prior to the battle of Hastings. A large part of the ruins are Roman that already existed before the Normans arrived, it was a fortified settlement on a spit of land that extended into the marshes that were there in those times, the sea has retreated about a mile but from the castle you can have a wander through Pevensey village, largely medieval, or have a walk across today's marshland to Pevensey Bay.

Pretty much a ruin but has all the walls & being inside gives you a sense of what it must of been like to live there. Headset tour is good.

Always a great place to visit. Look out for the Wassailing event in January. Torchlights give the castle a special look.

Beautiful Ruin. You can visit a large part for free. For the inner part you can pay for a box with information about the history of this ruin.

Absolutely Beautiful location. Great pubs nearby and child friendly. The castle itself is a tad expensive to enter but worth it if you believe in keeping these amazing pieces of history in best possible condition.

We went down for the day parking is cheap and both carparks we used were about £3 all day, one of which was right on the beach and was filling up fast because of the school holidays.

Overall Pevensey has everything for a lovely day out so should definitely be added to your calendar.

Not a lot to see and very little info so you would have to have the voice tour guide to really appreciate and as I am hard of hearing this would be of no use to me. Also depsite me telling the lady selling tickets that I wasn't interested in buying a membership she spent a further 5 minutes trying to persuade me even though I told her I have difficulty standing. Got to admire her passion for English Heritage but when a customer says no that should be the emd end of the hard sell.

Full of history, quite a large site but not much to see in a sense, towers are destroyed, foundations left in parts leaving you to your imagination. But an important part of our history.
