Very interesting historic landmark. Unfortunately it is just ruins but well worth a visit when in the area.

Great real old castle with a moat. The castle is easy to get to with ample parking
The castle has loads of info and the old Kings and events that took place here is just spectacular.
I visited at the weekend in November and we had the whole castle to ourselves, but it does get busier in the summer. Worth a visit and educational

Audio tour very confusing as lack of numbered boards made it difficult to follow, other than that a good few hours out.

If you are in the East Sussex area you should visit this Castle. It is so fascinating that it is one of the oldest castles in Europe!!! And what an amazing story it is. 5 Stars *****

Lovely place to visit. You can go around the exterior ground for free, inside is a national heritage site. The castle is ruins, but there are a few areas still intact that you can go inside including the dungeon!

Basically ruins of Roman/Norman/Tudor and WwII site. English Heritage site with audio tour which gets a bit confused
Would be better to have discrete numbers for audio tour near trigger points.

A fascinating building with a long and distinguished history. Well presented by English Heritage and preserved rather than recreated.

There are few facilities at the site but good pubs in the cheek by jowl town. Great for Photography, particularly when the skys are dark and moody.

Go now in this dry summer, as EH has managed to drain the dungeon by the moat.
